My thumb drive wont open my document!

Although it opens all the others except this novel! I have updated what I saved on the computer. BUT I didnt update what I recently wrote so theirs a possibility that 6-8 pages of work is gone

So word of advice ALWAYS! KEEP A HARD COPY ON THE COMPUTER OR IN A BINDER!!!

Any ideas??? Its saying that it wont recover the content because its "insecure" or something like that.

I hope my husband can recover it.

I assume you mean one computer won't open the document on your thumb drive? In which case try to open it with a different program. What is the document file format and what operating system are you using? Windows?

It opened just fine last night on this computer...but you may have something there. It is Windows (i dont remember the year 08 i think my husband may have updated it). I dont know a whole lot on computers.

As to answer your format question-im sorry im not understanding it. Could you ask a little more plainly? Please?

right is it a .doc .txt or .pdf file. Right click on the file and hit properties to find out

My husband tried ...we will try it on the other computer that i originally typed it on after we get his new charger for it.

Im so sickly feeling because of this. But if i cant get it to retrieve- then at least its only 6-8 computer pages instead of the whole thing that i would have to retype. Because i do have it saved in mu doccuments on both laptops.

well hang on..... if you can email the file I can try to get it to open using some of my software. Shouldnt be to hard to tell if the file got corrupted or not

(this computer im using now is my "back up" computer...Its actually a yucky computer. Its slooooowwwww as molasses and the internet connection is AWFUL! But for writing stories its decent.

You may be best scrapping Windows and moving to Linux if it's all that slow. DO you know how to get into the control panel and find out your processor speed or what version of Windows you are using? Let me know what you decide then send a PM. I'll respond with the email address
