| So what fantasy book do y'all recommend as a must read for me? I've just finished up the four novels I've been reading and realized I haven't read a fantasy book in a while. Do not recommend these books as I have read all of them: Anything by J.J.R. Tolkien. The Chronicles of Narnia. The Inheritance cycle. The entire Redwall series. The Princess and Curdie. The Princess and the Goblin. Inkheart trilogy. Peter Pan. Dragonspell. The Wind in the Willows. | |

| Hrm... Ranger's Apprentice - John Flanagan The Skin Map - Stephen Lawhead Peter and the Starcatchers - Dave Barry I'd suggest some books by Brian Falkner but they are more like sci fi. | |

| The Restorer et al by Sharon Hinck is one of my favorite series, if you can get that it's really good. The Changeling Sea by Patricia McKillip is also very good. Her writing style is one of my favorites. 100 Cupboards by N.D. Wilson is delightfully creepy as well. | |

| The Dragon King Trilogy by Stephen R. Lawhead was fairly entertaining. Here's a review thread I started about it: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1643 | |

| I'm really looking for the "must read book that you can't believe I've never read!" | |

| Only if your folks are good with it, but Harry Potter is a well written series. Other than that: The Myst trilogy Not quite fantasy but This Present Darkness is good. Dracula is phenomenal. | |

| Some might think it's girly. The first book is from the perspective of a mother of four, but the second and third are quite different. Unfortunately, to understand what happens, you have to read all of them. | |

| This isn't a book that I "can't believe you've never read" mostly because hardly anyone has...but The Great and Terrible Quest is one of my favorites. The ending makes me happy and giddy inside. | |

| 'The Archives of Anthropos' by John White. Very good. The series was started because White's kids asked him to write a Narnian type story, but the story is very original (and if I haven't already mentioned it's very good). The series is in my list of 'Absolute Favorite, Favorite Book Series'. | |
