Hi! My name is Astronomer. I like to write and debate, but sometimes too much. Some of you may already know me (I've been on here a few days). I hope to learn how to write better and get my plots and characters more developed.
Thanks for putting up with me for the last couple days and I hope you'll continue to do so!

I like to write mostly fantasy with a little bit of science fiction thrown in. Write now (haha) I am writing a fantasy novel, a fiction story about stuffed animals that are alive, and I should have started on a cow dog story for my older brother.

I like anything Christian. Country, rap, rock, anything that has goods lyrics, a good beat, and brings praise to God. I especially like worship songs :dieshappy: .

Welcome to Holy Worlds! I can't debate to save my life but I do enjoy interesting discussions. ^^

Awesome! Any favorite bands? I like some rap, too, and I agree on the qualifying factors: good lyrics, good beat = good music. :dieshappy:

I sometimes write sci-fi, too. And lots of thrillers...

I only like a few country songs, but other than that, I like Christian rock, pop, rap, etc. best.

My favorite bands are probably Tenth Avenue North, Casting Crowns, Red, Skillet, Tobymac, and a whole bunch more I can't think of.

I like Dragons in our Midst and Oracles of Fire by Bryan Davis (though they do have certain qualities I disagree with) and I like Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (though they also have things I disagree with). I also like the Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis and The Door Within Trilogy by Wayne Thomas Batson. I also like most of Ted Dekker's books and Frank Peretti's.

Cool! I agree regarding the Bryan Davis books--they're great but have some things I don't agree with.
I also like Tolkien and Lewis stuff.

What stuff do you disagree with in Davis' books?

Well, I don't like how in the Dragons in our Midst books he makes dragons spiritual creatures--I don't believe that dragons were created with the level of sentience and spirituality that humans were.

In what I've read of the Starlighter series (I haven't read the other title you mentioned), I didn't like the way the God-figure was portrayed and things depended more or less on chance and the MC's capabilities.

How about you?

You haven't read the Oracles of Fire? That's the sequel series to Dragons in our Midst. And now he's coming out with another sequel series.

I haven't read the Starlight series, so I can't speak to that.

My biggest problem with the DioM (I didn't have a problem with the dragon part, because without that there would be no story) was the violence. I like how they were taught to fight honorably, but wouldn't true honor be willingness to die for a cause, rather than kill? That and it didn't seem that they were very forgiving at all. The main characters were forgiven, but any of the bad guys were killed off without a chance.
Those were my biggest problems with it.

Yeah, I can't get the next books from the library. :P

Interesting...I didn't have a problem concerning that, though I've only read the first book (like I said, I couldn't get the next ones), so maybe I would if I read more of the series. Though I do think that there are times when it is right to kill, I don't think it'd be right to do so if the bad guy was trying to repent, or had in effect become harmless to them.

I would respond further to that, but I don't want to start a debate. :D

Welcome aboard! I've enjoyed having you here. :) (And no, that's not just because Rambo makes me laugh. :D)

I am not a debater, but I somehow end up doing it on occasion anyways. :) I like logical things, and debating deals a lot in logic, so that might be why. Did you learn debating at school?

What did you disagree with in 'Lord of the Rings'?

Welcome to Holy Worlds, Astronomer! :D *hands piece of cake and a party hat*

I've only just finished reading two books by Wayne Thomas Batson. They were called Isle of Swords and Isle of Fire. :D They were really good. ^_^

I hope you enjoy your stay! And, like Airi said, we wouldn't be "putting up with you". ;)
God bless,

Thank you, Kidh and DairyMaid (love your name).

My main disagreement with the LotR is the violence. Still, some of the violence you can look at allegorically, but since Tolkien didn't want us to look at it allegorically, I'm not sure where I stand.
