While I don't consider it to be a masterpiece quite like John Powell's score for HTTYD, I really enjoy the music for this movie. As far as the orchestral part goes, there are some epic moments and quaint themes. The moment where Flynn pounds over the bridge on Maximus is swelling, but my favorite part is "Kingdom Dance." As far as the theatrical numbers go, they're all pretty catchy and blended into the story well. :D

*waits for Jonathan's extended post*

Yes, do see it, Aussie, and then tell us how you like it! :D

I really like the movie "Tangled" I think it was kind of thought out well with some of the characters. I think Maximus is a funny horse. ^_^

Also when she was regretting leaving the tower, that was really funny.

What do you mean by that? Do you have any specific examples?

(I'll get you to talk more... even if it's just by defining your terms!)

What did you think of the music? :D

Well, I think you said it best on CF:
Aubrey Hansen wrote:
The problem, as I see it, with Tangled, is that Disney backed themselves into a corner by making the right choice look wrong and the wrong choice look right. On one hand, we have the choice to listen to our parents or run off with a guy we don’t know. At that level, of course I’d choose to stay at home! But on the other hand, we have the choice between escaping from a tyrant or willingly staying in captivity. Where’s the choice in that? Disney mixed the two and made a complicated scenario that could easily be taken as feminist when it isn’t necessarily.

It’s their own fault. The choice to set up the story that way was deliberate. They could have set the story up differently, or they could have chosen not to amplify the implications. It was a deliberate decision on the filmmakers’ part to add all this “When will my life begin” and “Mother knows best” overtone. They didn’t have to, but they did, and it reaped problems. There’s no question that you can take that as a feminist message if you wanted, whether or not it was intended that way.

As for me, my final opinion is that I wouldn’t have done it that way, and while I, as a mature and discerning viewer, can still enjoy the story and find other interpretations of the message, I won’t write a story like that.

I agree.

And I liked the music. :D

Well I finally watched this the other day with my 5 nieces that are all under 7, I liked it pretty well for a princess movie. The art was pretty nice, not as well done as I thought was going to be but very nice just the same.
(I didn't like it half as much as the little girls liked it  )

@ Airi the light song, when they're in the boat. :)

Mother and Dad watched it last night. Mother cried at the end and Dad was laughing so much at all the funny parts, so sweet! I love it. I am definitely gonna buy it to add to my collection.

Mine too! Which surprised me.

I totally loved the movie. It was frank, vibrant, funny, and sweet... I loved the characters characters. :D I haven't a problem with the rebellion. As Airi said, it's not a prevalent theme, besides which, I understand the immense draw on Rapunzel to break those boundaries--it was more than a 'dream'... it was a desire instilled in her by the very circumstances of her birth. Considering, I think she was right in 'rebelling', simply because her 'mother' was wrong. (I know the dangers of saying that. If you promote the fact that Rapunzel was right and Mother Gothel wrong to a rebellious generation, you may hit a LARGE problem, and I really can't make excuses for it. But I like the movie all the same. And I think Rapunzel is properly torn. :D "I am a despicable human being!")

And the music! Like, WOW. They are so cool and catchy. I love musicals, the only part I wasn't too keen on was the last part of 'I see the Light' where Eugene and Rapunzel sang together. I thought the dialogue was fantastic--natural, clean and hilarious... and I loved the plot.

I watched it... how many times? Four, I think, which isn't many, but when you consider the many rewinding's and fullforwarding's and little-scene-watching's and all the rest....

Did you know that the guy who voiced Eugene (Zach Levi) is an Evangelical Christian?

Edit: And her hair was SO COOL! I could really live with hair like that.

Zachary Levi is so talented and awesome. :D

In a 2002 interview with Relevant Magazine, he said, "My job on my set, I believe, is to first just love people and gain that trust with people where they know that I really do love them and care about their well-being, so that when they are running into problems, they will hopefully, at some point, come to me and ask me, 'What is your peace all about? What is your comfort all about? Where do you get your love? Where do you get your talents?' And I can turn to them and say without blinking, 'Jesus Christ.'"

My favorite song in the movie is actually I See The Light. :P

I remember reading that somewhere.

My favourites are probably I See the Light and When Will My Life Begin.

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

Ditto!! :D

Random bit of geekiness - I was at Wally-World the other day and got an awesome Tangled poster. I'd post a picture of the one I got, but sadly I forgot to buy sticky-tack, and without that, I can not put it up on my wall to take a picture of. :( Fortunately, Google has a picture of one just like it.

Purty, yesh? It should look nice with the Star Wars one Melody got a little bit ago. XD

Okay guys, I drew the tower for you, although I should have made it taller. :P This is inspired by the tower in the movie, it is not exactly like Repunzel's tower.
