Me: Congratulations, Merashath. I think you won. Raedon is...

Jathan: What?

Telvia: I know, I know!!

Telvia: He ran out of energy! Like Tynx!

Me: Only he's not going to recover nearly as fast as Tynx does. Raedon... get over here...

Raedon: *begins to fade back into the beginning of his story...*

Me: well, all right, that works too...

*technical note on the subject of shapeshifters* As energy beings "running out of energy" is a pretty serious problem. It's like taking a fish out of water too long. I haven't worked out all the technicalities of how it works, there's a thread for them on HWSF if you're curious. Basically, Raedon pushed himself too far, changed shape too much too fast, and did the Shelki equivalent of fainting.

Me: Come on guys, out. Out, out.

Chase: I don't have magic.

Me: Chase, that sword's loaded with it.

Chase: What?!

Timothy: Go over it, son. You know what each part represents.

Chase: What? Out loud?

Rob: You might wanna do it, kid. If not just to appease your dad here.

Chase: Alright. [Steps away from Griffin, then lunges at Elanhil.]

Timothy:...

Me: Give him a bit. I need to find good spots.

Sophia: Are you sure this was a good idea?

Rob: He'll be fine, Soph.

Tynx: So, shapeshifters run out of energy when they change?

Cory: Only the ones who don't have endless reserves.

Tynx: Haha, very funny.

Me: He's getting too mature.

Ponkin: Nuts?! Where're the nuts?! DON'T let Ashton find them! He'll hide them from me!!! [Tail twitches constantly]

Chayn: I have only one word for this thing... obsessed.

Ponkin: I am not. I like nuts, but I'm not obsessed. That's chipmunks. They're obsessed. I mean, have you ever seen them? They're so fat they grow too round and their tails shrink. I need a nut. [Scurries around Thysal's legs, sniffing] Have any of those caffee-nuts you talked about?

Me: Ashton's a friesian horse, BTW.

Cory: I think he's just replaced Tynx on the cuteness scale.

Tynx: [Snorts jealously]

Tanner: *pulls a bag of sunflower seeds out of pocket* It's close buddy if you can find me a carbonated beverage.

Me: Or three.



Me: That's sort of nasty, Hadwin. Riniel, your reaction was funny. XD

Charlotte: Ugh... *makes a distasteful face*

Lucius: *laughs*

Me: *takes a breath like I'm going to say something then lets it out* Tch, never mind, you! I suppose you can't help that fact. Hold on...I am the author...so technically I could always turn you into a girl instead...

Charlotte: *appalled* How could you ever suggest such a dreadful thing???

Lucius: *narrowed eyes/glare* You would not...

Me: *evil grin back* You're right, I wouldn't. ^^

Charlotte: *sighs*

Me: *whispers to Lucius* Mostly because Charlotte would kill me if I did.

Lucius: Ah, I can see where you would think that.

Charlotte: Did you say something about me? >:(

Me: Maybe that was a poor choice of words...

Hadwin: I never touched the dew. It never touched anything except for the grass and the cup.

Me: He used magic to, move it from the mountain.

Merashath: *sits back* Yes!

Me: actually, if the duel had taken place a bit later, you would have lost.

Merashath: Why?

Me: I changed the way you react to light...especially light of heaven.

Merashath: What happens?

Hadwin: You know you can't defeat it, so you run away.

Me: I declare Raedon the winner!

Merashath:

Elanhil: *Bats Chase's sword away and cuts upward and to the right at Griffin, then ducks spins around to the right and positions his sword in front of him all in one fluid movement.*

Elanhil: *Looks up* that was sort of cool.

Raedon: There. See? I won.

Me: You shut up. what are you doing anyway? You're worn out!

Raedon: I went back to my story, remember?

Me: Yeah, but...

Raedon: So, in the story Ben shows up and he helps me get my strength back.

Me: Yeah, but in the story you're about to die because of the crash.

Raedon: So? I still get my strength back.

Me: Yeah, but...

Telvia: Why is he in here when I'm not allowed to be?

