City Names I need 81 city names; 12 A-ruan (Elvish), 12 Coredian (Dwarvish), 12 Drasilian (Human), and 45 evil city names. The terrain in A-rua is all forest. The terrain in Coreda is all mountains, mines, and caverns. The terrain in Drasil is plains, forest, a little desert, and hills and plateaus. The evil empire cities are in volcano ranges, ravaged plains, deep canyons surrounded by deserts, and jungle. I would appreciate the help. |

Whoa!!! That's quite an order! Could you give some rough guidlines for what you want each language to soundlike? Elvish, Dwarvish, & human give me some vague ideas of the sounds you want, but a little elaboration would be helpful. Look forward to helping you with this. This could be fun. In Christ, Jordan |

Human, normal. Elvish, a Smooth flowing quality. Dwarvish, rough and strong quality. Evil, I just want them to sound evil. |

Okay, first of all, I'm not going to just give you a bunch of names. I'm going to launch into the realm of generators...for which I have numerous links, bookmarks, and such...but I'll just give you my favorites. Chaotic Shiny This is particularly useful for when you have a general idea of what you'd like the name to sound like but don't have the actual name. It features (in the Names category) Fantasy-Style Names, Name Jumbler, Name Mixer, and Place Names. The Place Name generator isn't exactly what you're looking for (if you want things in a different "language") since it comes up with things like "Kynd Lagoon" and "Tigerbow Valley". Name Jumbler and Name Mixer are essentially the same thing. You might come up with several doubles and some total nonsense, but if you can comb through it and pick out the ones you really like there are some real gems. Fantasy-Style names is just your average generator. Just try fitting any of the names this generator site comes up with into your "language" categories. (normal, flowing, evil, etc.) Seventh Sanctum This place is a bit sillier and more for RPGs, but if you manipulate it some you can get good stuff. Tons of name gens are featured on in the Names category, so I won't try to explain them all. Yafnag The name of this site is an acronym for Yet Another Fantasy NAme Generator. (You gotta love a sense of humor. Serendipity This one's more for clothes, culture, and the like, but it has some neat name gens. Squid This one might be especially helpful, since it offers templates of various languages and also of several fantasy languages, including Tolkien. Don't try to navigate the drop-down menu, just click one of the links on the top right (with all the different languages and such.) Fantasy Name Generator This place is kind of complicated if you try to use their Advanced Interface (I've never been able to figure it out -- but then I'm not much of e technical genius. Hope these will be helpful! The more you play around with these, the more you will learn to make it give you what you want. They're relatively easy to manipulate. Just get familiar with them. Also, most of them feature different gens other than those for names, which I also find useful. Have fun! |

I'll use them all. Don't stop! I have never have been good at name making and name generators are fun and all, but I like names that people make up themselves better. I still need some Drasilian names and evil names. Thanks!!!! |

Drasilian will be a little trickier because there isn't an immediate language I can connect it to. The Elvish names were made using Quenya-like sounds, the Dwarvish names were adapted/mutated forms of Nordic words, but Drasilian doesn't give me a lot to go on. Usually, for human races I would use Anglo-sounding names, but "drasilian" doesn't exactly carry an Anglo feeling to it. Will get back to you soon with what I can concoct. |

If he is (and he probably is), you can either share it, or switch the "s" with a "z", which is just a vocalized [s]; the sound would be practically the same. |

I will use all of them, but anyone can use the same city names. There is a slim chance that our novels will be mixed up. |
