Has anyone seen the movie Secretariat or read the book? What do you think about it? Was there anything you loved or hated about it? Do you have a quote you like from it?

Well, I have seen the movie, but I haven't read the book. And I love the movie!!! I would like to read the book sometime, but for now I'm okay with just the movie, because I like it so much. This movie is probably one of my favorites, and I did really like some of the quotes in it. Here are two of my favorites:

"Quit sneaking around!"

"What? You don't like my hat?"

So, what do you think?

I love this movie, Rachel; I have never read the book but we watched the film as a family and we all loved it. I think family friendly films are a treasure to find these days, and that was one massive gold pot. Mother went out and bought it the day after or something like that, she liked it that much after we borrowed it. :)

I'm not a horse person so I really didn't get into the movie.

I love this movie! My little brother didn't want to watch it at first but he ended up in the room with the rest of us. ;) Fantastic movie. I was screaming all during the races, and in the last one... * shakes head * It still seems impossible. My only thing was that it had 2 words, I believe. They weren't overly emphasized, but they were there. :P

I enjoyed it! I'm not much of a horse person, but it was still a good, clean movie. And the horse trainer cracked me up.
I wasn't impressed how the main character (forget the name, forget all names in the movie) neglected her family for the horse, but it's a pretty small issue compared to most in movies these days.
I would certainly recommend it to somebody.

@ Phylis: I thought that they did a good job portraying her struggle to balance her family and the horse, personally. :)

And the horse trainer...

"He's trying to retire."

"Any other questions?"
"Just one. How much did you spend on that hat?"

I thought that too, Shawn. I liked the way they showed that.

I loved it when he was playing golf....Or at least trying to. That was hilarious!

I LOVE this movie! 'Tis one of my favorites!!! It's on the "tied for second depending on my moods" movie list. I felt like it was just one giant piece of moving art! And, as I am learning French, I could understand about half of what the horse trainer (Lucien) said in French.

My mom told me that her understanding of Penny's relationship with her family vs. the horse was actually that she really didn't neglect her family for the horse. She spent more time with her family than the movie showed. The time was very balanced out.

When we were in the movie theater watching the movie, there was this lady in the seats ahead of us and she was reacting to the characters in the movie. It was great, and really enhanced the movie watching experience!

I also LOVE who they got to play all of the characters. They were all so perfect! And the guy who played the really rich guy... :P Did anyone else notice that he was the farmer from Babe? His face is so distinct. I also loved the guy who played Eddy, the horse care-taker.

Lucien: "Fore!"
Golfer: "Hey, watch it!"
Lucien: "Well, I yelled fore! That's what fore means!"

I did! He doesn't look exactly the same, but I recognized him. :D

I haven't seen it. My dad and mom saw it, and they weren't impressed. I have seen the real race, though. It make my blood tingle and my heart soar (yes, I love horses!). What a horse. I think it's awesome how everyone was saying that Secretariat would collapse, because he was just going as fast as he could for so long, but he didn't. It's amazing. I could go on and on about that race :D
In fact, here's the Youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS4f6wiQJh4&feature=player_embedded
Also, who thinks that Secretariat is the awesomest name ever for a horse?

Oooo... I love all of those quotes you posted! But my favorite is the last one you posted, Captain Nemo! Even now I'm laughing out loud. You got to love Lucien!

Lady Elanor: Yep, trying to explain it!

Oh yes, *remembers now* That horse movie. There are so many.

I didn't mind the movie, but it didn't grab me... :( I just couldn't get into it, and I didn't feel for the main character. She just didn't... I don't know. This would be one of those movies I saw and didn't invest much energy into remembering.

There were some funny moments, though. :)