Me: Out. All of you. go.

*phew* New charries. From novel number... *counts* three or four, depending on where you count Lighting Ranger. This one is called "The Last Wizard", is loosely based off of a dream I had, is one of the major reasons I switched to scifi, but still teaches my favorite lesson: Magic is never justified. Ever. Period. End. Fini.

Tirol: Says who?

Me: They don't even know who you are yet... shut up and let me finish.

Not to say you can't use magic in your stories. I do, you do, we all do, we call it cobha, we ignore it, etc. This story proves... well, it proves the ends never justify the means I guess. So! Meet Morgon, the most miserable character I've ever created. (Except maybe Ia'tahz... but I don't think so.)

Morgon: I- I'm not sure I should be here. There are so many people...

Me: They won't think you're strange, trust me. There are much stranger people here than you.

Morgon's eyes change color. Ceaselessly. People usually get creeped out after talking to him for a few minutes so he has a tendency not to look at anyone.

Father Matthew: It will be all right, Morgon. I sense much good in this place.

Me: Father Matthew is the priest of Fairsey Village. He's taken care of Morgon since the death of his mother when he was five years old. Father Matthew is the only one who accepts Morgon for who he is, despite his father being a wizard. Everyone else in the village hates or fears him, and most wanted him killed. They accept him now, but he's still distrusted, and it's more because of Father Matthew that he's allowed to stay.

Tal: Hey, what about me?

Me: I'm not sure you're still in this story.

Lianna: What about me?

Me: I hate you.

Lianna: *in tears* What?

Me: I am not. going to. feel guilty. about hating. my characters.

Tal: Hush, Lianna. Don't cry. It will be all right.

Me: Take it somewhere else... will you? And get out of my post.

Cory: Howdy to the new people.

Seymour: [Smiles and nods in acknowledgement]

Me: Could you be less animated, Seymour?

Seymour: I could, but then I would appear rude.

Me: [Ignores him] That's cool. I wonder if Kherin and Seymour would get along?

Seymour: Who says we wouldn't?

Cory: Um.... most elves?

Seymour: [Hits Cory's shoulder with the flat of his blade]

Chase: [Stumbles backward a little. Then waits to see what happens next]

Rob: Get in there, kid!

Chase: And do what?

Timothy: Fight. That's what a duel is about.

Chase: [Attacks Elanhil again]

Me: I love it when I get characters/stories form dreams. It's awesome. Seymour came from one.

Tynx: What'd I come from?

Me: A picture.

Ponkin: [Scurries over to Fairivel and starts sniffing around his feet] You smell funny. Do you have any nuts?

Me: Forgive him. He's... young.

Tynx: Obviously.

Me: If you can't learn to be nice, I'll send you into a room by yourself.

Tynx: I'll behave.

Chayn: [Sniffs Kherin] You Elves smell so odd. Humans do, too.

Cory: Because we have a sense of personal hygiene.

Tynx; That was cold, Cory.

Chayn: [Snorts and flaps her wings briefly in annoyance]

Zanya - (waves at all the newcomers) Hi, all!

Sabre - Elves? And Wizard-sons? What next?

Me - Draconai.

Sabre - I'm sorry I asked.

Me - I'm working on developing Zanya and Sabre more, since I'm starting their story.

Zanya - (eyes Fairivel with suspicion and shapeshifts into a feline, watching him coldly) Right, so how much like Iri are you?

Sabre - Zanya! (yanks her tail) Be polite!

Zanya - Ouch! Hey! (whirls around, snarling)

Sabre - (staring steadily at her) Knock it off.

Zanya - (snorts) Fine. (sits and glares at him)

Sabre - (bows) I apologize. She's a strange one; friendly one moment, suspicious the next. Zanya, what has gotten into you?

Me - I'm reworking her personality.

Sabre - Oh please . . .

Niarah - A pleasure to meet you, Morgon, Tirol, Father Matthew, Tal, Lianna. And welcome, Kherin and Fairivel. (spots the squirrel) That's amazing. Where do you get all that energy, Ponkin?

