1. Do you believe there is a goal that is (or should be) common to all fiction and in some way definitive of fiction?Generally speaking, yes.  Everything in our lives should either glorify God, point others to the gospel, or help others (or ourselves) to enjoy our Creator more.  And if more than one of those goals is met then so much the better. 

Specifically, though, it depends.  I do not think all fiction needs to do the same thing.  One person may write a story to bring awareness to a specific issue they've been called to point out.  Someone else may have less "heady" purposes and simply want to write a good, clean, fun epic for all ages.
2. What is the goal of your fiction?  Ouch...very honestly?  This is something I've been re-evaluating lately.  As it stands now, the goal of my writing is to reach people's emotions and help them not only to understand truth, but to feel a little bit of it too...  So...in my current novel, the love of God for a wayward child.
