Hmm... to get this back on the topic of NaNo, I decided to either forget about NaNo this year, or lower my word count goal considerably. :P

I think you should try to write what you can and not worry about not making it to 50k. :D

Nano says I'll finish on November 25, and that's sort of my goal. I'm at 42K now, and semi-stalled again... although I haven't really worried about it. I'll get back to work this weekend.

Well, there are two stories. One is complete, and the other one is maybe almost half done? It's kind of hard to say for sure, 'cause I keep starting it over.

I'm somewhere around 37k and I killed my first character, which was hard because I didn't have enough time to explore that character, but was also good because I have now, finally, set my characters on the right path. Now that the month is half over. XD

One day left of NaNo, and I still have five thousand words to get... out of 30,000, since I had to lower my goal considerably. :P I might just use my journal I keep on my laptop.

Dory is awesome, little sis. *grins* ;)

I finished! Had nearly five thousand words to do yesterday but I did them all and am now exhausted and glad it's over!

(Though I actually did write a tiny bit this morning, and may write a leetle bit more, 'cause I kinda stopped at an interesting place o.O)

Congrats to everyone who finished! :D (I would list names, but so many have done so, I don't feel like scrolling through the thread and listing them all out)

Yeah, I also have quite a bit left on my story! Probably am only 60% of the way through it but oh well. :P

Congratulations to everyone who finished!

I managed to get my wordcount and almost finish my story. So I guess that's my goal for December...

Aw, come on, I'm sure that isn't true. If you wrote something, you didn't fail! Besides, you're a busy guy. I've found that once people hit the age of 15 (and you're 16, if I remember correctly) things get harder and you have more stuff to do. So cut yourself some slack! :) You did fine.

Well, technically he did. * smiles * I do not mean to be unencouraging.... To attempt is always better than to not have attempted. How much did you do, Varon?

And you are right that failure is not necessarily a failure, Gray Etcetera. :) (That reminds me of when White Raven told E that pain doesn't hurt...:P :))

That's all right, Varon. :) I failed five years before ever reaching 50k. Renna's right that things do get busier when you reach 15 years of age. And Juliet's right that it's better to attempt than not attempt at all. :)

You all did so well! I'm very happy that so many of you finished. And I commend those who tried. You still wrote quite a bit, Varon!

And I can testify to the life-gets-busy-at-age-15 thing. o.O I did NaNo when I was 14 but this year is too busy now that I'm 15. :P

*feels suddenly very out of place* And here I was just thinking I need to make NaNo next year harder... :x

Congrats to everyone who finished and a toast to all those who wrote anything at all! (Because you're all so cool. )

It's good that you're ready to aim even higher. :)

Thanks.

Just wait until you're 16. Then it's a lot harder than 15.

Who says I'm 15? o.O Yes, though, I understand what you mean. My life has been pretty uncomplicated for the past several years, which I'm sure helps. So if things change this year and I'm a lot busier, then I might stick to the 50k. (I wasn't planning on going much more than that, but I thought it might be nice to go an even 2k per day and get up to 60k.)

*pats all the fifteen and sixteen-year-olds on the head* Just wait until you're twenty-two, guys. ;)

In all seriousness... I truly think it just takes discipline. Most days I didn't have much more than my allotted hour to work on NaNo, and some days I had significantly less. (Try balancing publishing, family holidays, screenwriting for a web series, chores, and NaNo all in one month...) But with discipline and focus it is possible. :) And if we want to keep writing seriously when we're married with families, or full time jobs, we must learn discipline. :D So let's try to learn it and practice now! ^_^

Me, I think it takes practice. Every year I've done Nano it's been easier, because I was a better writer, and I understood the process better. To the point where I completed Nano twice this year with 60K both times.

Of course, I'm a fine one to talk... I don't have school, or a life, or anything like that...
