Oh. My.

Thank you, Lady Katharina, for organizing (or at least starting

) this virtual celebration.

In the small family celebration today, these were
Patricia Wrede's "Quick After-Battle Triple Chocolate Cake" (we got it from her collection
Book of Enchantments, which recounts the anecdote of her editor calling her after reading the story "Utensil Strength" to demand the recipe; that link goes to the first plae I could find online that gave the recipe in all its glory) and Neapolitan ice cream.

and whatever else is necessary for a birthday bash!
All that's
truly necessary is friends and fellowship. Which is sorely lacking in person of late, since my circle of friends dispersed after our graduation, but possible with modern technology.

There's only one major enemy in the world about which I write, so you wouldn't have to worry about being shot on sight

And militias are often permitted to design their own uniforms, so a military parade can be a riot of color.
Thank you all for your wishes on this my birthday. Unlike Bilbo's memorable party, I'm not going to disappear ... in fact, you might have wondered whether I
had disappeared. While I've done my best to keep up
reading Holy Worlds (by following the links in the alert emails rom my subscribed forums and threads as soon as I get them), I've let myself get months behind in
replying to threads. But I hope to get caught up (or at least
closer to "caught up") in the next few weeks. I don't intend for the "simplification" I mention in
my birthday blog post to entail silence on Holy Worlds; on the contrary, it may even mean more from me in the short run, as I work through my backlog of threads I meant to reply to and my list of worldbuilding posts on my blog I meant to rework into HW posts. (Possibly starting with
last year's description of the "the King's Birthday" holiday)
Again, thank you all for your warm wishes, and for coming to this "unexpected party," and ... this is ...
not the end, but ...
