Greetings,

This is my first time with NaNoWriMo, and I was wondering how many of you know about it or are doing it. If you want more information, check out the website here.

With joy and peace in Christ,

I'm so excited to be a Wrimo this year! I agree with Sapphira, I'm just itching to write so much! (You can be a geek here, Sapphira, we all are. :)) My user name is Reuel_Dreamseer, I'll try to find you guys! What is yours, Mindy?

Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

I think the site's a bit slow at first with so many people. They get it cleared up later in the month, I heard. This is my first year, so I don't know a ton about it.

I'm trying to add you. I will whenever the site works fast enough.

Hey! It's my first NaNoWriMo too! (Which is why I'm late finding out about this topic). It's only day two and I don't know if I'll make it (not editing my work is killing me!) My user name is Ebony (and the avatar is the blue 'e' from Eragon, if that helps with identification :) ) I'll add you guys to my Writing Buddies list (IF my computer works, that is).

Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

I'm editing my work. *Grins* It doesn't slow me down, cause I don't agonize it, but if I remember I want to put something in, then I go back and rewrite it, because I usually end up with more words anyhow.:D

And I added you, Elestar! (but you already knew that, I think.;))

:D Yippee, more nanoers! (thanks for coining that term Mindy, I'm not sure what else we would call ourselves otherwise...) My username is robynwaltz, feel free to add me! This is my first time doing NaNoWriMo, and it's a little stressful, but I'm really enjoying it. I'll probably do it again in the years to come, otherwise Novembers might seem a little boring after this. :) Although I'm sure I'll be busy for a while after just editing and re-writing...

I'm behind as of right now, too. I can't come up with a title for my seventh chapter!

Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

Yeah, I know how you feel. I only got 669 words written yesterday (terrible, I know), but I just couldn't write, so I had to make up for it today.

Mindy, you have chapter sections? Wow. I'm doing good just to get in my day's quota. :)

Author:  Arias Mimetes [ November 6th, 2009, 11:28 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

Whoo-hoo! I'm caught up again. I have 10,039 words so far, and halfway done with page 19 (which means I'm finishing up chapter three). I don't name my chapters, only number them, so that doesn't slow me down. I'm really bad at naming things.
I'm excited because I worked on The Journey for three months before taking a break, and don't have as much of it done. As many pages, that is... I think I wrote over 14,000 words.

After NaNo, do you guys think if I posted my story on here, you could kind of help me edit it in December? If I get it edited in time, I'll see if my mom will let me use the CreateSpace offer that NaNo has (something about getting one free proof copy of the book printed, which would be cool).
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/offers

And besides, it'd be nice to have one completely finished story :)
I'll definitely have to make sure I save what I have so far on my zip drive tomorrow. I'd hate for the computer to crash and me lose what I have written.

I speak only for myself, but I'd love to give you any help that I can (although it may not be until January that I'd be of much use; the holiday season is not good for me).

Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

Cool.
And I'm sure I won't get it completely edited in December, because I'll have to go over it and edit it a couple times, I'm sure, and our family gets rather busy in December anyway. But I guess we'll see how it goes anyway :)

I am doing ... okay I think. I averaged about 2000 words last week, and I am trying to do 2500 each weekday this week. I have a page written so far today. One out of four. Going strong though. :)

By the way. I am figuring out a good way for us to help edit each other's work without having the drafts word-viewable. It is coming along really well, and I hope y'all will like it. I think our NaNoWriMo stories will be able to test the system well. :)

Greetings,

This is just to update y'all on my progress. I just finished my last page today, and my word count total is: 25,203. I am 203 words ahead! I am trying to figure out how to build up the suspense a lot more before I wipe out most of my characters after about 5000 words more or so. Hope it goes well! How are all y'all doing?

*sigh* phew, I'm definitely going to be doing a lot of editing :)

Good job, Sapphira!!! :D I love to hear these success stories!
I've got a bit more than 25,000 - so I'll probably only make about 30,000 this year. But that is still TONS more than I have ever written before on one book, so it makes me very happy! :D And I can't wait to try again next year!
How will the rest of you do things differently if/when you do NaNo again?

Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

Hmmm...Well next year I will write more than my quota every day because obviously there will be days that I can't write. That was my downfall this year. I didn't plan for times when I couldn't write.

Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

Yep, I know what you mean. I visited my grandmother for a week (she doesn't use computers AT ALL so I felt weird bringing my laptop out) so that threw me off of my concentration. Before then I was living and breathing Nano - when I wasn't writing I was thinking about it.

Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

I am behind... :( We got really really busy last week with a Missions Conference at our church and I was running out of writing time. But I am slowly catching up, and I am certain that I will finish in good time.

I scheduled it for 2500 words on every weekday for the first four weeks: 20 days. That means that any amount I write on the weekends or on the last Monday are extra. That really helped.

Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

Yikes, can you believe it's over now! In some ways that felt like the longest month ever... I loved (almost) every moment, though. I didn't reach 50,000 :( - I only got to about 29,000 before the book screeched to a halt. Next time I will have to come up with a longer, more complex plot so I don't come to "The End" so fast!
How did the rest of you do??

Author:  Whythawye [ December 3rd, 2009, 7:17 am ]
Post subject:  Re: NaNoWriMo

I got to 50,074 words exactly (well, as exactly as I can count by hand)! I still have about 10,000 or so words left in my story, though, so I am going to keep on going as I find time to do so. NaNoWriMo was definitely a fun idea. I plan to do it next year if possible and rewrite the same story again.

do you always write by hand??? That sounds really difficult! (especially the counting to 50,000 part!)

Mindy E. wrote:

Well, we only have one computer, and it is shared by us four oldest. I only get a few hours a day on it (I always try to get more, though, because my job is on the computer). So with all the writing involved with NaNoWriMo, I used pen and notepad. The only thing is that with my handwriting, if I write fast it becomes illegible, so I do not expect to be able to read all of it. :) I figured out how to do the word count easily, though. I count the words in each line and write that number in the margin, then I add all those numbers and write it at the bottom of each page, then I add all those up to find my current tally. That way I do not get lost or lose count. Make sense?
