Apparently there is a NaNo scheduled for both July and August...

Has anyone done this? Anyone planning on doing this? I'm sorely tempted to join up and do either Faded or Alaidia. I really need the push.

Never heard of this... but I'd be willing to give it a go ^.^ (I have story or two I could *cough* should work on)

.... though I'd be busy in August so it'd have to be July

I'm busy in July but probably busier in August!

I shouldn't be interested in this... but I am... :?

Do it, Vili! :D We can word war or something. ^^

You should be interested, Katie. You should be very, very interested. Yup. ;)

No. No, I shouldn't be interested. I shouldn't.

I might actually sign up on the site this time... usually I don't. :D It depends on what my goal is, though. Since both of my fantasy novels have half-drafts, I might make part of my goal editing the prewritten scenes into the final novel. In which case, those words wouldn't count for NaNo...

Post subject:  Re: Camp NaNo

I really should do this, but unfortunately I'm pretty busy. I've heard some rumors about the Camp NaNoWriMo for the Young Writer's Program next year or the year after, also.

I have several novel ideas floating around, but I have yet to actually organize all of these ideas and put them down on a list.

Post subject:  Re: Camp NaNo

I've mulled over my schedule a bit, and August would probably be the best month for me to do this. As much as I want to do it next month, I'm probably doing the Book in a Week challenge, as well as finishing up the paid job. So I think I'll spend July focusing on getting Red Rain ready for publication (except formatting) so that I can draft something else in August. :D

Post subject:  Re: Camp NaNo

I just checked out the site today. I really shouldn't be interested either (soooooo busy) but I am. I'm thinking plotting this month and writing it in August. The Camp NaNo site looks great. I filled out my profile today. Now if only I can get my world-building together... that's what's holding this particular idea back.

Post subject:  Re: Camp NaNo

That's what I've decided to do, Ardyth. I'm hoping to get a lot of my plot-planning and world-building for Faded finished this month, and then I can draft in August! What story will you be doing?

Author:  Ardyth [ July 3rd, 2011, 12:03 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Camp NaNo

It's called "The Soul Thief". It's about a ferret familiar of an evil wizard who starts to think for himself and realizes what his master is doing is wrong. When he's approached to help the forces of good defeat his master, he decides it's his chance for freedom and to get what he wants most, a soul (animals don't have them). But pretty quickly he starts running into moral issues that make him have to figure out what he's alright with doing and what he isn't. ;)

I need to work out the magic system and rules of the world before I can iron out the plot, even if I have the character arcs planned out.

I think I read something on one of the forums... is Faded the one where everything fades with age until it's white? And the character from our world is trying to figure out stuff about life and death? Or am I thinking of someone else's book?

Post subject:  Re: Camp NaNo

Okay, I've decided to actually do this. I started July 1, but randomly switched novels mid-day on July 2. I'm up to 7,000+ words on July 3. I want to get to 8,500+ by tomorrow. :D

Post subject:  Re: Camp NaNo

Wow! That's a really unique storyline! I'm looking forward to hearing more. :D

That is correct! :D

Wow, Elly!

You can do it, Elly! *waves flaming pompoms*

Also, I love the idea of Faded. I'm glad I kept it straight which one it is. I'm excited to get all my world building done and write the novel!

Thank you, Ardyth!

What story would you do, Michael?

Author:  Svensteel Mimetes [ July 6th, 2011, 5:26 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Camp NaNo

I will probably do the second of one of my three part series, of Michael Black. It's kind of complicated. To put it simply there are three books in three different time eras. All consisting of the same MC... Michael.

I think I shall do this! It seems cool! 80% chance I will fail horrendously but... I don't care! :dieshappy:

I don't consider it possible to fail when every word you write is a word written. :D If you don't make the goal you've still written more than you would have otherwise.

I hope you join us!

Post subject:  Re: Camp NaNo

Catching up! Dragging off. Dance has started. In June it was 12 and a half hours of dance classes a week. They start at about 5:30 (which is when I like to write).
Which when we return it is like 10. At that point by the time we go to bed it is 11. Then there is bible reading and going to sleep itself; 1 o'clock when I fall asleep. Then I normally wake up at 11!
After I wake up and eat breakfast... it is about 12. Between stretching, summer reading, holy worlds, my garden, eating, taking care of my brothers and sisters, chores, practicing piano, drums, and other instruments... it takes normally about five hours. And that is on days of normality. Such as yesterday my little sister turned five! Yay... but the party lasted at least four hours. Writing that day; 0.
And then there is youth group activities and occasionally dance starts at 4!

To sum it all up; obviously July isn't good for me! :(
Maybe in November I'll try Nano? But not now! :'(

 Elly, you're doing amazingly! Keep it up!

My world-building has been going well, though with my feature script job I haven't had a lot of time to work on it. But whenever I touch it, it goes well. :D

I totally understand, Ramon. Perhaps you could fit writing in one way or the other. Are you typing it or writing it? You can always take notes when you get an idea. :)

Go Ardyth! Evening Aspen is planning on doing it. :D

I won't be able to join you, sadly. :'( The feature script job is still going, and I have a ton to do to get my first book ready for publication 9/6. I think I might try for my own gig in September, though.

Yep! I'm doing it. Right now I'm setting up my preferences on the site. Writing will commence this afternoon. :D
