I saw it, liked it much. Wish I hadn't seen it in 3D.

I never watch movies in 3D anymore. It's just not worth it. :P

Huh. I saw it in 3D and liked it a lot. Thought it was definitely worth the two dollars more.

I began collecting comics in the 3rd grade, in the early 1970's and have Avengers Comics #'s 100-200 and another group of heroes at the time, The Defenders #'s 1-100, so I am very familiar with both. I saw the movie opening night as well as a few days ago in IMAX 3D and thought it was awesome. The special effects for the heroes make them actually feel real and plausible, especially Captain America. The film makers did a great job in pulling out the various personalities of so many characters in one movie (which was my big concern). There was action, of course, coupled with a good storyline and humor. Even the Hulk looked much better than the previous attempts. I loved one of the lines from Captain America (who is the 1940's traditional values hero) in which Thor and Iron Man have jumped out of a plan to go after Loki (Thor's brother, both of whom are referred to as gods or demi-gods). Black Widow tells Captain America he should "sit this one out," as he grabs a parachute to jump out after them... she continues, "they are after all gods." He replies, "Ma'm, there's only one God and I'm pretty sure He doesn't dress like that." :D Love it.

I love the Avengers movie, and I'm not one who goes all fan wacko over movies much at all. But the Avengers? Forget 'like', I love that movie.

My Dad took my two brothers and I to go and see it on opening night, and we were practically cheering throughout the whole movie.

My Dad was a comic book reader as well! I think those who watch the superhero movies with people who've read the comics from when they were kids have an awesome advantage over those who don't. There are nuances and details in the movies that only comic book readers notice, and that makes the experience of the movies themselves that much richer. My Dad spent almost an hour discussing The Avengers with us after we'd watched it, giving us backgrounds on the characters from what he'd read when he was a kid, pointing out the character quirks that come from the comics, even some events and characters left unnamed in the movies that he recognized right away. For me, that made all of the movies -- especially the Avengers -- all the more fascinating. I admire how Marvel made the movies appealing to both those who have never read the comics, and approved by those who have been reading them forever.

On its own, The Avengers, in my opinion, is one of the best, most expertly crafted action movies out there. And I'm picky about my movies enough as it is! I give it five stars, and can't wait to see it again.

I agree with Arien, it's worth seeing in 3D!

I saw it in 3D as well. :)

My friend who went to see it said he thought there was way too much going on in the one movie. He preferred the single individual films. *Shrugs* I personally liked it a lot. :D

I went and saw it again last night. It just gets better the more you watch it. :)

Did I mention how much I loved the early scene with Pepper? Her banter exchange was really good.

Hopefully me, my brothers, my father, and his father will go see it again on Sunday...early Father's Day outing, since Stephen and I will be in Kansas on actual Father's Day.

I haven't seen it yet. I'm waiting for it to come to my library. But I'm excited; I've never read the comic books themselves, but the movie looks really cool. I'm looking forward to watching it.

I bought it the day it was released. I can't wait to get home and watch it with Mindy, who has not seen it but has prepared herself for it by watching Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor, Captain America, and The Incredible Hulk. :D

And Mindy and I just finished watching it. She for the first time and I for the second! :D It was just as epic as I remember, and I even caught a few things the second time around I missed the first time. I'm still trying to figure out how I missed Stan Lee the first time around!!!

Eh? Stan Lee? Who did he play?

Avengers. Is. Awesome. We - my dad, one of my sisters, and my brother - watched it the day after it came out.

I am anxiously anticipating Avengers 2, Iron Man 3 (For the tech - it always has and always will be. And JARVIS, too.), Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Thor: The Dark World. (All of which are a part of something Marvel is calling "Phase Two", with "Phase One" being Thor, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Avengers.

Himself. He was playing chess at the end in the news interviews and said something along the lines of "Superheroes? In New York?" that is incredibly funny since so many of his characters are in NYC.

Stan Lee has a cameo in practically every marvel superhero movie. Usually a small comedic role. Mainly because he was involved in the creation of most of these heroes or at the very least affected them at some point during their long spans of continuity.

I'm not a big comic book fan mainly because I can't afford them. But I have loved superheroes for many years. I most likely will start reading them once I have enough money to blow.

My favorites usually fall along the paragon of justice archetype: Superman, Captain America.

