I am writing a Narnian story and need help with some names.
I would like suggestions for a Archenland noble, a wolf man, and a minotaur.
Any ideas?

Nirren sounds slightly Archenlandish.

Rulfak has a wolfy ring to it.

I'm not sure about the minotaur but something like Kildar might work. Are you going to post your story when it's done?

I'll keep the names in mind but I would like to hear some more suggestions before I decide.

I'll post the beginning in the Fireside once I finish it (Not anytime soon cause of school, but maybe in the summer) and then if someone wants to read more they can PM me.

I second Nirren! :D That name sounds really neat. Although you could also try:
Narren or Flerren...

As to a wolf name, perhaps Kuldrak, Garfun, Kagdor, Efgrad. I'm trying to think of wolf names from the actual narnia stories and failing...but those names sound wolf-ish to me :)

Let's see...is the Minotaur good or evil?

Those are cool names Andrew!

I think they're good, but I'm sure you can make them bad as well.

Nirren it is!

I also like the sound of Kuldrak. Actually there are two wolf names in the Narnia stories: Fenris Ulf and Maugrim, both names are for the captain of the White Witch's wolves. In the British edition he used one name and the American edition he used the other. However there is no precedent in the books for a werewolf. :(

The Minotaur is evil. The story does tie into the books but not into the movies. Though in the movies a Minotaur could be good, in the books none of the evil creatures are ever good. When you are reading the story you should try to (for the most part) act as if the movies didn't exist.

*tries to think of the minotaur captain's name in LWW*

*runs to look it up in movie credits*

Otmin! I knew it =P That doesn't sound very minotaur-ish, but it is the only named minotaur in any Narnia-related thingy, isn't it?

Hmmm, names that sound like it:

Omtar, Otmar, Otrin, Rotra, Mitron, Imrot, Srinmo, Reimt

(By the way, I love how the movies all have cameos of Douglas Gresham! *geeks out over some of his favorite movies* :P)

There are some creatures that are seen on both sides, satyrs for example. Not all creatures were strictly good or evil.

*rerails thread*

Yes, I'm not too good at naming minotaurs...

Douglas Gresham? Who is he? (the name sounds familiar though)

 Oh. It has been too long since I have read the books. :P

All right people keep the names coming-- the more the better!

Douglas Gresham is C.S. Lewis' step son.

I ran across some more name problems. This is not from the Narnia fan fiction but from the originally mine. :) I'm calling the story Murel for the moment because the world is called Murel.

So here's my problem:
I was looking up some Portuguese words in a Portuguese-English word dictionary to modify to make up a name for some vampire-like creatures. I decided blood-demon would sum up the creatures nicely (especially because the creatures are possessed by demons). I found the word for demon and modified it to démio; no problem. I then looked for the Portuguese word for blood. The word for "blond" was right above the word for "blood" and I accidently modified the Portuguese word for "blond" making loi. The name for the vampires became loi-démio before I found out my mistake. :P But now the name has grown on me. Should I keep the name (even though it has lost its special significance) or should I modify it to incorporate the Portuguese word for "blood" ("sangue")?

P.S. Idea modifications of the Portuguese word for blood would be very much appreciated.

How about sandémio? Or, if you wanted blood to be more prominent, you could go with sangrémio. :)

(Problem solved.) ;)
