Welcome to week six! :D Sorry for the lateness again. Yesterday was an important day for me, and I wasn't home for more than a couple hours on either end.

Your quest is to write a 500 word short story on the theme of sacrifice.

BONUS weekly challenge: Participate in the Sci-Fi Drabble Contest!

As always...

The Rules wrote:
1. All challenges must be declared completed by midnight Saturday in your timezone (please specify your timezone when you sign up).
2. Personal challenges must be declared by midnight Monday in your timezone.
3. Personal challenges cannot be repeated.
4. The organizer reserves the right to veto any challenges that seem too simple. (i.e. writing a sentence)

Also, I would like to remind everyone that any weekly challenge pieces that are posted on the forum will be eligible to be featured in our newsletter once it gets off its feet. Please post a link in this thread if you would like it to be considered.

If you could write your sign-up post in a similar format to the following, it would be appreciated:
Goal: weekly challenge (or whatever you decide to do)

Start work on Human phonetic system...I don't know how to measure progress on that sort of project...but I'm gonna say at least get a bunch of sounds figured out that are allowed in it.

Personal Goal: Finish writing out phonetics

*scurries in, muttering to self* Well, I am in a state of disrepair over this, amn't I? Keep forgetting to properly update y'all. :P My deepest apologies.

I did not work on Peter's Angel at all last week. It was too busy with the garage sale, and what writing time I had I was too drained to do the heavy writing required for Peter's Angel. However, I am back with it this week. :D A break was probably good, since I'd been working on it solid for a few months...

I did write last week, though. I did about 77 pages of script. Does that account for anything? *grins*

I'm not setting a goal for Peter's Angel this week. Instead, I have a short script that needs rewriting, so...

Personal goal: Revise the Debugger short script
Timezone: CST

Good job Rose! And good job Aubrey for getting writing done even though it wasn't the same writing as your goal. :D

I've gotten some sounds for each letter (that I'm going to be using very much, some I've left out entirely at least for the time being), but tomorrow I'll have to add a few more and then start figuring out what some of the sounds will be used for.

*is hoping to get inspired for the shortstory part of the weekly goal*

Plus, I have HF and F as two of my tabs that open every time I open FireFox, so they kind of stay stuck on my brain. Sci-fi, I will not do that with :D.

Finished my short story! The drabble and short story are incorporated, in a way. The short story is the longer version of the drabble.

The short story has 599 words. I got a bit carried away. :P

Now... *goes to write on her novel* I posted the drabble on the submissions thread on SF, and I'll post the short story here, even though it's SF. :D

Well, I just finished the 500 word story...maybe. I have 501 words, but the story "ends" right when you can tell the MC is going to be sacrificing basically himself for his wife...do I have to write the sacrifice actually happening or is it enough to imply that it was going to happen?

*has finally edited everything in*

Azlyn: Yup! It's my way of helping them get entries. ;)

Lycanis: Implying is fine. Depending on the story, I think it can actually make it stronger.

Katie: *looks* *rubs eyes* *looks again* Did I imagine it, or did you have another post that you deleted? I thought you said you did a whole bunch of drabbles, but maybe I mixed up three blog posts with drabbles...

*also rubs eyes*

I did. I had a fourth post in a row that said I entered four drabbles in the contest, and now I'd finished the challenge for the week and could relax. I sure didn't delete it, but apparently someone did.

*suspicious*

Good, then I've accomplished that goal, done the drabble, and achieved my personal goal as well. :D I just might decide to do another drabble, but might not since I'm on vacation right now. :P

Finished and submitted a total of three drabbles. I personally like the last one I did the best :D.

I still have three scenes to finish for my personal goal, but I will hopefully be able to get that done today.
