Kendri: I think we need another team refresher.

Me: Yep. I'm getting confused trying to figure out who's on whose team and which balls are going where.

Kendri: Obviously.

Me: Which new characters need to be put on teams? (Sorry, Ioanna, I didn't notice that you asked for Calen's characters. Maybe I shouldn't be posting so late at night... )

Me: Well, you two, how are you going to go about deciding what team you're on?

Lucius: *gazes thoughtfully at ground*

Charlotte: Lucius, you can stay on Evening's team. I'll go to Amanda's team. *smile*

Lucius: *breathes out and grudgingly replies* Fine.

Charlotte: Don't worry, I'll try not to beat you to badly. *grins at him*

Lucius: *grins back* Is that a challenge?

Charlotte: Maaaybe. *turns and walks to Amanda's team*

Me: Well, this should be fun. Hopefully we'll all be able to keep track of things...that may be difficult since I won't be on until Sunday after tonight. 0.o

I went ahead and put Aidon on Kendri's team because her team has caught more balls than Ionna's and there was some obscure rule somewhere... I just thought he'd like to know what team he's playing on. Griffen, if you don't mind, just split your characters the way Calenmiriel did and put whoever you want on whoever's team you like, as long as the captains don't object?

Ioanna: This means there are two Aidan's on Kendri's team... oh well. The game shall go on!

Elkine: ::rears up and gets hit in the chest with the orange ball:: Oh please.

Ioanna: You're out!

Anton: But a ball got caught. So does that mean I'm in?

Ioanna: ::sigh:: I suppose. But if you get out again, I'm not bringing you back until more valuable players like Mordir get back in.

Oh, I didn't notice the two Aidons! But actually, it will save confusion, because if you throw a ball at Aidon at least... never mind. You're right. Oh well. I don't think anything can get more confusing anyway.

Me: Okay, Griffin, you're on Ionna's team with Tesra and Phillip. Matt and Ravork are on the other team.

Matt: Why do I have to be with Ravork?

Griffin: So maybe you will cheer him up or he will mellow you down.

Me: Wow, I had to write down the teams on paper so I wouldn't be completely lost there. 0.o Now, after much confusion and internet page back and forthing (I'm a word maker upper) I think I may be grasping what's going on.

Lucius: *catches orange ball flying at Elanhil and launches it at Tynx* I thought I would eliminate of one of the two flying objects coming at you, Elanhil. I hope this has made it easier for you to pursue the blue ball which, I might add, is coming toward you at a startling speed.

Me: Smooth move there, Lucius. ^^

Charlotte: It was impressive, I suppose. *sniff*

Lucius: Why thank you, fair lady. I try my best. *said mockingly*

Charlotte: But of course!

Tynx: Wait, what? [Gets smacked by the orange ball and goes skidding across the court]

Me: OK, since Tynx is now out, why was he out before the ball hit him?

Tynx: Wow, I'm seeing lots of little Steves! They're everywhere!

Mordir: [Pulls Tynx off to the side]

Hakor: Wow.... Aris, shouldn't you print out one?

Me: Hmm? I prob'ly should, but not right now. I might just keep up a page open.

Chase: [Grabs up orange ball and throws it at Matt]

Jek: Nice arm.

Chase: Uh, thanks?

Cassie: Yay!

Mordir: Charlotte, grab the purple ball and throw! It's free!

Tynx: You're weird.

Mordir: Hey, we need to keep the balls moving. But not like what you and Merashath were doing.

Tynx: Yeah, I'm still not sure how I was out.... before the orange ball knocked my brains out, anyway.

Cory: Out of curiosity, what's the relationship between you and Lucius, Charlotte? I mean, are you brother and sister?

Merashath: Since you batted the red ball to me with your tail, and I just let it fly past, it's the same as if someone threw it and it hit your tail then bounced on the ground.

Me: It's a technicality. You also can't drop a ball you've caught, or it's the same as being out. We should have agreed on these technical rules.

Elanhil: [using the red ball as a shield, bats the blue ball upward(like, to the ceiling)] Thanks, Lucius. Not sure I could have handled two. [Launches red ball at Mordir, and catches blue ball as it comes down.] I'll hold on to this.

Merashath: [rushes towards the sea ball and snatches it up in his wing. With a rapid un-curling motion, he launches it down the court at AidOn. Not Aidan.]

