Greetings, It was suggested to me that we have varying kinds of challenges for writing to help encourage each other in a structured and accountable way. I have done this sort of thing with a couple other sites (one of my own making), and I like the idea. Do any of you have any ideas for challenges that we could do? With joy and peace in Christ, Jay Lauser |

Great Idea - word count - use of magic - make a map - plot out a story - write character sketches - start a new fantasy Those were just a few thoughts. |

This is a great idea! There IS one challenge that is going on this November. (not really a win/lose type thing though.) It's called Nanowrimo, and the goal is to write 50,000 words of your novel in one month. |

I've heard of that. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to reach that challenge, but I can always try! A more reasonable task might be to cut that in half. But NaNoWriMo is a challenge that could be incorporated into HW. |

Actually, there's a website where you can get an account and it is SOOOOOOO helpful. I also found another website where it actually makes it possible to write a couple hundred words in ten minutes! If you'd like me to post the links on Writing Tips room. |

I got a whole new scene I needed for my novel from WoD. I'm not sure exactly what kind of challenges you're looking for, so if these are way off, just ignore me. - Write a Bible mirror story in a fantasy world. - Design/describe your own original animal/creature. And that's the extent of my imaginative capacity for this thread. |

How 'bout the Hemingway challenge? He was once challenged to write an entire story in six words. His response? For sale: Baby shoes, never used. |

What about Haikus? They're lots of fun, and you can be very creative with them. |
