I'm not sure if that's actually what's happening, or just rumour, which there seems to be quite a bit of.

Who thought there was going to be an Iron Man 4?

An Iron Man 4 would ruin it. :P 3 ended perfectly.

I really hope Chris doesn't quit as playing Thor... I mean, I guess they were able to exchange actors for Hulk, but I feel like the interesting sibling dynamic between Loki and Thor would have to be different though, with a different actor...

Sorry, that was me - I just know that there are rumors about it, and Shane Black and some others, I think, in interviews discussed it, along with Don Cheadle and Gwyneth Paltrow.

What I do know is the director of IM3 will be doing a Doc Savage movie. :dieshappy:

Nothing solid on IM4 or anything, though.

How sure on you on the Doc Savage thing, Varon? 'cuz I haven't heard anything, save 1 single interview.

What is the target release date for Doc Savage? Phase Three, right? So 2016 or 2017, because I doubt they'll get another movie out after Ant-Man kicking off Phase Three in November 2015.

Pretty sure. It's been officially confirmed, but it will likely take several years since I don't think it has a script yet. It won't be any of the phases, since Doc Savage isn't a Marvel character.

Ah, I see. I've heard several people talk about an Iron Man 4, and I'm sitting there going "I haven't seen anything on that... how did I miss that as a possibility?"

I agree, Aussie. 3 ended things. It should stay that way.

Does anyone know if any IM3 scenes were removed from the China version? Or was it just scenes added?

Personally, I would love to see an IM 4 as I am a fan of character. From what I've been able to find out, I think there will definitely be another film especially seeing as how successful this one was, but it probably won't come out until The Avengers 2 or 3.

Two more Marvel Studios Films for 2016 and 2017!

Release dates:

May 6th, 2016
May 5th, 2017

That puts them within Phase Three, perhaps?

Both are Fridays.

All MCU movies have come out on Fridays, or is slated to be released on Fridays.

Of course, this may not mean that they will be part of the MCU, right?

Still. I'm thinking the 2017 one could be the next Thor or Captain America films, or both could be completely separate, starting their own film series, like Ant-Man, perhaps? But Ant-Man comes out November 6th, 2015, and that's a little close.

Love to hear your speculations!

Thor comes out this year and Captain America comes out next year, so it is possible that Thor 3 would be 2016 and CA3 could be 2017, but I'm not sure. I've heard rumors about a Hawkeye and Black widow, though that is not confirmed. Plus, we must remember that there will be at least 2 other Avenger movies.

So speculation is very up in the air right now. :D

Involving Avengers 2 and 3: Spoilers for Iron Man 3.

Robert Downey Jr. to return for both as Iron Man. Would love to see even one suit that he could use.

And, yes, I heard about the Hawkeye and Black Widow movies, but those are, I think, fan-based rumors that have no grounding.

The first time I heard about those was when people were talking about Robert Downey Jr.'s and Samuel L. Jackson's contracts with Marvel, stating that they were supposed to appear in 8 films or something like that, so people were like, "What movies are they going to be in?" and they started suggesting those.

I also heard about a Nick Fury and Maria Hill movie during the above speculations.

Yes, each actor had to sign on for 3 films for their own Superhero, and three avenger films that they would also be in. However, they also had to sign on for 2 more possibles, just in case. At least from what I have read that is the scoop on the contracts.

Okay, so here is the newest news:

Quote:
Disney and Marvel Studios are planning even further ahead than ever before. Last week Disney claimed two more release date slots for unannounced Marvel films coming in 2016 and 2017 and today they’ve officially announced that Robert Downey Jr. will continue to have a key role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel is happy to announce that – after reports of tough negotiations – Robert Downey Jr. has officially signed to return as Tony Stark aka Iron Man in both (still untitled) The Avengers 2 and The Avengers 3.

Iron Man 4 – at least at this point in time – is not part of the plan for RDJ as he aims to clear up his schedule to pursue other projects. Although Shane Black teased the idea of Iron Man 4 & 5 with Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow’s mixed responses about more installments held true and Marvel aims to focus on expanding the MCU and introducing more characters from the Marvel Comics library, beginning next year with Guardians of the Galaxy.

Despite Marvel holding the (for negotiation purposes) position that they’d be willing to recast Tony Stark, the “I Am Iron Man” quote from the film series couldn’t be truer. Robert Downey Jr. is the poster boy for Marvel Studios’ success and replacing him would be as challenging as it would be disappointing so it was inevitable he’d return in some capacity. Joss Whedon’s praise of the actor and his admittance of having every intention of working with him again for The Avengers 2 – which begins shooting early next year – played out just as we expected and the world can breathe a sigh of relief that he’ll suit up once again when Earth’s Mightiest are forced to join forces in summer 2015.

As for the idea of cameos or guest appearances in other Phase Two and Phase Three films, don’t count on it. From the get-go, Marvel President of Production Kevin Feige made it clear that the next set of films are more standalone, and unlike in Phase One where it was important to emphasize the shared continuity and build towards the main event in The Avengers, it’s no longer necessary with the brand earning its place in pop culture.

