Your quest this week is to write a worldbuilding article A worldbuilding article may be defined as a written piece about a certain aspect of your world that you would post on the forum or your blog. on your world's culture that is at least 500 words in length.

The Rules wrote:
1. All challenges must be declared completed by midnight Saturday in your timezone (please specify your timezone when you sign up).
2. Personal challenges must be declared by midnight Monday in your timezone.
3. Personal challenges cannot be repeated.
4. The organizer reserves the right to veto any challenges that seem too simple. (i.e. writing a sentence)

Also, I would like to remind everyone that any weekly challenge pieces that are posted on the forum will be eligible to be featured in our newsletter once it gets off its feet. Please post a link in this thread if you would like it to be considered.

If you could write your sign-up post in a similar format to the following, it would be appreciated:
Goal: weekly challenge (or whatever you decide to do)
Timezone: PDT

On your mark! Get set! Go!!! *fires pistol*

I'm in! :D

Can I do both the Weekly Challenge and a personal goal if they are both world building, but different aspects? (As in, trying to get 200 words on History of Amerouk and doing a thing on culture for the weekly challenge? If so, does the second one have to be complete or is it okay to stop at 500 words?) If not, I can just do one or the other.

Yes, you may. :) It would be better if you could finish the Weekly Challenge article, but I don't think I'll quibble on that point. :D

And thank you for reminding me. I had meant to specify that it was to be a culture article. :)

Okay, thanks you!

Cool! I just randomly chose culture as an example because that is what I will probably be working on, but I guess I'm stuck with it now! :D

Okay, then here is my sign up sheet:

Personal Goal: 200 words on History of Amerouk
Weekly Goal: 500 words or finished on Musical Instruments in Amerouk
Timezone: CST

(Goodness gracious, I told myself I would make a smaller goal for this week since I failed last week, but look what happened! )

I'd love to join in the weekly challange... but I think it would be best if I did a personal goal this time instead.

Is editing/rewriting the time-space theory a big enough goal?

*Comes in grinning* 200 words on History of Amerouk, done! :dieshappy: *Goes to work on Musical Instruments, which is turning out harder then she thought*

EDIT: And I'm just over half-done the music/musical instuments! :D

Cool!...My world has like 5+ races in it...so I can just explore one aspect of my world's culture, right? Like, say, the WereWolf culture? And when do I get to start working on my goals for this quest?

I think that is what she means. There is no way I could do all of the culture for Amerouk in a week. You can start right away, me thinks.

Minor time zone change in my sign up... I'm actually MDT during the summer. :P Time zones are so confusing.

*Comes in with an even huger grin* I got the 500 words on music/musical instruments! :dieshappy: (I told myself I wouldn't fail this round, and then I got it done the on second day!) I did an introduction to music in Amerouk (152 words) and then wrote up a bunch of stuff on the Stringed Drum (348 words). I think I'll spend the rest of the week finishing up the Stringed Drum, and then polish and do the other research I have to do to finish it up. That way I'll maybe be able to submit it for the newsletter thinger.

Wow, Azlyn! You know, if you can fit another 500 in the article, you get extra points for doing the weekly challenge twice. ;)

I'm here! :D I have a ton of world-building to write that I haven't had time for, so I'm going to do the weekly challenge as well as a personal challenge. So...

Goal: Weekly challenge, AND a personal challenge of polishing at least 5 scenes on Peter's Angel, OR finish Edwin's entire post-war sequence, whichever comes first.*
Timezone: CST

*Ideally I'd like to finish Edwin's entire post-war sequence, but I'm not sure how many scenes that is. So in case that gets to be too much, I will at least get 5 scenes down total.

Raven, I wasn't on the computer at all yesterday, but I want to do a personal goal. Is that okay? :beg:

Goal: Weekly goal (500 words of culture worldbuilding)
and
Personal goal - 200 words on my unnamed novel
Time Zone: EDT

All right, you two. But next week get those goals in by midnight Monday, okay? The thread goes up Sunday afternoon, so you have a day and a half to set your goals.

Okay, but the exception is made for this week only. ;)

Would it make things easier for everyone if I tried to get the thread up on Saturday?

Probably, because I don't think I get on as often on Sundays, especially now that farm season is starting.

I edited you in, Fyrstar.

Okay, I'll see what I can do. I'm super busy this Saturday, but I'll try. And if not, definitely the next week.

My WereWolf culture article turned out to be over 1000 words on it's own! Going to probably read through it a little before I post it though, and same for my story.

Quick question...do the completed goals have to be posted on the forum or is it enough to simply say we have completed them? I'm writing a whole chapter and I'm not sure if it's ready for display yet.

You just have to say that it's completed. :) Showing your work is entirely optional.

Thanks, yay! Yes, my shortstory is done too, except for revision, but it has come to over a thousand words, and usually when I go through a thousand word story it gains 300 wds.

A quick double-check question, how many times can you do the weekly challenge? I might write up a little something about another race in Vadra, if it counts. :D
