What would you want your eulogy to say if you died today? The epitaph on your gravestone? What would you say if you had time to write one last letter to your family before you died?
This is a very thought-provoking exercise, and I thought it might help somebody (no one in particular) to look at their life and perhaps realize that something needs to change.
If I died today, I hope that whoever gave my eulogy would say that I was a kind girl who cared about others more than herself. A hard worker, but a person who cared about how others felt, not just getting the job done. Someone who would always listen and help with others' problems, no matter how many she had of her own. The type of girl to be competitive, but lose gracefully. A strong Christian whose walk with God was obvious, a light to those around her. Loving, encouraging, supportive, and helpful. Defensive of her family, friends, faith, and anyone who was being picked on. Someone who the world would miss.
If I died today, I would want my epitaph to say:
Loving Daughter, Sister, and Friend Dancing with Jesus
If I had time to write one more letter to my family before I died, I would say this:
Dear Dad, Mom, and four brothers and a sister who might want to remain anonymous for the purpose of this HW post, First, I want to say that I love you all so much, more than anything in the world. I don't know what I would do without you. Dad, we're always at odds about something or other, but you're there when I need you. Mom, you gave birth to me and put up with me for almost nineteen years. That deserves a grand parenting prize. Brother #1, dude, bro, guy, man, make some better friends. Don't go down the road you're headed for. Brother #2, you have a talent for being annoying, but underneath that, when I can push past it, you're fun to be around. Sister, my favorite (only) sister, you're beautiful just the way you are. And don't touch my stuff. Brother #3, you're a special boy and we all love you so much. Keep gobbling. (family joke) Brother #4, you're a very sweet, smart, and loving little guy, and I hope that stays a big part of your character as you grow older. I wish I could be there to see it. I love you all so much, I want you to know that. Thank you for being my family and putting up with me. I'll see you guys in Heaven. Love, Elizabeth
How would you want to be remembered if you died today?