Iron Man 3 stood entirely as its own, and while Thor: The Dark World takes place partly on Earth it may follow a similar isolated story pattern while rumor has it Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the story that will bridge The Avengers 1 & 2. After that, Marvel ventures into unexplored territory with its “twisted” space-faring adventure in Guardians of the Galaxy which is not only a standalone story as well, but features an entirely new roster of heroes and villains, leading up to The Avengers 2 and then another new character’s origin story in Ant-Man.

With the Iron Man solo series on break for the forseeable future, the timing makes sense that with Phase Three of the MCU, Ant-Man steps into take over the first chapter duties.

I must say, I am very happy with how things are shaping up, and I can't wait for Phase 2 of the Marvel Universe. :D

I'm sure that by now, you've all heard about Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron, coming out May 1st, 2015. So happy for the title.

I think Joss Whedon said it'd be a new take on the origin story of Ultron, so that'll be interesting to see, especially if Ant-Man doesn't have his own movie until six months after the release of Avengers 2.

Anyway, Ant-Man needs a movie since he is the creator of Ultron

The Ant Man that will be in the movie wont be Henry Pym but the second Ant Man Scot Lang an Ex-Thief turned superhero using Pym's suit. It might be Eric O'Grady though. I heard this from one of those movie panels.

I see, they MIGHT be using the "The Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes" story line on A-M.

Here's a little synopsis, that I made, about the TA: EMH...... But I don't know about the rest of the comics of Marvel about Ant-Man.....

After the 'Age of Ultron' (In which the Ultrons turn rouge) Hank Pym leaves the Avengers, because of the Ultron problem then finds his Ant-Man suit missing from his private safe.

Meanwhile, [I think it is Eric] was using the suit to steal money to pay the debt of his old colleague. While Hank asks help from the "Heroes for Hire", Iron Fist and Luke Cage (who is in "Agents of Shield" TV series).

Then after a chasing [Erik] around the streets in his 'ant' form, they (the Heroes for Hire, and Hank) attacked the colleagues hideout. But Hank lets [Eric] keep the Ant-Man suit, because he believed that Ant-Man (the suit) had a personality the Hank couldn't keep, but he rejoined the Avengers in a different suit, with a different personality, but he still could turn small. And her became the Yellow Jacket.

I'm a marvel fan. ^_^

Since Ultron gets a different origin story, I'm suspecting he's some version of an Iron-Man suit thingie gone rogue. Maybe J.A.R.V.I.S. pilots him. Either Stark or the government could have made him--I'm not sure--but it seems to be the most likely origin of Ultron, and would also give Stark a reason to come back in if Ultron is his fault.

Well, Ultron was made by Hank Pym. In which I forgot to add.

I believe Henry Pym will exist as a old retired superhero in the Marvel Cinemavurse or at least that's what I've heard and Scott Lang an Ex-Con and skillful technician will steal the suit in order to try and save his daughter. Whether it be from thugs like in the cartoon or heart defect like in the comics. Either way expect to see lot of CGI rendered Ants, overgrown environments, and bad-guys having the snot beat out of them by a man no bigger than an ant. Awesomeness shall ensue.

They hint HEAVILY at Luke Cage in the Agent of Shield Previews. However it seems they want to focus on the none powered heroes of the show (The SHIELD Agents) so he will likely only get an episode or two featuring him.

Mhm. Given that Pym won't be in Avengers II, however, and given that Whedon said that he gets a new origin story, I don't think that this version of Ultron will be created by Pym.

They actually confirmed who the guy was in the previews, and it wasn't Luke Cage. It was someone else.

Oh really? I cant for the life of me think of another black superhero with super-strength who has an incarnation that wears a hoody? Don't get me wrong Ill take your word for it! But I cant figure out who else it could be maybe someone new? Or unique to the series? Shame I like Luke Cage one of the few Black Superheroes where the fact that hes black doesn't come off as a gimmick.

He's one of the much lesser known heroes in a lesser known comic series. I'll try to track it down..

EDIT: Rage from New Warriors. That's who it seemed to be, but research uncovered it might not be, since they have changed someone's ethnicity.

It is definitely not Luke Cage though.

I know that one already. :) Now those people attacking Captain A are S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Don't worry Balec. I only found out yesterday. =)

It's awesome! I'm so excited.

You guys see Andy Serkis? He'll be playing Ulysses Klaw!

I read on wikipedia that Andy Serkis will be doing something in the film, but I haven't heard anything about him playing Ulysses Klaw.

And I thought the new trailer was amazing!

No, it's not confirmed that Andy Serkis is playing Ulysses Klaw. But it's most likely and the best speculation.

Since Ulysses Klaw is the enemy of Black Panther, and if Cap's shield is broken, they'll need someone to repair his shield. Black Panther is the only one with vibranium and can repair Cap's shield. But the other is Odin... *cough cough* Loki I mean.

Got lots of official news. Almost forgot to post here.

I feel like we need a Marvel Cinematic Universe thread, because a lot of the information relates to the MCU, not the Avengers specifically.

Avengers 3 official title is The Avengers: Infinity War - Part I & II, coming May 2018 and May 2019, respectively.

Yes Marvel officially released the whole list of films all the way from 2015 to '18.
