Willow Wenial introduced me to HW. I met her on a forum for the Binding of the Blade series, and at some point she sent me a PM telling me about HW and suggesting I check it out. I was too busy or something at the time, but remembered it one day and decided to join.

And I got Arien to join.

My story is interesting-ish. To me anyway.

Back in the summer of 2009, I was following the VDT production news on NarniaWeb. I glanced through the comments one day to find a commenter going under the name of StoryGirl. Having read a lot of L.M. Montgomery, I thought it was in reference to her character that was called Story Girl, so I clicked the link to the girl's blog.

Come to find out, it wasn't about L.M. Montgomery at all, it was StoryGirl/Laura's writing blog. It was interesting, so I started following it, and then one day she posted something about this writing forum called Holy Worlds. I had written a little when I was young, and the idea of a Christian writers' forum piqued my interest. I believe that I wandered over to Jay's blog and asked him how I could join. (completely overlooking the "Register" button, of course)

But I had a problem, and that was that I didn't write. Anything I'd tried had failed. So I decided, if I'm going to join this forum, I need to write. So, after thinking about it, I decided to try fantasy, since I'd already given up on historical fiction. After all, fantasy is easier, right?

I started writing, and then about a month later, I asked my mom if I could join. She asked for the link, took a while to look at the forum, and finally said I could join. I found out later that she read every single post on the whole forum, and that if it had been this big then, I would never have been able to join, because she wouldn't have wanted to read it all.

So I think my chain would be Jay>StoryGirl>me

And adding people that I've told about it...

That is a neat story, Zoe. It made me laugh to imagine your Mother trying to read every post nowadays, when the forum is so busy.

That would be crazy, and I read every post on HWSF, which is hard to keep with at times.

Cool. You know...I know Laura in real life. She's the flutist/secondary vocalist in my band. We live about four hours apart, and plan to meet 3/4 of the way at another band member's house once a month to make our music. Hopefully it all works out. I love them all so much...wonderful, amazingly talented people they are.

I found Holy Worlds through the rebelution. I lurked for about month, then joined.

Melody Kondrael told me about it, but I didn't actually decide to join for a couple months because I hadn't written anything for almost a year. Then I checked it out and finally registered. What a blessing it has been. ^^

Once upon a time there was a girl who had one amazing friend who was a writer. They had stumbled across each other through quite the unusual circumstances (I'm not going to name names or anything, but... I'm pretty sure God did it.) This went on for two years, and the more time passed, the lonely she got. When her pastor mentioned a book called "Do Hard Things", her mom decided to get it for her. She read it, saw the website in the back, and joined the Rebelution forum within a week's time. She rarely went on though, being the shy rather-watch-from-the-corner type, but one day she went on and saw a post about a forum for fantasy writers that had just started. Eagerly she jumped at it, not even waiting to think about the whole shy factor, and the rest is history. Holy World history.

I found out about HW through PMing with a guy who told me about it. I think he is mostly in the sci fi section, unfortunately I can't remember his name! It might have been Tsaraf.

I was searching forlornly, looking through heaps of crummy websites in google search that supposedly at least mentioned Christian fantasy, but many times these were not even what I had searched for, and most of the rest of the time, not helpful.
Then God led me to your place somehow while I was searching google again (not with high hopes), and I saw the way the site was laid out (I tend to judge websites by 'the cover',) seeing how awesome it looked, and how active people were here, I joined (probably within a few minutes of finding it.) I've been praising God for this because I think it has helped me accomplish a lot in my fantasy world, and it is very good to be in contact with other Christians that are facing some of the same challenges I am facing.

The last reply to this was over a year ago. I am sure there are new members now who would just love to tell us how they found out about Holy Worlds, and came to join us here.

I found out about HW via my bestie Jessie Quill, and I had been looking for quite awhile for a Christian writing community online, so this was brilliantly perfect!

I was looking for "Christian Fantasy" sites and couldn't find one single thing that was truly Christian... That is until I clicked on this awesome link that said holyworlds

I learned about HW through Willow Wenial at a youth retreat. I had always had dreams of finding this kind of a site but had never been able to find one before.

Varon (whom I knew from ywp.nanowrimo.org) asked a mutual friend of ours, Tsuro, to let me know about Holy Worlds and ask me if I wanted to join. At least, that's how Tsuro explained it to me anyway. XD

I was a member of the Susie Magazine forums and got talking to some writers over there. They suggested I try inkpop as they had shared stories there and were interested in finding more friends there to read and exchange critique with, so I joined. I found it a bit dull and lonely, so I was talking to my friend over there called Greywolf, and she suggested HW since I was writing Christian Fantasy. I soon joined and was immediately welcomed but an Airi, fell into chat, and was pulled in by a Shawn, and have had friends ever since.
