Has anyone seen the TV Series, Game of Thrones? I have heard a lot about it, but although I watched the first episode, I never persevered with it.

Would you recommend it? What did you like, or dislike, about it?

TV show is all I hear about.

I hear it's mostly politics with the very rarely occurring baby dragon.

Not interesting to me. =P

(And I hear it's very R-rated which may or may not bother me personally because I don't know how far they push that... I really just don't care. XD)

I read the book. It is very interesting and well written as well as being very, very R-rated.
From what I've seen of the show it is very faithful to the book.

Yes it is about politics if but very medieval politics which doesn't really have anything to do with speeches and the like and more to do with raising armies and chopping off your rivals heads.

I started watching one episode. A lot of nudity and some crude sexuality just thrown at you out of nowhere. :P

Thanks guys! Doesn't sound like something I'll put on my To Watch list then. :D

No it isn't. The books though are not that bad so I here. Most of the bleah stuff was added in the show.

Aah well, I stopped reading the books because of the sexual content. I thought they might have missed it out of the series. :P

Ah.... no. Funny, my Granddad was saying there was not so much sexual content in the books (he's reading them at the moment).

Hmm, well maybe there wasn't loads, but what there was in it was bad. :P I hate reading stuff like that.

Eh, the books had just as much sex in them as the show does, from what I hear. I find it mildly annoying that people are more shocked at sex on the screen then sex in books.

Game of Thrones is the best television show currently running, in my opinion. I didn't watch much of the first season, but I watched the second and am watching the third. There is a certain amount of nudity (and violence, don't forget violence) so that probably renders it unwatchable for many of you. It's a shame, because the acting, production, and plot are the best I've ever seen on any TV show, ever. ( The second season was a bit meh at points but the third has been absolutely fantastic ) The real highlights for me are the performances. The show has to feature a gigantic ensemble cast, and they are all incredible, especially Peter Dinklage ( of Prince Caspian fame ;) )

I dislike much of the nudity, because it often seems gratuitous and offensive. The violence is extreme, but it's usually plot-driven, and the show is great at showing the consequences of violence and other wicked behavior; the anguish of mothers, the rebellion of children, and the finality of death.

Overall, I wish I could recommend it, but if you know that certain elements would cause you to stumble, then please steer clear. Even the best TV show that has ever been isn't worth the cost of a hardened conscience or a shaken moral standard.

Yeah, the amount of sexualize content and often extreme nudity in both book and show made it so that it wasn't even worth my typical research. :P

I borrowed two of the books from the series I believe, and after I had skimmed over the first one I just took them both back. :P
