I was inspired to start this thread because of my Mom

So basically what you do is post the name and author of the book(s) you're reading or have read and what your mom (or anyone in your family or someone you know) and how she interprets it.

*laughs* I'm reading Diviner by Bryan Davis. On the cover is a girl holding up a pendant and above her is a dragon.

Mommy's Interpretation: A girl holding a mouse with a lizard hanging in the air...

God bless,
Bethany

Behy, you are hilarious! (that was not a typo, just my nickname for her).

*Chuckles* That is hilarious, Alina, and sounds exactly like something my Mother would say.

My mom is fairly easygoing about book covers.

 I was reading a book called "Model Spy" and on the cover is a teenage girl with a computer on her lap wearing high heels.

Father's interpretation: A girl was going to a party while hacking someone's facebook account.

The title was on the inside of the book so he really had to use his imagination...

I was reading Red Rain,
Friend's interpretation (IS it okay if it's friends not family?): "A book about rain on Mars? Weird."
She didn't know that there wasn't water on Mars.

*laughs* That's awesome, Ethan and Reeny!

Ethan, yes! Of course! It is totally fine if it's your friends.

Leena, I would prefer if you didn't use that nickname for me. It's what my brothers called me when we were babies/toddlers and my family uses it for me sometimes still, it's kinda just a family nickname. :/

*Chuckles* It's so funny, I need to try this with my Mother sometimes, on a random book cover. I'm sure she'd come out with something quotable. :)

My sister saw the picture in front of my 'Hunger Games' book, which is the mockingjay pendant Katniss wears, with an arrow through the middle. She said:

"Why is there a duck, holding a stick in its mouth on the cover of your book? What does Fantasy have to do with water fowl?..."

Of course, she still insists mockingjays are ducks.

Simple solution, I'll call you Bethy.

Ha, this is a hilarious thread.

Right now I’m reading Saint by Ted Dekker. The cover portrays the main character holding out his palm to receive a bullet that a silenced handgun has just fired.

Dad’s interpretation: The guy never had a dad to tell him that you never put any portion of your body in front of a loaded firearm.

When she saw the Peter's Angel cover:

First words: "I hope that doesn't have anything inappropriate in it..."
My reaction: *facepalm*

Second words: "Oh, I love military novels! ^_^"
My reaction: *doublefacepalm*

I'm not sure how to get either of those out of that cover.
