Welcome to week thirty-two, fellow questers! Your goal this week is to write a sonnet to what you had for supper. Yes, I know it's silly. That's half the fun. Work against genre conventions. Your NaNo goal this week is to get your character trapped, whether it be in a swamp, a locked room, whatever place (not situation) you want to think of, and then freed/rescued. I warned you these would make the experience more interesting. Wait. What are NaNo goals? I was just going to tell you. Can I do them even if I'm not doing NaNo? For certain! They are quite likely to be able to be applied to normal writing, so help yourself to the extra points. Remember, in order to receive points for completing the weekly challenge, you MUST declare it by Monday at midnight. As always... The Rules wrote: 1. All challenges must be declared completed by midnight Saturday in your timezone (please specify your timezone when you sign up). 2. All challenges (personal or weekly) must be declared by midnight Monday in your timezone. 3. Personal challenges cannot be repeated. 4. The organizer reserves the right to veto any challenges that seem too simple. (i.e. writing a sentence) If this is your first time on one of these quests, you'll need to see the initiation pamphlet. Also, I would like to remind everyone that any weekly challenge pieces that are posted on the forum will be eligible to be featured in our newsletter. Please post a link in this thread if you would like it to be considered. If you could write your sign-up post in a similar format to the following, it would be appreciated: Goal: weekly challenge (or whatever you decide to do) Timezone: PDT WRITE! *sets off Roman candles* |

* deep breath * My goal this weekend is to finish Book 5. That's 5K this week, bringing me to a total of 20K for Nano. Technically that's how much I did yesterday so... I should worry too much, right? Does one get bonus points for Nano goals? Does it count if the entire plot of book 5 involves my character being captured? (And book six is about being freed.) Er, here is the actual formatted version: Personal Goal: Finish Book 5 Timezone: CST |

If what you plan to write includes the capture itself, you can declare the NaNo goal. |

Er, actually, yes it does! Because he gets captured in the beginning, but that's actually the last chapter.... soo... <grin> I hereby declare the Nano goal as well, then. |