Thysal - (Bends down to get a closer look at Morgon, her silver eyes sparkling with interest) Hello, young one.

Ponkin: Oh, I, I don't really know. Judah says I'm born with it and there's no way to get rid of it. I don't know why he wants me to get rid of it. I don't even know how to get rid of it. Ashton says it's the nuts. But nuts aren't that bad. Nuts are healthy. It's an essential part of every growing squirrel's life!

Tynx: He's making my head spin.

Me: Mine too. If he gets a bit much for anyone, let me know.

Ponkin: I'm not too much, I'm too little!

Tynx: Oh, and humor to boot. And, where did you find him again?

Cory: He's quite the character, that's for sure.

Me: He doesn't even have a story.

Tynx: A homeless squirrel?

Me: Sure, if you put your mind to thinking like that.

Elanhil: *blocks chase again*

Merashath: *anger* I won! I WON!

Me: Nope.

Hadwin: *braces himself*

Me: how can anything make Tynx's head spin? Aris, you outdo yourself.

Tynx: I'm not even sure myself.

Cory:

Me: Don't you say a word.

Cory: I didn't say anything!

Me: You were going to.

Seymour: I thought you said you weren't going to argue with your characters.

Me: I know. I need to cut back a little. But he started it!

Cory: Wouldn't have if you hadn't been about to mention your game.

Me: I'm not the one mentioning it now!

Cory: Yes you are. I'm not real.

Tynx: He wins.

Me: ...

Seymour: Cory, behave.

Chase: [Backs off and waits.]

Cassie: [Hugs Merashath] You did really well, anyway. Don't be mad.

Cory: Did she seriously just do that?

Ponkin: Do what? Who did what? Where? [Completely misses the fact that he's being ignored]

Me: Mae govannen newcomers! @morgan, sorry if I zone out looking at your eyes, it's like when there's one of those moving screensavers and you can't stop looking at it until it hits the corner dead on... I'm probably just waiting for the right color...

Pernoxnix: *touches fore leg to his head and extends it in greeting* greetings Father Matthew and Morgan. (and your fellows but I don't know them as well)

Tanner: No worries Morgan, I'm an outcast too. This place grows on ya.

Me: I'm back! I was on restriction and now I am off it. (Plus I am super excited because I organized my notes and they are 4 inches thick!)

Shawn: Oooh! I love Mountain Dew! Can I-

Me: Uh no. And no. And no.

Jay: If you give Mountain Dew to Lars, you do not want to make him mad at you.

Shawn: Lars?

Me: A character who hasn't come into the story yet who has no defined personality as of now.

Shawn: Oh. Oooh, Ponkin, do you want some Mountain Dew?

Me: *facepalm*

Jay: Uh, what did you do, Azriel and Iri? I got confused.

Shawn: And you're short!

Jay:

Ponkin: Mountain Dew? Dew from a mountain? That sounds like something Geiki would eat.... I'll take some!

Me: [Slams forehead against tree]

Ponkin: [Sniffs Pernoxnix] Ooh.... what kind of animal are you? You look funny-

[A large black friesan horse walks in. His dark eyes stern]

Ashton: Ponkin!

Ponkin: [Squeaks in alarm and stiffens, dropping to one side.]

Me: [Slams forehead against tree twice more]

Ashton: Behave yourself, you rascal! For shame!

Ponkin: Sorry.

Seymour: [Pulls me away from the tree before I repeat above actions]

Ashton: [Looks up, sniffing.] What is this place you've gotten yourself into?

Ponkin: They have caffee-nuts! And Mountain Dew!

Ashton: Wha- never mind, I don't want to know.

