I'm changing my goal to two world building articles a month for now, since I want to focus on some of the more complicated aspects of my world, which will take longer to write.

Keeping the goal of working on the map (I might try designing one of the continents using the RPG Game Maker program I have, since mapping is even more fun when you're doing it with cool terrain tiles XD) and adding a new goal of creating a timeline of major events at least up until the birth of Langford.

Sounds good. :D I...am going to modify my goal too. :P I've been working on figuring out the history of the Human race in my fantasy world.

Ok, so I have created the World of ViV that is comprised of The Seven Lands or Realms of Light. Light has distinct purposes in this world as well as the absence of light. I'm determining whether to have each realm have a different aspect of light.

That sounds... very cool, to put it simply. o.O

Post subject:  Re: World-building Accountability - February 2013

I have been doing quite a bit of research into the 'aspects of light', both that which we can see and that which we can't. I've also been thinking greatly about the process of how the different lands of ViV came to be and here is an idea that I had:

ViV used to one great landscape where every one of the aspects of light and life flourished, until the great Battle of Beginnings happened. It was during the course of this great battle that the land of ViV itself was torn apart into the different Lands of Light it is today. Each land holds a particular aspect of light which determines the traditions, customs and culture of the people there as well as their appearance. The landscape of each land is also affected by whatever aspect it holds.

Now, I'm going through the different aspects of light that I've found so far and determining how they shape each of the lands and the peoples.

If anyone has any resources on the different aspects of light (books, websites, videos, etc...), please let me know.

*gets all excited about HF but refrains from derailing the thread* Writing a novel is a good reason to slow up on world-building, but do make sure you come back when you're done with that novel, y'hear?
