Oh yes, she joined. I've been PMing her about the Debugger project. :D

*Chuckles* Yes I sent her your profile link, she couldn't work out who 'Katie' was on here. :D

I'm hoping Nano will help her with her book, she has lots of ideas for it but hasn't started writing it yet so yea, it will be cool to see if it helps her. :D

A little over 13 hours here... And yes, I do plan on getting started between 12-1am. ;) However, I have to finish test-reading Jonathan's book  first, so it depends on when I get that done. I haven't reread all my notes for this story, so I might have to do that first. :)

Oh yes, it starts tonight!!! *dances* And just to post it somewhere, so I don't break my own rule.... I hearby resolve not to open the document with my notes so I can't obsess over anything until 11:00 pm, and only then to read over notes, not to add anything. You see, that way I can't stress over only having a few chapters outlined.

Naughty RedWing couldn't stand waiting any longer and started her novel the day before yesterday.

None of it will count in the 50,000, though. :D

Anyhow, I'm doing NaNo! And I'm going to (hopefully) start writing tonight at midnight. :D If my parents let me, that is. I suspect they probably will.

Is there going to be a thread on NaNo usernames? I'd like to buddy y'all. :D

Only seven and a half hours here. I am quite excited. :D

I should do that, Zlyn, but I'll probably be obsessing over my outline (which I haven't touched since last month  ) and trying to fix character flaws at about nine-thirty tonight, my time.

Well, next time I'll post here, it'll probably be tomorrow, so good luck with your novels, y'all! :D

You should! It works quite well. I am now forced to not touch my document. ;)

I think the username thread is in GD. There's also an HW thread in the Writing Groups and Clubs section of the Nano site and I think a lot of us have commented over there.

Haven't started yet. ;) I voted against writing after midnight. Instead, I'm going to treat this like a normal writing project and do most of my work in the afternoon/evening. I'm hoping to just keep a steady pace of about 2k a day (with Sunday off) and not worry about getting ahead.

We'll see how that holds.

Keep it coming, people!

I got my 2k in - 2, 268 to be precise. That's enough for today, so I'll be watching Cars 2 this evening. ;)

Weeeeellll...

I stayed up past midnight and wrote for an hour last night, ending up with around a thousand words. The problem was, I was bored. Very bored. I wrote another 500 the next morning, getting more bored the whole time, and I quickly realized I wasn't going to be able to stick with that story for a month and get anything interesting.

Panic ensued. :P

With a lot of help from my bestest Vanya-Katie, and some help from my Twin, I finally decided to pull out another project I'd abandoned after seven pages awhile back but still really liked. I picked it up, wrote 400 words or so this afternoon, am good with it, and am planning to write like an insane writer-brain tonight.

There be my tragic tale, but it ends well. (I think...)

Congrats to everyone with their much more awesome wordcounts! :D

Wow, that sounds like some last second planning, Grace! But I'm sure you can do it. :D I helped Cammie come up with a story idea out of nothing yesterday night and it worked out!

1559, Peoples! :dieshappy: I'm going to try and get to 2 thousand tonight.

I got 292 words done today (or yesterday depending where you live). I was really surprised when I saw I had got done more than Caleb and am now trying to decide whether I should set a goal to beat him. ;)

Anyways. Excerpt! :D

Since midnight last night, I've written 5,119 words. ^_^ Really thankful to God for that. Things weren't going too well, but they've improved greatly. Things are flowing much better.

I hope to up that by one or two hundred before bed, by adding onto what I've already written (which has been a HUGE help. I've got my word count up by...700 words or so doing that).

So...Yeah. I hope and pray that things keep going well.

Godspeed to you in all your writing endeavors, friends!
God bless,

You can read an excerpt on the site, Leah, otherwise I'll chat with you about it tonight. ;)

I word warred with Joel last night and made my goal of 2000! Yay! I'm hoping he'll be up for another one tonight. My sister did the word war at the same time, and she got over 3000 yesterday. Yay!

Twin! You is doing so well! And I love the excerpt on NaNo -- the disclaimer is awesome too.

Randomly selected Excerpt:

Quote:
“How about that devil’s breath stuff?” Joey laughed.

Landon shifted in his seat. “She didn’t say that. She just said that she felt something hot on her face and it was like the breath of the devil. Haven’t you ever heard of a simile?”

“Oh, of course. Uses as, than or like, the latter of which I just heard in your sentence, old man. But you shouldn’t have a problem with that. You’re a Christian, aren’t you? So you believe in all that Satan stuff. You probably think the tempter himself was floating outside that woman’s window, playing a little joke on her.”

“No, I don’t,” was the only thing Landon thought worth saying. He was too tired to respond.

Keep up the totally awesome work, everyone! :D

Mark, that's a really good excerpt! Grace, I think that's some of the best writing I've ever seen of yours. (the whole project, including the bit I saw last night.) You definitely made the right novel choice.

Me, I didn't quite make the goal last night. Scene transitions, ick. I'm now very energetically avoiding writing, and I'm using the grand excuse of thinking! Not smart during Nano, but we'll survive.

I'll come back with an excerpt for ya'll later.

The scene I'm working on today is going slowly... It's a very pivotal scene, and it's quite hard to get the emotions down. I mean, how would you feel if you woke up and realized you'd been transformed into "the Beast" (steampunk style)? And how does the responsible scientist explain what happened without being OTN?

However, it's coming. I made my goal for today so I shall work on it more later. :D

I'm tripping over my first person POV.

Have you ever written in 1st, Varon? Seems you mostly do 3rd. Is there a reason you can't switch to 3rd?

The Dying Words of Dick Elden, Galactic Gumshoe is 1stand stories from Aidan Romero's POV are 1st.
I'd have to rewrite all 900 words to switch.

Who says? Just switch and fix the first 900 later when you revise.

I do. I've gotten the hang of it now. It's writing 1st POV showing )Not telling) that kept tripping me.

I'm glad! Showing not telling is always hard regardless of what voice you're in. :P

My story this year is in 1st person too. I've written drabbles and such in 1st person, but never anything this long, so I'm not sure how it'll work out.

I doubt it. He not only has the time to devout to NaNo but he actually has a 50k story to work on. *rolls eyes*

I'm not entirely happy with it. I don't think the first paragraph flows well enough into the last sentence. :?
But that's editing.

Cupcake!!! *quietly accepts cupcake with awe and reverence* :D

Yeah... I'm writing 1st POV also (as the excerpt shows) and I don't think I can write 1st POV without showing a lot. But I'll go through it again later during editing and try to fix that. :)

Yes! I think I figured out a way to do most of the story in 3rd person, and still have it fit with the 1st person POV. I get practice in both, that way, and don't have to stumble through November entirely in 1st person.

Does the MC think of himself in 3rd person?

Showing is good, I think.
