So does mine. Except when it doesn't. :)

LOLOLOL!
I can identify. My poor mom (who used to try to read my writing in all kinds of light because she couldn't wait to find out what happened) made me switch to cursive when I got a new notebook. Took me about 10 pages to get the hang of it! Now, (though I hate to admit it--she said I would) I use cursive for everything because it's so much more efficient. Do you use print or cursive?

I've thought about doing NaNoWriMo, but it always seems too rushed to me. I use almost every spare moment to write and it's taken me from October to now to get *roughly* 22,000 words. I wondered if you had to do all the revision in Nov. too, or if NaNoWriMo was immediately followed by NaNoEdMo. lol

I print. I can do cursive, and have been required to do it in the past, but my writing became so illegible when I wrote it fast that it was no longer capable of being differentiated from the doodles of an inebriated eel. :) I prefer print anyways.

2500 words each weekday was a good amount for me, so it was not too hard. I didn't lose any sleep over it.

Actually, it is followed by a series of revision helps and challenges. :)

I think, if I participate next year, I may consider writing by hand because it provides more freedom of location.

My problem is that I write in a cursive print hybrid that only I can read. I have a writing spelling problem (I can't remember the name of the problem though...) that causes me to write words back words every now and then, adding to my confusion. :?

So, I'll probably have to stick to the good old laptop.

Would anybody be open to redoing NaNo with a small group around June? I can't do it during November because I have a bunch of speech writing to do then.

I believe they are trying to get it set up so that you can do it any month of the year that you want.

I would do it if you wanted to do something like NaNo around June! November is really busy for me, so sometime in the summer would be much better. (Not that the summer is much less busy than the school year. lol)

I hadn't heard of that...but it looks rather primitive compared to NaNoWriMo. I do like the idea of maybe having a Holy Worlds writing event, and I have ideas, but I've got to run it by Sir Emeth first.

I just discovered that that particular website is for January.

Just curious, is anyone planning on doing NaNo '10? Why or why not? What did you learn from last year's NaNo that would change how you do it this year? What sort of ideas are you tossing around? It's only four months away, you know! :D

What exactly is NaNoWriMo? :?

@Reuel: I'm planning on it. I don't really have a plot yet, though. I had an idea, but at the moment it's escaping me :P
I'm still trying to decide if I want to do a fantasy story this year or try something else. I want to try something else to see how it turns out, but fantasy is pretty much the only thing I know how to write.
I will try to get a better idea of what I'm doing beforehand, though.

@Lady Terra: It's a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days (the month of November).

It is epiclly awesome. The goal for the adult one is 50k, but in the Young Writer's Program (which I do since I'm not allowed to have an account on the adult site) you can set your own goal.

I'm going to give it a whirl this year, I think. It's my first year, so I don't know if I'll be able to make 50,000...I haven't even got a plot idea yet. :) I thought of not doing fantasy but it's such a great genre... :D

Last year, I did 15 thousand as my goal. I made it to 17 thousand. I started with no plot, and no character on October 31.

October 1 they're wiping the site and we'll have a nice, clean forum to dance over and get muddy footprints on. Did you do it last year? Are you doing it this year? Are you aware of the small group of brave contestants known as the Knights of Nanowrimo? What's you're username on there? Shall we all be writing buddies? What are you going to write? Do you know what you're going to write? Do you want to help me decide what I'm going to write more than two days in advance like I did last year?

There's just over thirty days to get ourselves together! Last year was my first year and I loved it! I am soooo looking forward to this. Nanowrimo makes me a little crazy, so I'm going to yell the battle cry of the knights of nanowrimo. CHAAAAAAAAARGE!!!!

I did it last year on the young writers site since it was my first year, but I plan on doing it this year on the adult site. I might as well go for the full 50k when I was only 4k short last year. ^.^ (Never thought I'd get that high) Not sure what I'll write this year though, it will either be a sequel to last year's novel (Sanctuary's Gate), or a prequel to Redemption's Love, not sure. >.< I never knew there were Knights involved it though... :/ You learn something new everyday! *Hopes to avoid a sword fight with them ^_^;* Name's the same everywhere, so I'm called Blueeyedswordmaiden over there. :D *Pokes* You never said what your called over there though, Janin.

*Shivers* A month. Wow. Seems like I just finished last year's novel. >.< (Which will not mention needs editing still. (<.<||>.>) )

I'd like to do it, but I'm just now reaching 50,000 words per month while writing a lot of different things. I don't think I could do that in one book and have it turn out good. And then I'm just so busy with everything I'm already writing.

Don't know if I'm doing it yet. I'm going nuts with everything else that needs done... gardening and then I have a film shoot in about 3 weeks... so we'll see how things go. :)

I do have a story I could write for it, though. A manga that I'll probably write in novel format before switching it over to manga (screenplay) format. :)

I haven't done it before, IIRC... at least, not on the website... I'm a ScriptFrenzy person, though. :)

If I sign up for a NaNo account, though, it'll be the same as all my other ones - Melody Kondrael. :D

you can sign in with your script frenzy account, Melody. The sites are linked. If you sign up for one you're signed up on both. :D

This sounds really cool, but I just don't think I can fit it in with everything else going on in my life. It's a really big commitment. But good luck to all others. :)

What I meant was that I have developed the story enough for me (a very fractal/organization/planning person) to be able to carry it through with enough speed to finish it within the month. :)

I plan on doing NaNoWriMo this year! ^^

My username is ImagineThat. I'm working on making sure everyone's on my buddy list.

Last year was my first year, and I finished with a few days to spare.

There is actually a thread about this located HERE.

I noticed there were two separate threads on this subject. Sir Emeth started the other one. Is there any way to combine the two?

So excited! x3
I think I've got my plot developed enough to write, although it'll probably end up like last year the end product will be completely different. But I will finish this one! :D I never got around to editing much of last year's story.

Now if only I could come up with a better title... :P

Wow, now it looks weird . Our comments are all broken up depending on when someone else posted over here. Oh well, I think it is better to have all the information in one place. Good work Arias!

I noticed this thread seemed significantly longer... :D I would love to do this, but I can't commit to it with all I have going on... :P

I didn't get a ScriptFrenzy account, Janin, I just did it on my own.

You probably won't find me for the buddy list. I'm not on the adult site.

Today is the day of the Great White Wipe.

I would say you could add my brother, but I don't think he's actually going to do NaNo. And I don't remember his username anyway... :P

I MIGHT do it, but that depends on if I figure out my plot. I'll probably just do it without joining any forum or anything, on my own, like Melody. :D

It's more fun joining a forum, though, it is very addicting. I can't wait for it to start.
