The Dark Knight came after that.
The Dark Knight Rises is going to be the final installment in the trilogy.
I shall really try not to get too worked up about some people not liking them.

Yes, they're rather dark, and a little gritty, but that's a huge part of why they are so good!
The messages in them and the questions they bring up are really good, and I love the symbolism, and the drama is handled really well, and they're really clean...*continues to geek out about Batman* Oh...and did I mention Christian Bale is in them?
LOL. Anyway.

You can probably guess that I'll be going to see it at some point. Probably not opening night, since my town has a curfew, but...

Dude. She's awesome.
Yes, Batman Begins came first... an *amazing* way to open the trilogy, with Liam Neeson of all people playing the villain... soooo good.
Then you had The Dark Knight. Oh. My. Word. Heath Ledger's final performance of his life deserved much more than the Best Actor Academy Award he received for the role. People will study his performance a century from now to learn how to portray the perfect villain. He actually became depressed because of his role, and became addicted to anti-depressants that eventually killed him.

He gave it his all, and it is phenomenal. Heath Ledger's Joker is the greatest on-screen villain I have ever seen.
Well...for the TYPE of villain (meaning full-out, psychopathic, pure sin), Heath Ledger did the most fantastic performance.
However, there are other types of villains that I appreciate as well. (Loki, anyone?

)
Also, the Batman movies raise really, really good philosophical questions. How much of the bad guy's methods can you use to defeat said bad guy? How long fighting evil before you become evil yourself? How much influence can one man really have in a world dying in darkness? Is the world an ocean of chaos, or is there purpose? Are we products of external forces, or do our choices matter?
Etc, etc, etc....
AND it's highly quotable. I LOVE this quote by Alfred describing the Joker,
Quote:
Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
And yeah, I'm hoping, but slightly afraid that Batman IS going to sacrifice his life for Gotham. I went to see the Avengers again last night, and in the trailer Catwoman said, "You don't owe them anymore. You've given them everything!" And all he said was, "Not yet."
Sooo...*holds breath* We'll see.
And now that my extreme geekdom has been revealed, I shall stop talking.
