I'm really extra excited about Christmas this year. I have no idea why, but I've been listening to Christmas carols all week, to the bewilderment of those of my family members who don't think it's time yet. Last year I forgot Christmas was coming at all until about the week before, so maybe I'm making up for it.

Anyhow, I love finding new Christmas music. Last year I discovered Trans Siberian Orchestra and loved it. This thread is for sharing your favorite carols, why those carols are your favorites, and providing links to new songs and artists for each other to try out.

My, my, it is a bit early for Christmas carols! ;) Well, I really enjoy the song Winter Wonderland by any singer. I also love Run Run Rudolph, but only because it has an awesome beat. :dieshappy: I don't really have a favorite singer for any of them, just favorite songs.

My favorites are generally slow, Christmas songs, so Silver Bells is a favorite for me. :D

I also love C is for the Christ child (I'm not sure if that is the correct title), I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day (both hymn and Casting Crowns version), and O Holy Night. :D

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen is a favorite. I get to play it on piano this year. *is excited*
Mary Did You Know
Are You Listening (which most of you probably haven't heard. My uncle's brother wrote it. And I can't even find you a link, because that would send you to the band website, and the Kelly Family Christmas isn't there...)
I'll come back with more.

I think my favorite is What Child is This. But I like most Christmas carols, or at least most of the Christian ones. The others can be nice, but I usually don't like them as much.

So I'm not the only one excited about it early this year?! YAY! :D

I'm playing "O, Holy Night" on piano this year! I LOVE that song. Many of the above mentioned songs are great, too. I also love the Muppet version of the 12 days of Christmas, found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDBMzGq1vhs

Carol of the Bells is pretty... Happy Holidays from Holiday Inn... there are so many! :D

Oh, I forgot about Mary Did you Know! I have a breathtaking piano arrangement for that. I should find it and brush up.

Ooh, I love Christmas, I have a CD with Christmas Carols on it and...yeah, I tend to play them all year round. I like Joy to the World, As with gladness men of old and While shepherds watched. There'll be more soon. :D

I love the song called A Marshmallow World sung by Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. Any time I hear the song Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reigndeer, I feel like I must get up and dance. :dieshappy: Let's just say that I feel that way with every Christmas song, though!

I'm back with more. I uploaded my Christmas playlist today for my sister and it's playing now, so it seemed appropriate.
I figured out a way to show you Are You Listening. I can't believe it didn't occur to me before, actually.
Here it is, Are You listening, by Anthony Kelly.

It's officially cold enough for Christmas where I am. No snow yet.
Winter Wonderland
We Three Kings
Mary's Boy Child
Little Drummer Boy
Mr. Grinch (I'm serious, it's one of the funniest christmas songs ever.)
When a Child is Born (I'm a big fan of Bonny M christmas songs. If I get to choose the CD, it's Bonny M or my Uncle's CD)
White Christmas
Old Toy Trains

*has been strongly encouraged to come over here *

On HWSF I was asked to post my recording of me singing One Small Child for a sound and pitch test for the Christmas Pageant. It is just me singing, which is sad. :( The song is so beautiful with the music. Very powerful.

Anyway, here it is. I love the song. :D

That was lovely, Airi. I have the piano music for that song, and I played it a couple years ago, but I never learned the words. Very pretty.

I just remembered another favorite -- The Christmas Shoes. It's not really a carol, but it's still a Christmas song. :D

I like the Christmas Shoes quite a bit.

Aldara: I've never liked anything to do with the Grinch. :/

I found one the other day, instead of Mariah Carey's 'All I want for Christmas is you, Baby', this little girl sang 'All I want for Christmas is you, Daddy'. It was so sweet!

Well, I have been working on this. It is not done, but I figured I'd show you what I have, thus far. It is the 12 days of Christmas... fantasy style. ;)

The 6th and 12th day have ? at the end of them because I'm not happy with them. They are subject to change.

On the first day of Christmas the king did give to me, a knight in shining armor.

On the second day of Christmas the king did give to me, two golden goblets and a knight in shining armor.

On the third day of Christmas the king did give to me, three

On the fourth day of Christmas the king did give to me, four fortresses,

On the fifth day of Christmas the king did give to me, five dragon eggs

On the sixth day of Christmas the king did give to me, six jeweled medallions?

On the seventh day of Christmas the king did give to me, seven Elvin archers

On the eighth day of Christmas the king did give to me,

On the ninth day of Christmas the king did give to me, nine dancing fairies,

On the tenth day of Christmas the king did give to me,

On the eleventh day of Christmas the king did give to me,

On the twelfth day of Christmas the king did give to me, 12 fiery Phoenix ?

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Works in progress:

I'm not sure if there is a thread to this effect already, so please excuse me if there is, but I was just curious, what are the HWer's favorite Christmas songs?

Mine are:

Hark, The Herald Angels Sing

O, Holy Night

Carol of the Bells,

and, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

What are yours?

[EDIT] And I can see there was, :dieshappy: thanks for moving it!
