I'm doing historical fiction (my very first time to try it out!) so I'm pretty much stumbling along stuff. :) What genre will you be writing? *sees Symphony on NaNo* *adds to buddy list*

lol. That's ok. You don't have to. ^_^

Very cool. What part of history? I'm writing fantasy: Giants, elves, and such. Nano buddy! What is your nano name?

I'm Lady Idril Aravis there. Just like here...somewhat. :)

I'm writing about World War II, about a specific event that happened in our place when the Japanese troops came and forced the surrender of many of the soldiers.

Ahh. Are you going to try again this year?

Sure can. One of them I saw someone already posted--The snowflake method. :) Of course, I haven't actually had success with them yet, so I won't know if they worked until Nano lol

I want to write all 100,000 words in a single month. I was originally doing Nano's 50,000, but I want to finish my novel, not just get a chunk into it, so I made a larger goal. I'm pretty confident I can do it this year because I am planning way more and have a lot more free time.

I edited the goal to 95,000 words. My fiance is making a program for me similar to Nano's statistics thing and I wanted a goal that I couldn't figure out the percentage completed in my head.

How long have you been writing, Lord Tarin? You have quite a lot of books in the works.

I liked To Kill A Mockingbird when I read it for school last year -one of two books in the English curriculum that had any lasting effect on me.
Can I shorten your name to Scout?

That is amazing!!!!! I can hardly imagine a goal that large for a single month. (And I thought I wrote a lot. :P ) Anyway, good luck with that. I hope you get it all done.

Yes, I do have a number of books in the works, all being part of my current fantasy series that I'm working on publishing. I've been writing for roughly 4 1/2 years, and besides my novels listed, I've written 5 others, all being more in the scif-fi/adventure genre. I'll get back to working on those after my fantasy craze dies off.

Very cool. You must write quite a lot to get all that done in only 4 years. Do you have a certain way you go about it? Certain days or times you write or something?

I was fairly serious the first couple years, but this past year especially, I've devoted a lot of time to writing. My formula is quite simple: 5 pages a day = 25 pages a week = 100 pages a month = 300 pages and completed book in 3 months. Sometimes I push myself too hard and forget that writing is supposed to be fun. :P I write at all times of the day, but I try to get the bulk of it done before dinner so I'm not as pressed at night. I really hate leaving things for the last minute.
