My first novel, A Knight from Dein has been available on Kindle since September. The Createspace paperback book is available on Amazon.

It has 518 pages, 174,000 words, and has been a real labour of love - eight years and eight drafts.

[/b]I would also hugely appreciate it if anyone who reads the book could put a review of it on Amazon. Three of the reviews it has received so far all complained about the Christian content.

You can download a free copy in pdf, ePub or Kindle format from here:
http://www.obooko.com/obooko_fantasy/bookpages/fantasy2/fan0130-free-ebook-knight-from-dein-stone.php

Here's the novel's cover and blurb:

Image

Sir Carl Hardcourt, a merchant-knight from Dein, must make a difficult decision. Will he fulfil his obligation to build his father's commercial empire and forsake his chance for courtly love? Or will he heed the call of chivalry and offer his sword to the King of Tenham, who is making a brave yet futile stand against the invincible hordes of grey-skinned, humanoid amalehqs, lead by their brutal king?

The Tenhamese Prince Terrance Whitgrave is headstrong and impetuous, but will face betrayal, terror, and dishonour beyond his comprehension. Can honour, once lost, be regained?

The Lady Sabina Vipont, considered by all to be the most beautiful woman in Tenham, has been promised in marriage to her love, Prince Terrance. Yet not in her worst nightmares could she have imagined the terrors her future holds due to the insatiable lust of another man - a man she loathes.

I'm afraid I'll have to wait for the paper copy. I never manage to get around to reading PDF novels. I've tried. *checks* It's still sitting on my desktop where I'm sure to see it...

It sounds quite good though, sort of like a book I'm reading now, only exciting like it should be. :D

*adds said book to "The List"*

All resemblance to persons, people, friends, relatives, quotes, cultures, artificial intelligences, inside jokes, pets, unclaimed personalities, sentient objects, extra-terrestrials, inter-terrestrials, and draperies living, dead, undead, or comatose in any of my work are purely coincidental, incidental, circumstantial, inadvertent, unplanned, unforeseen, and unintentional. There's seriously no way I was referring to you. Honest.

I'm enjoying it! I can't review it on amazon, I don't have an amazon account...but I can try and see about something and I might be able to. :) It's pretty annoying that the only people who reviewed it objected to open Christianity. :P

Your book sounds fascinating, Peter. I don't have a lot of time on my hands for reading at the moment, but I would be willing to read it sometime in the beginning of next year. :D

Great to hear your enjoying it :) Those Amazon reviews were somewhat frustrating in how they responded to the Christian content. One even complained that my book had a 'moralistic undertone.' Wow, what is the world coming too :'(

If you can't review it on Amazon, that's fine. Maybe you could put a review somewhere else?

What good is a book (fantasy in particular) with out a moralistic overtone?? I know... I think big. :D

Bold writing, Sir. I've only finished Chapter Four and I'm already sad twice over... That is, I would be if I weren't planning to do horrible things to my characters now.

Indeed - isn't that supposed to be the goal of good fiction? To present good morals and characters who grow and develop through the plot? (Or am I watching too many kids shows with my kids...)

And, thank you for your feedback and I hope I haven't influenced your plans for your characters too much D:

God bless
Peter

No, that's what all the reviews say a story should be like when they compare Harry Potter to Twilight... One can hardly be expected to play to the least common denominator when attempting to write decent literature.

Just so you know, I'm still slowly working my way through this book. I recently started college and such, so I've had little to no time to read. That's why it's taking so long. :/ I've loved what I've read so far though, and I plan on reviewing it as soon as I finish it entirely. :)
