So, I was wondering if any of you guys have seen this film? Would you recommend it?

I was looking at it earlier and really fancied watching it but I've heard some very bad reviews for it so thought I'd see what you guys thought first/or if anyone of you had seen it! :)

Ok are you talking about the new remake or the original?

The old one really isn't worth watching. The new one is good if you like that sort of movie. if you can take some PG-13 stuff then you won't mid it. There's a lot of violence and one very greek scene *cough*Zeus. (though it's not too bad.)

Lots of eye candy and extremely thin characters. At least that's the way I saw it.

Perseus character was good. No one else in the movie really had much character.
The action, cinematography and special effect are really what carried the movie.

I didn't really like it much. The characters were pretty flat, and the fight scenes were really irritating, because they were so shaky and odd. Seeing it in 3-D was terrible. Just really bad on the eyes.
It makes me sad that with all these retellings of the myths that the characters are all so flat. There's so much potential in that; what would it be like to find out the king of the gods is your father? If you found out you had this fabulous destiny? But I've never really ever found anything that I could really believe. It's all either "Daddy!" or "Well, I hate you. Get away." But then it always changes to "Daddy!" with very little actual development. No working throuh of the issues at all. It just makes me really sad. I'd love to see some talented person try to handle the myths. It could be fabulous. There's so much to work with.
Oh, and the stupid actor had a stupid buzz cut. He appeared on the screen and I could only think "Oh dear, this can't be good." Just so bad. If the guy doesn't look good with long hair don't hire him. There are other actors that could've probably play Perseus better. I don't like that actor much anyway. In Avatar he was alright. But the best moments for his character was when he was blue. And the lady held him up during his weak moments. And when he did have to be himself, he was mainly tired and emotionless. Not hard to do, really. So I didn't care for him. But at least they didn't get Nick Cage.

The old version, if that's what we're talking, is cool in it's sentimental value and because of that little owl.

I'm talking about the new one. :) I didn't realise there was an old version. Problem is, for me anyway, when I see newer films with the really cool special effects, old films just get lost and don't hold as much.

I thought when I'm away I could borrow it to watch, if I do I'll let you know what I think when I get back. :)

I personally liked it. It had a good amount of action, and there wasn't much (if any... I don't remember) language. There was a part involving Zeus that could have been left out, but it is a part of the story that kind of helps to clear things up. There wasn't too much blood and gore (but there was a bit), but I thought that it was a very good story-line, and a very intriguing cast of characters.
However, if you aren't the kind of person that can handle any sort of violence, or any kind of suggestive content, then I wouldn't suggest watching it.

In film circles "Clash of the Titans" is a by-word for horrible 3D quality.

Really? I'm an active film maker and have not heard it described like that.
It was not filmed in 3D it was converted afterwords so the filmmakers did not intend it to be 3D. Same thing with Narnia, Green hornet and lots of other new movies.
(There all just trying to horn in on the 3D ticket prices.)

It's absolutely terrible. Their 3-D was the first that's actually physically hurt my eyes. It kind of permenantly turned me off of 3-D. But I'm saving lots of money now so yay CotT! Much more money for books and cofee now. :)

3D is best when it is filmed natively in 3D.

And yes, it's well known that 3D doesn't get much worse than what was in CotT.

Actually Narnia's 3D was worst by all accounts.

(both look real good in 2D.)

I haven't seen Narnia in 3-D, but I heard it's alright. It doesn't do much, just make a few things pop out more. Apperantly there's one thing, the shape of a lion in the stars, that you can only see if you watch it in 3-D.
Pretty clever of them, actually, "Did you see the lion?" "No, what lion?" "Oh, I guess you can only see it in 3-D." "What lion?! I have to go see!" And so they go shovel out 3 more dollars to buy a lame pair of glasses. It didn't work on me, though there's a little nagging part that thinks I should. So maybe it will.

Post-conversion never works well.
And with Narnia it messed up all the lighting.
(The director was mad when he found out Fox was going to put it in 3D.)

I bet he was. He's a fairly by-the-book director.

You're offtopic, you know... <smile>

**whispers** I saw Narnia in 3D. I didn't hear about the 3D only stuff. I personally did like it in 3D a lot, but it's my first 3D film.

To get back to Clash O' Titans. I recently read some stuff on how they converted it to 3D as a last minute thing and they ever had to back the release back so they could finish it in time.
(That was real bright of them.)
(It looks amazing in 2D. Long live 2D!)

I've ordered it off Love Film as well as the DVD player there didn't work properly, so it skipped some of the really exciting parts and I was like...Aaaaaaah! But yeah. I loved the different costumes, I loved the way they protrayed Hades, he was amazing. I liked the way they protrayed heaven and the way Hades was secretly trying to ruin Zeus. I loved the pegasus, yea I just enjoyed the whole film. There was some great action scenes and I didn't see anything bad in it at all, but as I said it did skip some parts as the dvd player didn't work properly. It's gonna be one of my favourite films of the year I think. :) I can't wait to see it again properly.

The follow on to this is at the cinemas here at the moment; Wrath of the Titans, which I'm tempted to go and see. :)

Wrath of the Titans has definitely caught my attention, so I may have to watch this one so I can watch the sequel.

I liked the first one better. The second one had some interesting line blurring with Hades, but I'm not really sure if I think that is a bad thing... :)

Erm, I must confess I haven't even watched a trailer for the second one. I just thought I'd watch it. I suppose watching the trailer would probably be a good idea. ;)

The Rainbow in the Storm- My Blog

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Works in progress:

The Diegosian Mark, 115,600 words (Preparing for Publication)
The Diegosian Rider, 121,400 words (Finished)
The Diegosian Warrior, 15,000 (In Progress)

Yes, I did too. :) Which is why I'd really like to see the second one.

I liked the first one better. The second one had some interesting line blurring with Hades, but I'm not really sure if I think that is a bad thing... :)

I agree, but I really liked the second one, but I don't think they'll make a third one. :'(
I liked the actors they chose, and the storyline.

In the end we're all just memories. So make sure people remember you as a good one, and not a foul one.
