This is my first volume of short comic stories. I'm looking for critiques and blurbs (the latter for my website so give me a first name and last initial with that.) Let me know which stories are the best and which are the...worst. :P Thanks!

Wow, these are funny. Are these based on actual experiences? I really like 'an educational experience' and 'constructive hobbies.' that's as far as I've got...

Some of them are loosely based on true things, but for the most part they're fictional.

Most of my humor stories are actual events. When I did write one that was fictional it was based off of an actual event. That's why I asked. :D

Real life does sometimes provide very good inspiration, but in my case, my imagination is so hyperactive that I come up with too many fictional things before I even have a chance to write about something that happened. And the fictional things are usually more entertaining...

Yep. I know how that is. That's what I did with The Sugarbowl Suicide. I felt like I was messing with reality, but I took an actual event, based the story off of actual characters, and messed around with it as much as I liked. My parents loved it.

I always feel weird about writing about real things, or things that pretend to real, or that even are based off of things that actually happened. I've had a couple of story ideas that I never wrote because the main character was someone I actually knew in real life and it just... didn't feel right. Most of my poems are written for or about someone real and I feel like it's not my poem, it's theirs.

So I stick stubbornly to Fantasy until I start finding myself drifting into the world of allegory, actual people and events disguised as fantasy...

I got to page 116 and I'm lovin' it! My favorite so far is 'The Untamed Wilderness of Wal-Mart.' There are a couple of errors in spelling and grammar, I might fix some of those and send you the edits, if you want them. By blurb you mean a paragraph review like is on the back of a book, right? :)

I'll write one, Forlendo. I loved the stories! Very hilarious...I couldn't put your book down and was reading it when I should have been doing homework. :P

Anyways, the blurb:

"This humorous collection of many short stories relates the escapades and adventures of Matthew Lauser, written in a friendly, informal style. This great fictional autobiography will keep you laughing for hours, and you'll love reading another one of the author's great stories."

Andrew J.

Not sure if you might want to change 'the author' in the last line to something else. :) I just didn't put your name because it's the same as the main character, hence confusion. :D

Thanks, that's a good blurb. :)

And yes, Elanhil, I'd be happy for whatever edits/critiques you have for me. Just make sure they're plainly marked so I can find them. Some people I know have just changed things and I have no idea what they changed. :P

I love hyperactive imaginations! I'm going to bookmark your thread and read through all your stories.

I noticed a few spelling errors, but it seems that Elanhil has caught those. I was laughing out loud reading these! Thanks, they were hilarious! :D

Just so you know I haven't forgotten you, I've sort of postponed it to catch up on the community story. :D I'm working at about 1 story a day, so it'll be 1 or 2 or even *gasp* 3 months!!

I'll get back to you, though.

I've read quite a few of them. They're really funny! I love it!

:D

If you've read the whole book, I'd really appreciate a little paragraph review.

“Yes sir.”
I sat down and wrote ‘I can do a word problem in four minutes a hundred times in your notebook’. Then I raised my hand.
“Yes, Mr. Lauser, what is it now?”
“I’m done.”

Just started reading... I already love these! xD

You're welcome. I've read them twice now, and laughed when something came up that pertained to one of them. :D You did a good job.

It's still under construction...go to my personal page and there are links there for my various books. When I upload the revized homepage it'll have links right there direct to the book pages.
