I have never heard of this author before. But I might check out some of his books when I have more time to read. :D

I have watched all the Nicholas Sparks movies, but have never read the books.
I heard from someone that the books, like the movies, were "somewhat inappropriate". Do you think that's true?

"The Notebook" suddenly sounds familiar in some way. Was it a movie too?

Yeah, it's a movie. As well as A Walk to Remember, Dear John, Last Song, and coming soon The Lucky One.

I think my cousin has it. Didn't Switchfoot play a song for it? :?

Dear John is a film I have heard of, and I have also heard of Notebook. I haven't seen them though.

Yes, they are a bit inapropriate for younger children, but some books have less and some have more. And... they are making a movie for The Lucky One??? o.O

The film of the Notebook has quite a bit of nudity and some funny scenes; Dear John has one bad scene; they were recommended by someone a while ago who said they were good, but because of the content issues I never watched them. I do like romances, but they have to be clean for me to enjoy them.

Yes! I wouldn't recommend the movies unless you're allowed to watch PG-13 movies because they are a bit inappropriate... That's the only part I really hate! Couldn't there be romantic movies/books without all that stuff? :D

I know, it's so hard to find clean romances these days. :)

I read A Walk To Remember because I loved the movie so much, but I don't like his writing style. It was one of those rare time when I prefer the movie.

The Notebook (movie) I hated, and I'm really not at all eager to give any more of his books a chance, to be honest.

Then again, maybe I'm just not into romance =P

I do normally like the books better, but in this case I do really love the movies A LOT better! His writing style is different then other of my favorite authors... Does anyone know if The Vow is a Nicholas Sparks book?

The Vow (the movie) is not a Nicholas Sparks book, although it has been compared to his style of stories.

Yes, they are making a movie of The Lucky One. Although I wouldn't recommend seeing it, there is nudity in the trailer!!!

Yes, Switchfoot did play a couple of songs for Walk to remember. My favorite is "Only Hope".

By far A Walk to Remember is the cleanest of all the Nicholas Sparks movies. The Notebook would be the worst.

Dear John is OK, I wasn't a huge fan of the story line, and there is one scene which shows inappropriate relations.

I didn't watch, The Last Song, because I can't stand Miley Cyrus!

As I said above, The Lucky One, didn't look that great morally wise. Which is too bad because it looked like it had a pretty good plot.

Aww man! Thats really too bad! I really liked The Lucky One as a book(other than the inapropriate parts)... and it did have a good plot. The Last Song was not too bad(unless you count Miley Cyrus being in it). But A Walk To Remember was my favorite of all time! Definetly one of the sweetest movies ever!

I've seen The Notebook and A Walk to Remember. I enjoyed both of them, but I haven't seen The Notebook in forever so I can't say how much I liked it. I listened to Safe Haven on audiobook and really enjoyed it, and I want to see the movie for it too.

A Walk to Remember is awesome. Super cheesy, but if you are looking for cheese, its great. The movie is awesome as well, just keep in mind that its almost nothing like the book. So, if you read the book first and then watch the movie, don't go looking for the book. However, if you go in thinking of the movie as a separate entity from the book then its a great movie. And yes, Switchfoot did a song for it called "Only Hope" which is awesome as well.

Now, The Notebook. Don't even get me started. I loathe this book (and the movie) more than I loathe any other book in the universe. Including Twilight. I think it partially has to do with the fact that I read the book when I was 12 and lets just say I learned a lot of things from that book that I probably didn't need to know when I was twelve. Either way, it scarred me.

Now, as a 21-year-old with more knowledge of the world, I still despise the book. The story is terrible, its based on lust, not love, and WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU LEAVE JAMES MARSDEN? I hate stories where the main character leaves her perfectly awesome fiance for some old fling dude that didn't work out in the past because "spontaneity and true love". It depicts a terrible picture of what love actually is.

Plus, Nicholas Sparks's writing is sub-par at best. He writes to make money. And most of his novels follow a similar format. As for all the movies that have been made lately . . . they are sappy, badly written, and badly acted. If you are in the mood for intense sap crap and can handle it, then by all means, go for a Nicholas Sparks book, but if you are looking for something with substance (something that creates tangible, complex relationships and characters) then I would look elsewhere.

The only Nicholas Sparks movie I have seen (never read the books, I'm not really into Spark's genre) is A Walk to Remember, which I liked fairly well. It's not my favorite movie for sure, but I didn't think it was bad.

I'm juts not into hard core chick flicks. My version of a good chick flick is Prince of Persia.
