I think Thor 2 will probably be based in Asguard, since that's where Thor and Loki both go at the end of Avengers. It seems like there is a lot of unfinished business up there, and if they do it that way, they might introduce the new bad guy on Asguard which could then overflow to earth in Avengers 2 or something. /ramble

Thanos won't be in Thor 2, unless it's a surprise. :P

It's been confirmed. He's in Avegers 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

I found an article where apparently, Asgard will be under siege by the dark elves. Not sure how true it is or not but I'll check up on it and make sure. Either way, I'm excited about a Thor sequel. My sister and I are huge fans of the character.

Oooh! Dark elves.

We accidentally borrowed the wrong Thor movie from the library and watched it just because we didn't have anything better to do, and - contrary to expectations - it was pretty good. Anyway, one of my favorite characters was the dark elf, uh...gonna have to go look his name up. Ah! Algrim.

Animated superhero movies often do a lot better than live-action, at least until recently. Even Superman.

I guess that counts as a random fact.

I don't know why. I personally prefer live-action as opposed to animated. At least for superheroes anyway. There a sense of realism that you just don't get with an animated superhero film.

I like both, actually. I don't find realism as something I consider to be very important regarding superheroes.

Aye! And when the ending was drawing to an end, all the Tom Hiddleston fans cheer. ;)

I got Thor from the library on Thursday. I had ordered it (along with Iron Man) back around New Years' so my mom could preview them. She thought Iron Man was too violent, so we couldn't see that. We just now got Thor. She previewed the first bit and said we might actually get to watch it.

So I'm excited about that prospect. :)

Well, I watched it last night (armed with popcorn, cheese crisps, and sodas ).

I really, really liked it! I loved the way the actors portrayed the characters, and I got all excited when I recognized elements added in from the actual Norse mythology. My brother had to rewind (and rewind again) the part where the S.H.I.E.L.D. guy is like, "Hey, we have Xena, Jackie Chan, and Robin Hood..."

Of course, maybe I shouldn't have watched that movie last night on all nights. The end made me cry. :P It wasn't even particularly sad (at least, I don't think so), but it made me cry anyway.

To all the people who watched the "avenger" movies (Iron Man, Thor, Captain A) if you go to the endings of the films, there will be a short "film" of what happened after the movie.

They can't kill Loki. He's redeemed in the comics. From bad guy to good guy, albeit mischievous good guy. ;)

I've hear rumors that the strong Loki element in the movies (Thor and Avengers) is because they plan on showing his redemption through the trilogy. I'm not convinced we'll see it come to completion in the second movie, but we might. I think it would be better if they bring it about gradually, though. He's bad in the first one, he's struggling in the second, and he rises victorious in the third.

I have perused the comics, but I'm honestly not sure where to start reading. o.O Plus, I found some of the girls to be a bit on the sketchy side... are they a good read, Airi?

Plus there's 50 odd years of stories to choose from.

In the ones I've read, Loki's always been a villain, albeit sometimes working with the heroes, and sometimes not. Granted, the movies aren't really sticking directly to the comics.

Yes, and most of the comics sometimes, have this villain who dies, then in an earlier comic, the villain is still alive.
It isn't consistent.

Thor: The Dark World trailer is out - little snippet at the end for all you Loki fans. ;)

I'll post the link here in case no one's seen it yet...which would be kind of weird...

Yeah, the comics tend to drive me crazy because of the inconsistencies and the constant mistakes they make in storyline and also the parallel universes. Those really drive me crazy.

It's because they bring them back from the dead. They did it to Superman, and they did it to Captain America, then there also the reboots that restart the character from ground zero.

The little I hear of the Marvel comics is enough to turn me away from them. :P Too much weirdness for me. At least in the Spiderman series... Course, I'd guess that Spiderman isn't an anomaly in weirdness in Marvel...

Weird is cool.

I've not read any of the Spider-Man ones though.

Yeah, I haven't either. :P But the plot lines I've heard of, A supernatural villain being re-writing time so that Parker's no longer married to Mary Jane, Dr. Octupus permanently mind-switching with Spiderman so that Spider man dies and Octupus is Spiderman is a bit too weird for my taste. :P

Commenting on the original discussion, since I haven't yet, the movie trailer for Thor 2 looks awesome. Still trying to figure out what exactly the black spike thing that's carving its way through London is, though. o.O Still not fully wrapping my mind around what that thing could be...

Oh, those things aren't weird at all for comic books. The second one I found rather poignant, actually, a final victory in the final sacrifice.

Looks like a ship of some kind.

They could be setting up for a darker Avengers 2. I know that someone (I think Joss Whedon, maybe?) was saying that they wanted it (Avengers 2) to be darker, more personal, and more painful To me that says "Kill someone off", but...*shrugs*

I know that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have been confirmed as a brother-sister duo that will join the cast of Avengers 2, and in the comics, the Scarlet Witch was part of the House of M storyline, and that one was a bit darker, I think, and did kill some of the Avengers. Then again, the Civil War reality/timeline/thing killed a lot of them too.

Yep, Civil War was rather dark and painful, which might happen in Avengers 2, based on comments that the phase 2 movies "sets up loyalties for the second Avengers."

I'm expecting it to be more like Empire Strikes Back, almost.

Spoilers for Civil War: Yeah, I like the premise and the set-up, and felt really bad as to the whole War aspect. I hated it when they killed Goliath and Cap.

I did too. Especially Cap. Granted, he wasn't really dead. Just trapped somewhere.

But we're getting off-topic. We should probably move this to the Avengers thread.

Yes, Varon, I agree.

So, back to Thor. Never saw the first movie, except for the last few minutes, I think...

That's unfortunate. It's a fun movie.
