Ooh! Ooh! Little sis, you like Star Trek too? We watched five of the six original films last year, and now we're getting the show from Netflix and watching one a week with Daddy. |

I have never seen them; I think I saw a tiny clip once on my Nana's TV and I didn't like the look of them. But I guess you can't form a sound opinion without watching a whole episode. |

I really like TOS. I didn't like any of the other shows or movies. I did like the J.J. Abrams new star trek movie though. |

I've only got my hands on about 6 or so episodes, but I love them They've got great stories, I really don't see how they are ever going to make it out of the problem they get into, but they do. |

If only the new movie had been clean enough to recommend to people and put in the library. |

Yeah, the new movie was really good. Except one scene. Fortunately it was easily skipped. |

Mr. Spock and Doctor McCoy are the best characters. |

The Wrath of Khan was the first of the older movies that I saw, it is still my favorite of them. |

I've seen a handful of episodes, and I really liked them. Yehoshua Mimetes wrote: I did like the J.J. Abrams new star trek movie though. Me too, except for the scene you mentioned. (Though it was kinda funny the first time we watched the movie. The friend who loaned it to us warned us that there was an inappropriate scene early on. Obviously, my mom didn't want us to see it, but since she wasn't exactly sure where it was, she would shout "Close your eyes!" every time a new scene started. We probably looked pretty silly. I thought the characters were very well done in the new movie - especially Kirk, Spock, and Dr. McCoy. I loved learning about their different backgrounds. |

I know how that is. My mom does pretty much the same. |

I liked TOS, in all its cheesy glory, except for the fact they feature a half-dressed female in... every other episode? Two out of three episodes? I'm with Yehoshua. Spock and McCoy. I also enjoyed Chekhov a lot, although in retrospect I've no idea why. |

Chekhov is just cool, I think. Wrath of Khan is my favorite of all the ones I've seen, the movie, I mean. |

Whoever watched the Star Trek Into Darkness announcement trailer released on the 6th, along with the Japanese version of it released on the same day, and the Teaser trailer released two days ago, can probably see the parallels between Into Darkness and Wrath of Khan. Among these are - Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing a canon character. However, the name released was John Harrison. Perhaps Khan's "real" name from the 1990s? Spock (I assume) doing the classic "V" salute to someone wearing a black sleeve (Either Cumberbatch's character of Kirk) through a glass wall Cumberbatch saying that he "has returned to have his vengeance". Kirk speaking at some sort of assembly could be a memorial for Spock, coupled with the honor guard folding the Federation flag and the fighters flying overhead in the "missing man" formation. Cumberbatch says "Is there anything you would not do for your family?" That implies that he has lost family himself or someone close to him. That could be his Eugenic brethren. The Enterprise takes some severe damage. (Of course this may not be a very large clue as to whether or not Cumberbatch is Khan) I use the following sites for maximum Star Trek news coverage: Trekmovie.com Trekweb.com Ex-astris-scientia.org Trektoday.com TrekCore.com (Which has all of the above) Startrek.com/newsarticles airlockalpha.com/news/all scifistream.com |

Wrath of Khan is one of my favorite movies EVER, so it would be super exciting if that were so... although I have severe doubts as to Benedict Cumberbatch being Khan.

Well, it'd be sort of a nice homage to the Original Series (Except that they'd have to guarantee that they'd get a 3rd movie). One more thing. Alice Eve - lady in first teaser trailer while Benedict Cumberbatch says in the background something like "Enjoy these final moments of peace" is Carol Marcus. Someone on one of the sites I posted in my other post said that in this universe she must have become a Starfleet scientist (Hence the blue, because I doubt that she would have gone for medical) This is also plausible since in the Prime Universe, Kirk and Marcus met a couple of years before TOS started, which was 2264. Here's a week-old article that looks at the Khan and Gary Mitchell angles, along with a few others. Most of the points are pretty good. http://www.startrek.com/article/one-tre ... he-trailer |

Oooh! Trekkie thread in the Fantasy forum! *eee*! Mmm...I thought Star Trek: Into Darkness was OK--although I haven't seen Wrath of Khan (I know, I know, bad me!) So I didn't get a lot of it.......personally I thought the first one was better. (But my opinion can be voided since I have no idea who Khan even IS) Some scenes were amusing, though. Particularly the disrupted Starfleet Officer conference... Ps I LOVEEEEEE the original Star Trek series! A rerun comes on tonight (2nd half of "Menagerie", I believe,) and I cahn't wait! |
