The Hunger Games. In payment for their past uprising, each of the twelve districts must offer as tribute to the Capitol one male and one female between twelve and eighteen years of age. These tributes are to participate in the annual Hunger Games tournament, which means surviving in a vast outdoor arena while they fight each other to the death — until only one remains.

When Katinss Everdeen’s younger sister is chosen to be the twelfth district’s female tribute, Katniss desperately volunteers to go in her place. She and the male tribute, Peeta, find themselves in a strange, new brutal world upon their arrival at the Capitol. As the Games draw closer, Katniss and Peeta train, get to know some of the other tributes, and try to learn just who they can trust — if anyone.

Then, after weeks of training and being mentored and publicized, the children begin the Games.

Can Katniss survive the harsh environment and keep from being murdered by the other, more experienced tributes? Can she outsmart the system as the game masters begin to manipulate the environment? And among all the horrors, can she maintain her character, her humanity… and her sanity?

I really enjoyed the Hunger Games movie! I'm reading the third book right now. :D I was glad to find out that it was very similar to the book. :) I just didn't like the way they explained the reason for the Hunger Games. It was too quick and I had to explain it to some of my friends that didn't read the books and did not understand. :/

I really enjoyed the Hunger Games movie, but the book is better. I wouldn't recommend it for children though! It's not really graphic, but it's very violent.

I did too, Airi! I think it was Tuesday night with Mother, Dad and Rachel. I still really enjoy it; I'm not sure Mother was so keen, but Dad liked it.

We had a movie fest together, Elanor, and didn't know it! Tuesday night was when me and my family watching it, too. :)

I thought the movie was well done, but I still maintain my views about the books and movie playing into our culture's obsession with death and violence. However, as I said, it was well done.

*likes Grace's review*

I just watched it last night. It was all right, but I found parts of it boring, probably because I read the book first. There were a couple scenes that kinda seemed odd because of a lack of the development that they had for them in the book, and should have been explored and explained further.

Best scene they rendered was the tracker jacker nest. Did a fine job with that.

Overall pretty good, just not what I was expecting.

So, who is going to see The Hunger Games, Catching Fire? I'm going to see it tonight, and am really looking forward to it! I haven't read the books, so I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen/where the story is going!

It's out already here, but I don't know when I'll get to see it. I did just watch the first film recently, and I'm still in a mix over what I feel about it. :P

I saw it and wow it is crazy amazing. The characters are - man. I watched it over a week ago and I still can't articulate why I like it so much. Gah.

For some reason, I absolutely adore the scene where Peeta's heart stops and Finnick gives him CPR. Maybe the fact that Katniss was helpless, just pleading and shaking because she thought he was dead, and Finnick was doing everything he possibly could to save him. It made me cry. *sniff*

For a summary of how intense it was...let's just say that when I went to the bathroom afterward, I almost attacked an innocent automatic dryer because it kicked on when I wasn't expecting it. Literally, I almost punched it.
