NaNoWriMo begins November 1. And how many characters have I named? One. :P
Syleh is the main character, so at least that's taken care of, but I still need a few more names. Mainly for the antagonist, but also for this old guy that the head of the organization her father worked for, and that guy's son. And probably random little name here and there.

Any ideas? I'm really bad at naming anything.

I love making up names! These are mostly off the top of my head. Feel free to tweak and/or use any of them!

Andier
Lystilk
Grimun
Kernai
Alecks
Dormanin
Kander
Linyr
Larygh
Pleem
Jarner
Gilludaen
Arink
Sourehank
Andumax
Frilder
Krainer
Georme

That's all I can come up with right now. Do you have anything specific you're looking for?

Oh, I love naming people. Or, at least, I love naming people with names I randomly come up with. I'm thinking that for this story, you're doing the same? Syleh sounds like a made up (awesome) name.

Generally I start with just coming up with a letter. Then I'll add the next syllable. Sometimes it comes all at once with no tweaking needed, other times I need to alter it and work at it for a while.

Example:

The letter E. What would come next? A constant or a vowel? I'll pick the vowel, for now. ;)

Eventually I'll come up with a name like Eilod or something. (Pronounced Ee-lod.) I don't generally take any sort of Latin or Greek word to come up with names. (I applaud those who take the time to do so.) I just randomly come up with some.

By the way, feel free to use the name Eilod if you want to. Unless you think it's a terrible name, then just ignore it. ;) Also feel free to use the following:

Farahk

Uniroi

Traekara

Haidara

Yes, I try to make up names for my characters. And thanks, I'm glad you like her name :)

Ah, good idea.

And I like Haidara... I may have to use that one :)

Brogan—derived from Gaelic ‘shoe’
Conleth—“virtuous fire” Irish
Enki—“lord of the earth”
Fabian—Latin for bean…’nuff said…
Karim--*sigh* this means noble or generous in Arabic
Logan—“little hollow”
Nolan—Irish, “descendant of Nuallane”
Owen—“born from a yew tree” (Gaelic)
Quinn—“descendant of Cuinn” (weird!)
Roshan—Persian for “light” “Bright”
Wolf—I would hope this was obvious…

LOL! I would not want to name my child bean, or shoe.:P

Nessa- She's given up the veil, the vows she'd sworn, abandoned every effort to conform. Without a word to anyone she's gone her way alone, a dove escaping back into the storm.

Nolan- And though I don't understand why this happened, I know that I will when I look back someday, and see how you've brought beauty from ashes, and made me as gold purified through the flames.

Azriel- And who do you think you are, running round leaving scars, collecting your jar of hearts, and tearing love apart? You're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul, so don't come back to me. Don't come back at all...