Me: If a ball is caught, whoever threw it is out, right? Also, let's set a time limit. whichever team is winning when we break page 65 wins.

Too many technicalities.
I think we should keep it simple. If you get hit by the ball you're out. Maybe we shouldn't let people back on at all, and the game wins when all the members of one team are out. It's easier that way. You've only got to remember two things.

Charlotte: I have the purple ball! *raises it in the air* My thanks, Mordir! *targets Lucius and throws ball at him*

Lucius: You're very welcome, Elanhil. I hope to be an asset to the team. *dodges the purple ball Charlotte threw and watches it soar to Varon's AidAn*

Charlotte: Lucius! That should have hit you!

Lucius: I'm afraid I won't let you take me out that easily. Maybe you should correct your aim next, yes? *gives her a taunting look*

Charlotte: *glowers at him*

Lucius: I'll make you a wager. If you get me out I will groom your mare everyday for two weeks.

Charlotte: And if you get me out, pray tell? *annoyed*

Lucius: You will have to bake me whatever dessert I wish over a two week time period.

Charlotte: One dessert request a day. No more.

Lucius: Agreed.

Charlotte: I'd say you have yourself a wager, Mr. Harlinglton. *smirk*

Me: Wow, that would be a lot of baking. At least you're a good baker, Charlotte. And Lucius does have a way with your mare. I think it sounds like a good trade.



Charlotte: Lucius is my best friend, Cory. *smile*

Me: *grinning* Well, like Charlotte said, she and Lucius are best friends and will eventually fall in love. This is not realized until Charlotte is nineteen and Lucius is twenty. *Charlotte and Lucius hear nothing of this conversation*

By the way Janin, I like that idea. Makes it easier and the game may finally come to an end eventually. Not that I'm not enjoying myself. Now I know what I'm doing. ^^

Aidan: *watches incoming ball and dodges out of the way and picks it up after it hit the ground*

Me: Those are interesting rules, ones I've never heard of before. Especially about dropping a ball you pick up.

Matt: Aaaaahhh!! (gets smacked in the stomach and goes flying backwards) Oof!

Ravork: (grabs purple ball and aims directly at Griffin's head)

Me: I don't either. But you got hit anyway, so stay put.

Jek: I like the simple rules. You get hit, you stay out for good. It'll make things go easier.

Tesmir: [Grabs red ball and throws it at Lucius]

Tesmir: Yes. And don't you dare say anything about it.

Jek: I had no intentions.

Jek: It's like she's our mother.

Tesmir: Technically, she kind of is. She made us. And second, if she is, she dies.

Cory: [To Charlotte] I see. [To Calenmiriel] That explains their arguing.

Jek: What?

Tesmir: Don't get involved. It's romance.

Elanhil: Am I still holding a blue ball? We need a ball refresher.

Me: Yeah, and whose out? Tynx, Mordir, who else? Oh, do you think I should bring in Jade and Hadwin?

Elanhil: Sure! Who are they?

Me: Other characters of mine.

[A short dwarf with a very long beard walks in led by a comparatively tall girl, who is actually quite short.]

Hadwin: [Scans around the room with a slight, amused smile]

Me: This is Hadwin. He's one of my favorite characters, he's very old, and very wise.

Jade: [Looks around the room with a disgusted look on her face.]

Me: And this is Jade. She's a rich snob.

Jade: I am NOT a rich snob. My family is well off.

Me: *whispering* she's a rich snob. *end whispering* Oh! I almost forgot! I'll also bring in Ohstel.

[A large, gray cat strides in. Spotting Elanhil, she runs over and lays at his feet, playfully like a kitten.]

Me: She's Ohstel. Elanhil's pet....eventually.

Elanhil: What is this thing? I can't play dodge-ball with it hanging on to my feet like that!

Ohstel: [Ears flatten as she slowly makes her way back to the sideline.]

Me: She can pretty much understand all human speech, and communicates surprisingly well. She's a sapramuh, a large panther-like creature.

Anton: Does that mean I'm out still? Or not?

Ethan: And what happens when I catch a ball? Like this? ::reaches up and catches Aidan's ball:: Wait a sec... Aidan, you're on my team! Right?

Ioanna: I think we are all very confused... :P

Me: Me too.

Elkine: Welcome, new characters! Cute kittie! All those little girls will like her...