But I really like Nightcrawler that Demony looking funny charming teleporting religious Roman Catholic (Almost to the point he chose to become a priest but it got ruined by some bad guys trying to kill him). He is a fun character. I was so sad when I learned he died in the comics (Heroically as any superhero worth his salt would be glad to go down fighting to save someone he cared for).

Think there should be a Superheroes Holy Worlds group? If so, I think Bible Man should be banned. He's kinda blasphemous and cheesy.

Oh and I love the Avengers.

We've got a couple of people working on superhero projects.

I never liked Bible-Man.

I can't wait for the second one. I've probably already said that, but the suspense is killing me.

Well considering that Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron man 3, Captain America 2, Thor 2, and Ant Man have to come out before then I think your going to have to hold onto your seat for a while. Good Luck.

Muhahahahahahaahahahahahahahha!

Why is there no maniacally laughing emote? :(

Oh, I mean a whole Superhero forum.

Thanks. :P

I'm seriously looking forward to Captain America 2 though.

We do that over on HWSF.

I know this isn't really about the Avengers, but...

*Thanks Manda so much for telling him*

I am so excited and can't wait!!! I adore the trailer! It's going to be epic. Tony Stark without all the toys. All he has left is his mind. Which, of course, was his greatest weapon from the beginning. :dieshappy:

Ironman 3 looks promising.

I'm very dubious of "Guardians of the galaxy" though. Rocket Raccoon? :/ Really?)

Oh, he'll have his armor still. Nanobots.

I think GotG will be pretty cool. I love the idea of a sentient raccoon with machine guns and such.

I'm so sorry, but the second time I watched the trailer, right after the missiles hit and you see Pepper and Tony flying, I focused only on the Bunny-Stark with the arc reactor behind them, and then I thought "You can't destroy that cute bunny!"

*keeps forgetting to post here*

So.

I'm an Avengers fan. Kinda majorly. XD
I've never been that much into superheroes, despite writing a super-esque story, but when my dad first brought Thor home to watch, I shrugged and said 'why not?' After all, Thor is almost more fantasy than superhero. So I watched it. And loved it and then watched Captain America. And loved it. I've not seen any of the Hulk or Ironman movies yet, but I might someday.

So, anyway. I just recently got to see the movie and loved it.

My only question now is, don't Hawkeye and Black Widow get their own film now? :beg: Because Hawkeye rocks. I loved him when he cameo-ed in Thor and after watching Avengers, I loved him a lot more--because they made him a cool hero, and not a general jerk. XD

And those of you who have seen it are probably staring at me in confusion since he was a 'villain' for most of the movie. But he wasn't really, it was all Loki's fault, and he was just so cool. He needs a movie, whether or not Black Widow is there too is optional. XD (But the two of them do seem to have a lot of history together so...)

I don't even remember where I got this information from - so it's probably fake - but supposedly Hawkeye is set for a 2014 release and Black Widow for a 2015 one.

However, since I haven't heard anything from anywhere - Marvel, Wikipedia - It's probably wishful thinking.

However, what is confirmed is:

Iron Man 3 - May 3rd, 2013 (Rumors say that Ant-Man will fight Chen Lu in the after-credits scene)
Thor: The Dark World - November 8th, 2013 Won't be about Loki, I heard, something about a newer enemy as Loki is a 'good guy' now.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - April 4th, 2014 The Winter Soldier is Bucky, or something, but he's evil? I don't know anymore...
Guardians of the Galaxy - August 1st, 2014 Will have Thanos, the guy from the after-credits Avengers scene.
The Avengers 2 - May 1st, 2015 Said to be more personal, more emotional. Someone may die.
Ant-Man - November 6th, 2015

Yes, Winter Soldier is based on the comic arc by the same name about Bucky (or a fake Bucky) that Red Skull brainwashed and twisted into hating Cap and America.

Hawkeye and Black Widow are not currently set for their own movies, unless that news, which would be huge, has entirely escaped my notice.

Somehow I'm unable to take a superhero with the name of the 'Ant-Man' seriously. :P

Is it a bad thing that a secondary character was my favorite--or, for that matter, that a secondary character is almost always my favorite? I'd take Hawkeye over the others any day.

Ant-Man? In Avengers? Really? I heard a rumor that they would put the Fantastic Four, except that Captain America is the same actor as Human Torch. Ant-Man is the guy who can become big or small just like Atom from DC, right? :D