Pernoxnix: only a simple gecko my friend. But on rather a larger scale then my cousins of the same classification

Me: he's about four feet long with tail guys

Merashath: *Looks down at Cassie and groans*

Me: *laughs*

Merashath: *Glares*

Me: *Composes self, but still laughing slightly*

Merashath: *snorts and ignores me*

Me: *gets tired of writing through actions*

Elanhil: *Drops back and waits for Griffin*

Hadwin: *Waits for his opponent who's name I forget*

Me: *Decides these star things (asterisks?) look really cool*

Shawn: Here you go, Ponkin. *hands him a bowl of Mountain Dew*

Me: I put it in a bowl so he could drink it easier.

Jay: *sidles around behind Azriel* He can get you first.

Shawn: *looks around and notices-* TYNX!

Me: Jay, what are you doing?

Jay: Hey, I'm only 7.

Jay: Interesting family relations, guys.

Shawn: Oh, he does have cool eyes. *stares at them*

Jay: Yuck.

Me: Don't start that again.

Shawn: Iri, you don't want any Mountain Dew, do you? *smirks slightly*

Me: You don't start anything either, okay?

Shawn: *sighs* Fine. *looks for Tynx*

Ashton: I-

Ponkin: [Starts slurping down the Mountain Dew like there's no tomorrow]

Ashton: Uh... what will do to him?

Rob: Well, if it's caffeinated, he'll be up all night, and all day... and all night, and all day... and so on until the caffeine wears off.

Ashton: [Stomps a hoof nervously] And, when would that be?

Tynx: Well, considering his amount of energy, he's probably gonna be awake for years. [Runs over to Shawn excitedly] Hi! I missed you!

Cory: Cassie, I don't think Merashath likes that.

Cassie: [Steps back] Oh, sorry. I thought everybody liked hugs. Is it a villain-thing?

Ashton: [Lowers head to look at Pernoxnix] You are quite a creature, sir. What makes you larger than your kind? Or were you just born that way?

Me: Didn't know Ashton was inquisitive...

Ashton: You're testing us out here. Question are bound to be asked. I'm just worried about how many the squirrel's asked.

Cory: He's done more talking than asking..... most of the time.

Tynx: [Cuddling with Shawn

Cory: You should have done that a while ago.

Me: I know. But it was all the way up in my room and I didn't want to go get it, scan it, and then put it in those other times.

Shawn: He. is. so. cute.

Me: A little vain, if nothing else. I'm glad I finally put this up.

Cory: Ha ha.

Ashton: That's what worries me. He already causes a lot of mischief. Judah's going to have a fit. Geiki will be driven mad, and the girls will try and eat him.

Me: What creatures did I create? O.o

Ashton: Hey, you got the bear cubs on your side.

Me: That's reassuring.

Pernoxnix: The difference between myself and the other races of geckos are about the same as those races compared to each other. And yes I was born of a larger size than they, although it is beyond me to tell you anything of my race before my birth.

Ashton: So, you are a different race of gecko?

Pernoxnix: essentially yes, that's a good way to put it. Although I only know of six of us. We refer to ourselves as the arcane geckos due to the fact that we are the only race to be sentient.

Me: Aw, he is cute! (And I am NOT a girl, Jay.)

Merashath: *snorts and walks away.* Villain thing. Whatever.

Hadwin: *looks at Ponkin* Considering his tiny body mass and his relatively high levels of energy, the caffeine could kill him, it would make him so sleep deprived.

Me: Blow your education into all of our faces.

Hadwin: Whatever I know you know.

Me: Oh yeah. That's right, isn't it.

Elanhil: *Suddenly ducks and thrusts at Chase*

Charlotte: *gasps* He's adorable! *scratches Tynx behind the ears*

Me: Wow! Did you draw that???

Lucius: He does have a doting charm about him, doesn't he?

Charlotte: Of course he does! I wish his kind lived in our world!

Me: Well there are feral foxes, but you'd never be able to catch one.

Charlotte: *hears a challenge* Are you sure?

Lucius: *droops head* Oh no.

Me: *sternly* Charlotte, don't you dare.

Charlotte: Dare, I do not. Do, I will. *mischievous smile*

Lucius: How are you going about this chase?

Charlotte: On my horse like the other fox hunters.