Um... I don't have time for a full blown refresher right now. I... might be able to do it in the morning. For now, we all seem to be agreed. The characters that got brought back in are still in and have to get hit again. If you catch the ball with your tail, wings, hands, or head, whatever you do that makes it momentarily stand still, it is not the same as getting hit. If you are hit by the ball, meaning you fail to dodge it, then you are out. Once you are out, from this point on, you stay out.

Does that make sense? Any objections? That means, if you are out right now, that's it. If you are not out right now, even if you were out previously in the game, you have to get hit again. See?

Aidan: I don't know. If we are, consider it a pass.

Hakor: [Catches ball] I'm not playing. Try again. [Tosses ball back to Lucius] I'm twenty-one, Calenmiriel.

Cory: Sounds like they're an interesting pair.

Tynx: So... Mordir and I are still out, right?

Griffin: (jumps, flips, and grabs the red ball as it goes under him) Yeah!

Me: Jeepers! This is getting intense! Lucius, I didn't know you were very competitive?

Lucius: *panting slightly* I can when I wish to be.

Charlotte: Yes, and it can be so irritating too.

Lucius: What do you mean, Charlotte? You're more competitive than myself, I believe.

Charlotte: *flushes angrily*

Me: You know, they actually get along better when they are competing against each other. ^^;; Take it easy you two, it's just a game.

Cory: Sheesh, if we pitted Tesmir against one of his brothers, there'd be no end of it.

Tesmir: Of course there would.

Cory: How would it end?

Tesmir: It ends when I'm on both feet and my brother's lying on his back unconscious.

Me:.... a little harsh?

Tesmir: Maybe.

Hakor: Rune would probably have you on your back and unconscious.

Tesmir: Yeah.... sometimes I wonder if he doesn't know his own strength. But Lucius and Charlotte seem to be more civilized in their competitiveness.

Gail: By the sound of it, there are a lot of competitive people around here.

Cassie: Yeah, and they all got sucked into dodgeball.

Me: Nothing bad could happen there.

Tynx: Who's Mordir competitive against?

Mordir: I don't make it a habit of collecting rivals. Being a villain gives me that benefit automatically.

Me: I don't think he has one. Unless you count Gail. But even then, Gail and Mordir haven't shown up in the story.

Mordir: Gail? He's-

2. I lengthen an Amber story.
3. Then your story.

Cassie: Rats.

Chase: Take all the time you need.

Me: I probably will.

Elanhil: [Runs over to Lucius.] Um, how do you need assistance, I'm a bit confused.

Hadwin: Splendid! [claps hands] Could 'h' be spelled e-i-c-h?

Ohstel: [Begins to purr]

Merashath: Whoah!!! What is that!

Me: That's the sound of a very large cat purring.

Lucius to Elanhil: The ball, the ball! Grab the orange ball coming this way!

Me: Wow, poor guy's losing his cool.

Charlotte: It's not often I get to see Lucius' impatient side. *laughs* Usually it's me who loses my temper.

Me: Well, games do bring out the worst in us, don't they?



Charlotte: It would hardly do us good to be uncivilized in our competitiveness since reputations are high in the Victorian Era. Of course, I've made my mistakes in the past...and there are days I don't give a care to reputation...

Me: Hmm, maybe mudslinging would be fun to watch you and Lucius battle out your differences...

Lucius: I think not. *turns to Elanhil who graciously came to his side in his time of need* Elanhil, please forgive my impatience. I do not mean to be short with you, nor do I mean disrespect. I simply cannot handle several flying objects with only two arms.

Me: Is Elanhil older than Lucius? (I wasn't sure if there was a bio saying how old he is.)

Lucius: One should respect those who are younger than themselves, as well as older than one's self.

Charlotte: Well said, sir.

Ethan: So, let's see... who should I throw this ball at..?

Elkine: Kendri.

Ioanna: That big cat.

Anton: Aidan--whichever one isn't on our team.

Ethan: The cat isn't playing. Kendri it is. ::throws blue ball at Kendri::

Anton: Hey! What about Aidan?

Anton: *places sword on Ethan's neck* This is why.

Me: Enough of that! ::sword disappears, and the two troublemakers end up in different corners with their hands and feet tied:: If that doesn't work, I'll make you hold hands.

