Reclaiming the Blade is a wonderful and very educational documentary about the sword, featuring John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) as the narrator, Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), Karl Urban (Eomer), and Bob Anderson (fight choreographer), as well as several scientists, fencing schools/martial arts schools, and sword fanatics. The history was fascinating, the animation was superb, and the interviews were excellent. I would highly recommend getting the 2-disc version for the special features, as they were one of my favorite parts of the film. Featured in the special features were sword training videos, a short documentary about forging a sword, a short film about the Jedi movement in New York and other areas, and much more. If you are interested in learning more about swords/knights/medieval culture etc., I would suggest this as a good start. :D

Amazon, eBay, etc, etc. I don't know about stores, though. You'd probably have to order it online. My dad got it for me. :D

Saw it on Amazon once and thought it looked interesting but decided not to get it. Your glowing review might make me have to rethink that decision.

The one drawback for me was that they messed up on some of the special features...skipped back to the main menu. You couldn't see the second half of one or two documentaries, which really annoyed me. Still, that might have just been my copy. *shrug*

Yes! Another behind the scenes, making of the movie, documentary buff! I want all the special features on everything! I learn so much that way. This one was very good by the way.

I love love love that movie! I learned so much about sword fighting, which helped with writing my story. I recommend it to every single person on Holy Worlds.

That said, there is a tiny bit of content. They show some movie clips, with sword fighting scenes, so there's some gore there. (One guy gets run all the way through.) The clips are very short, and it's easy, in this setting, to remember that it's just special effects. It didn't bother me. Or, rather, it wouldn't have bothered me if my eight year old sister hadn't been there.

So, not for little kids. But y'all aren't little, so I still recommend it to every person on Holy Worlds. If your book has sword fighting in it, and you don't know much about swords, watch this. It will tell you a bit, spark your curiosity, and send you happily off to your research.

I watched it at my aunt's house. She got it from Netflix. I think I have seen it available on Youtube.

I know, right? This movie taught me a lot about swords, but it also made me want to strive for accuracy and genuineness in all my sword-fighting scenes. Honestly, if you are a Holy Worlder, you are likely to like this movie. Who else has seen it?
