This isn't a fantasy work, but this is the most active of the forums; so forgive me for transgressing.

S.H.R.A.I.D. is nearly to the beta-reading/input stage! (For details on the series, see here and here).

As such, I need at least four beta-readers. And no, I'm not asking for fans of me or my work, though I am very glad for the... two... I have.

I want skeptics.

I want people who don't know really me from Adam, who won't hesitate to give me "harsh" feedback, who will have no qualms about pointing out shortcomings in my art and craft.

If you think you can do that for me, here's my full disclosure:
The story is going to be ~20,000 words.
There is some mild (by secular standards) language. Our heroes are military men and women. Some swearing is to be expected-- that said, I ascribe to the 'representative, not immersive' school of writing, hence only 8 words in the entire book.
There is violence. We're killing supervillains. Stuff's going to get blown up.
There are some disturbing scenes. Supervillains are not sane. They do things sane people wouldn't, and our heroes have to witness and deal with the aftermath.

What exactly do you mean by beta-reading? Do you merely want ideas/storytelling feedback? Or do you want grammatical/typo feedback as well?

Sorry, I forgot to specify.

My primary concerns are with flow, voice, storytelling, and consistency of style/dialogue and only secondarily with grammar. That's the one area I know I'm strong in.