*Anton and Ethan gasp*

Me: Hee hee.. Janin, are you sure you can't bring Raedon Shelki in? I think he'd like it here. (and it'd be awesome to see him fight Merashath. )

Griffin: Apparently the orange ball is causing quite a commotion.

Matt: Okay I'm back in! Uh, what should I do?

Tesra: Throw balls, catch balls, and (gasp!) dodge balls.

Griffin: Not in dodgeball!!!

Tesra: Yes!

Matt: Okay!

Griffin: You know, Lucius looks like he would appreciate another ball. (snatches silver ball since has been hanging in the air for three pages and sends it Lucius's way)

Phillip: You do realize, Griffin, that the red ball is moving back in your direction at an extremely high velocity?

Griffin: Huh?

Tesra: Look out!

(Griffin ungracefully hits the deck as the red ball sails over)

Tesra: Boy, that was graceful.

Ravork: (grabs red ball and hurls it hard at Mordir)

Me: oooh, that would be fun. I've never thought about how a Shelki fights. Okay, I'll think about it.

Telvia: Oh goody. Will I like him?

Me: He's a jerk.

Jathan: Oh.

Me: Remember? I said you wouldn't get along.

Telvia: Oh yeah, that's right. But you could be wrong!

Me: I'm beginning to think this might actually be fun. Maybe when the dodgeball game's over. Okay? Is anyone out yet?

Me: Jek is out, but he is the only one.

Matt: Look out Aaron!! There is a green ball headed towards you too!

Me: If Iri would like to be on a team I could put Tesra on the opposite team to balance it.

Tesra: Sounds good, I'm ready to play!

Ethan: Yes! Iri, come be on our team! Please!

Me: Are you trying to start a rebellion again, or what?

Ioanna: Ethan, two villains is not enough to start a rebellion. Isn't Mordir out already?

Ethan: I thought he got put back in. ::shrug:: Two is plenty! Rebellions usually start with one.

Ioanna: And aren't you still tied up?

Me: I untied them to be fair.

Anton: uh-oh! Ioanna's at it again! *grins teasingly*

Elkine: Wasn't there a yellow ball flying at Aaron too?

Me: Don't remember.

Elkine: Hmmm. Oh well. If he gets hit then it'll be all the more funny. Somebody throw a ball at Ethan!

Cassie: Yeah! Lemme start over-

OK: OK fine. E-i-c-h. There, now I spelled it all. Thank you, Mr. Hadwin!

Cassie: Somebody's got a new favorite. And she's hasn't been here very long.

Chase: Did she even have a favorite to begin with?

Mordir: [Jumps aside] I'm paying attention, this time.

Me: Good. Otherwise you would've had a big ole goose-egg.

Mordir: You're very encouraging.

Cory: The only bad reputation I can think of is Mordir's.

Mordir: Oh very funny.

Cory: I wasn't kidding.

Tynx: [Yaps loudly in a high pitch and grabs up the red ball and throws it at Sonderan]

Jek: And, the bark was for?

Tynx: Because Cory and Mordir are being annoying.

Mordir: Aw c'mon, let Iri join our side! Gail can join the other side!

Me: Mordir!

Hakor: That's cruel, Mordir.

Gail: No, thank you. I'll sit this one out.

My characters playing dodgeball: [Silent]

Tynx: I don't think he gets it.

Gail: Oh, I understood. But I don't see any reason for getting angry. He's a villain, and thus it's in his nature to be that way.

Mordir: Um... OK?

Me: Quit being difficult, or I'll make you hold hands with someone.

Mordir:

Me: That's what I thought.

Gail: Relax. I'm not offended.

Me: Of course you're not.

Gail: But that doesn't mean I don't like him.

Chase: [Laughs]

Elanhil: [turns just in time to see flash of orange and silver, and dives in front of Lucius and catches the orange one. Reaching for the silver one, he falls to the ground before he can catch it.] You'll have to deal with that one! [looks up] I'm nineteen.

Hadwin [to Cassie]: [smiling] You can just call me Hadwin.

Ohstel: [sits and watches the colorful balls flying back and forth]

Hadwin: [Also turns to watch] some of those balls have been in the air for quite some time.

Merashath: Who is this, Raedon Shelki?

Me: I'm a bit un-pleased with Merashath's fighting tactics, I need to improve them. Oh, good news for you, Elanhil. I decided not to write firearms out of the story.
