Before I post my goals for this week, I'm going to dream of the many impractical goals I'd like to accomplish this month. It would be great to get started rewriting my book this month. I hope and pray that I can, but I really want to outline with each scene laid out with purpose, conflict and twist. My last book I did that as I went and it was real spacey. If I do it beforehand, maybe that will work, but my problem is I don't like to write outlines beforehand. I've got a first draft already, but things are changing and less and less is going to stay. It's more like a new book, but in familiar territory.

Ok. That's my goal. I want to start writing my book this month.

Now, for the week to week to get to that point.
Week 1 - Prep characters and setting
Week 2 - 4: Outline and start writing.

Man, I'm scared. I also need to read books, edit/finish short stories, record two podcasts, blog, critique group...ok, I just prayed, and God says I'm going to get done what He wants me to get done. Whew. :)

I will just have to fit the rest in after I accomplish my priority, which is prepping this book. If I want to be successful in my Novel Goal of Aug 11 ready to submit to publisher, then the rest will have to come second.

So, now that you've witnessed my near crisis, redeemed by the love and sovereignty of God, what are your goals for this month?

I'd like to start Ark's story (I need a title for it, especially since Ark isn't going to be the viewpoint character. :P ). That will probably require some planning ahead of time, since I actually have ending ideas and no beginning. (This is incredibly rare for me.) Also some character development would be good. And I need to figure out the different types of Fae... *goes off to make a thread for help with that*

Two wings are pink. The other two are green and black, respectively. You have a row of sharp spines going down your back (very sharp). You also hiccup rainbow bubbles... ~Vili
So, now you all know what I look like.

Tim, your post was a blessing to read. :) God is gracious, and He will work in your life through this story to meet His own blessed plans!

My goal for this month is similarly daunting. I've pledged to finish the rough draft of my fantasy "masterpiece" Alaidia (Peter's Angel) by mid-June. That means I need to get at least 3/4s of the way there this month, more or less.

As a side goal, I'd like to revise my sci-fi novella. However, I'm debating about whether to make some little tweaks or if the story is calling for a full rewrite, so I don't want to set a firm goal on that yet.

I also need to read and comment on several friends' works this month, one of which is a full-length novel I need to line-edit. Quite the time commitment!