Lucius: If I can not stop you, you know I am going to escort you.

Ashton: It's going to kill him?!

Ashton: Do you have any idea how much of a bad idea that was?!

Cory: Wow, you need to chill.

Ponkin: [Has now licked the bowl clean of the Mountain Dew and is now in the bowl on his back with his tail hanging out.]

Me: Or... he could just get drunk?

Ashton: Oh I hope not.

Ponkin: That. Was- [Jumps up and starts running around the room way too fast for anyone to see him] AWESOME!!!!

Shawn: *sadness* Poor turkeys.

Jay: What?

Hadwin: *Laughs uproariously at Ponkin*

Elanhil: *Drops to the ground and rolls out of the way and then springs up. He looks at Chase's sword.* Magic? I didn't know we were allowed to use magic. *Suddenly Elanhil's entire sword glows white and begins to smoke with heat.*

Me: Elanhil, don't do it. Or I'll take the sword away.

Elanhil: *Instantly the sword returns to normal, and he chops at Chase.*

Me: Yay, Elanhil!

Shawn: I don't like chicken pot pie so much after watching Chicken Run...

Jay: Girls. Food is food. *watches the duel* Go Elanhil!

Shawn: *plays with Tynx*

Niarah - Butterball Turkey? What is that?

Thysal - If it means food, then I'm a fan.

Niarah - Oh, we should give Mountain Dew to one of the dragons here!

Rahor - Uh-oh.

Zanya - Then it's a pleasure to meet you, Lord Fairivel. (looks at Iri) What kind of trouble haven't you gotten into?

Sabre - I just don't get you, Zanya. And why should he tell you?

(A tall, slender young woman walks in. Her hair is wavy and golden, and her eyes are the clear shimmery blue of water. Sensitive ears and the shape of her eyes betray that she's not entirely human/elven)

Nalya - No one gets her, Sabre.

Zanya - And appears the River Canai. Where did you come from, Nalya?

Nalya - From whence you have come, Sister.

Niarah - (looks at me) You're starting another book, aren't you? And it doesn't involve me and my comrades, does it?

Me - Yes to the first question, and no to the second. I'm taking a break from felines.

Rahor - (sheathes his sword) If you're ready, Ravork, let me know. @Me: Then what's Zanya?

Zanya - Do I need to say it again?

Nalya - (spots Tynx) Oh my, he is so adorable! (walks over by Shawn to pet the fox)

Rahor - Girls. Sheesh.

Ashrai - (knowing grin) You take 'em or you leave 'em. (finds the blade of Niarah's staff at his neck)

Niarah - Really now? I don't think we ladies care what you think.

Me - Break it up, you two.

Thysal - I can't believe that squirrel. Where'd he go?

Shawn: You want to hold him? *hands him to her* I'll be right back...

Me: Oh dear.

Jay: Don't dragons get hiccups if you give them soda?

Me: *shrug* I guess.

Shawn: *holds out a bowl of Mountain Dew* Do you want some, Chayn?

Jay: *hides* I don't like enormous fiery hiccups...

Pernoxnix: I'm not aware of dragons getting hiccups but if they become intoxicated, at least as it pertains to the dragons of this world, they go insane and then die within a week...

Tanner: But I'm cool with Mountain Dew. *amused half smile*

Jay: *crawls back out* *reads Pernoxnix's comment* Insane dragons? *hides*

Me: Interesting...

Shawn: That's kind of scary...

Pernoxnix: The shape-shifters usually chase them through the portals with the other Vorcolacs at that point... Not to worry.

Shawn:

Jay: Okay, then... *peeks out cautiously*

Me: *stares at my unresponsive characters who have remained unresponsive for... um... x pages...*

Me: Guys.

Me: Guys.

Me: *sigh* This is so not working...

Telvia: Does that mean we can come in?

Me: no.

Telvia: But- but-

Me: no. *stares at unresponsive characters. Glares at low word count. Stares... thinks.* I wish I could bring my nano charries in here. There's just not this kind of action on HWSF.
