Review of the Book

Red Rain

By Aubrey Hansen

“You'd think Christians would be more discreet and compliant.”

The most important thing that Red Rain has right is its message of what is right, and the courage to do it. The challenges to the protagonists convictions are made very real. Their troubles are not carelessly displayed, but clearly and meaningfully shown.

“I was informed today that, as a Christian, I have no choice.”

It is very real to read in many levels. You can experience it. It is remarkable, but in a real sense (remarkable things are real by the way). I think it can be experienced even better when you read it the second or third times, once you know the characters so to speak.

“It had been almost six months since anyone had died because they refused to go to school.”

God is given the glory.

“God had this more perfectly planned than I thought.”

As my younger siblings say, it is one of my “best” books. One of my favorites. Thank God for a good book!

Red Rain by Aubrey Hansen is unique in some ways, being one of the few Christian science fiction stories on the market today, and the only Christian science fiction novella I’ve ever read. It’s a short read, but the simple story is well-told, with an endearing heroine and an atmospheric setting. If you like science fiction, stories about young adults, or wholesome entertainment in general, then you'll probably like Red Rain. It is safe for most readers, with only a bit of mild violence and some intense scenes.
