My friend Bek has recently gotten me hooked on films and miniseries by Charles Dickens, chiefly Bleak House and Little Dorrit. Has anyone else seen and enjoyed such series' by Dickens, and do you have your favourites? Discuss the merits of the books vs. the movies if you like. |

Our Mutual Friend! It's my absolute favorite of Dickens. I saw the miniseries first, but naturally the book is better and helps to make sense of things. It has a great mix of romance and mystery. |

It's rather complicated and doesn't really center around one character or event... |

My favourite is definitely Our Mutual Friend. Second favourite would probably be Little Dorrit. |

Okay, I think I must see this one. I was discussing Dickens vs Austen with my friend Bek, and we both agreed that Dickens' stories are so much more interesting for two reasons: one, they put across a distinctive theme in an exaggerated and sarcastic way, and two, the characters are so much more varied than in Austen (and no, there was no real reason why we were comparing Dickens and Austen, we just did I really like Pancks from Little Dorrit. |

You should definitely try to see it, Bushy! If you like the other Dickens series, then I'm sure you'd love it. |

Okay, this is definitely on my next-to-see list, I'll hopefully see it sometime soon and then I can come post back here on it. |
