I know I do. A pretty much fully developed novel, as a matter of fact. War of Weaving Strands.

Cool, would you share what's it about?

I'm doing "The Price of Freedom" which is a near future World War Three novel.

Check out my excerpt of an early concept draft in the third page of the Story Submissions section of the Tower Records. Haha.

I am hoping to do it this year. November is going to be insane, but I would really like to give it a try. I'm not sure if I'm going to sign up on the official site or just do it on my own.

I read a book by the event's founder, and it recommended starting with a new novel - and don't spend more than a week planning it. Based on that, I don't think I will attempt to use any of my current, well-developed projects. I'd like to find something fresh, run with the thrill of the "new," and try to complete something on the first wind - instead of it inevitably getting stuffed aside for revisions/evaluation.

I have a premise for a fantasy novel which I might use. But I haven't decided what's "wrong" in this fantasy world of mine. I need a problem for people to solve. :)

That's the one. Sadly, it was crude with some adult references (and language), but it was enlightening. Gave me a new perspective on NaNo, as well showed me the founder's perspective.

There are vastly different ways of going about writing novels. Some people love to do seat-of-the-pants writing. Some people simply can't do it, and have to develop before hand.

I, personally, think that NaNoWriMo is good for both kinds of people. They focus on the pantsers, but I am not one of them. I love to develop, but I have a hard time writing it all out. That is what this will help me with.

So I am using my most developed story for it, to get it written.

I need to go sign into NaNo and add people who've added me... :)

My title is Fire & Flask, I've been developing it for the past month or so; I have a logline but I'm not happy with it. ;) It's high fantasy, though. Classic elves and humans. (choosing to use instead of avoid the archetypical elf... minus mind-speaking and dragon-riding,haha)

Just registered my account. I'm still deciding whether or not to take part in the "literary abandon" - which sounds really fun - but being a perfectionist makes it hard to just write and not edit as I go. But I think I'll do it this year. Now... which story to use... :D

See, I never really outline anything, myself.... I get a general idea in my head and figure it out as I go. I guess it's because I can't explain my thoughts very well, so when I plan out a story I don't know how to write out an outline.

Yeah, I really can not write a decent outline without resorting to lots of ambushes.

So, does anyone have plans to make a series from their nano novels?

The novel I did last year could probably be part of a series, if I were to go back and edit it and finish writing the next book I started. However, I think I may just start a new series eventually --one I actually planned out as a series.

When I started writing, I didn't do any planning whatsoever, but I got pretty far with some of my stories. Now I know the value in planning, but it also seems like a lot of my stories get stuck in the planning stages because I cannot work the synopsis out completely. So for NaNo, I thought I'd go back to literary abandon for a visit. :D

I am going to challenge myself and attempt to write something with an emphasis on epic action/adventure. Usually I am a dramatist with very little adventure, and "certain people" have long been urging me to try epic. I think my NaNo story idea would work well for this.

I'm definitely a seat-of-the-pants writer. If I plan too much past character fractalling and drawing a map of the location, then I get tired of the story and shelf it. That's why with my latest stories, I've taken a solemn vow not to write a single outline. All I do are one or two sentence summaries.

By the way, I started a thread over in general discussions where ya'll can list your NaNo usernames so we can add and keep track of each other. :D

I did a bit of planning since a WW3 novel requires more than a fantasy novel.

Debatable, but I can see where you're coming from.

I won't be doing NaNo, because of school. Honestly, I think more people would do it if it were over the summer.

I agree with you Elanhil. If this were JuNoWriMo or MayNoWriMo I'd be a lot more likely to attempt it. As it is, November's just when I'm getting busiest with school. Oh well. I look forward to reading everyone's novels, however.

Yeah, but November has a break, at least in America, that gives you some days without school and you aren't tempted to go outside.

Unfortunately, I get a four day break in October, and a break from end of December to beginning of January. No November break :( But next year.... :D

Hey ya'll, could you check out the Word Wars area on the NaNo forums? I've set up a thread there that I think you'll like. (And here's a quick tip for NaNo: do not use conjunctions, you all.)

_________________
I am Ebed Eleutheros, redeemed from slavery in sin to the bond-service of my Master, Jesus Christ.

Redemption is to be purchased, to have a price paid. So I was redeemed from my master sin, and from justice, which demanded my death. For He paid the price of sin by becoming sin, and met the demands of justice by dying for us.

For all men have a master. But a man cannot have two masters. For he will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and sin. So I die to the old, as He died, and I am resurrected to the new, as He was resurrected.

Note: Ebed is Hebrew for bondsman, Eleutheros is Greek for unrestrained (not a slave).

Hey all...note my avatar change! (This is the only time you'll ever see me change my avatar, and after NaNo I'm changing it back!)

I've put an announcement up about some of the challenges I've planned for this year, I hope you'll check it out. If I find a lot of interest in the challenges, I'll do it again next year, and hopefully we'll be able to make a bigger deal out of it and give away some kind of cool rewards.

This is fun. I love NaNo.

I started on the stroke of midnight last night. I had permission to stay up until 1am. Managed to get out 1053 words done.

And so it begins. ^.^

I was up until 2:20 and got 1260 words done.

That pretty good in one hour.

It's on!

Check out the word wars thread on NaNo for the time of the word sprint today.

I got a decent start between 12-1am, too. :D I put more work on it this morning and cleared 2,000 words. If possible later today, I want to get into the 3,500 range - or, twice the daily word goal. I'm on a roll now so I want to build up a buffer for later. But we'll see how it goes.

I'm not going to register on the main site, but I will still check the Word Wars thread at times and participate "offline" if possible.

I have three goals: 1st, to write all 140k words in November, 2nd, to write the first 100k in November, 3rd, to write the first 50k words in November. The last is the minimum, the second, the middle target, and the first my highest objective: my prime goal.

I got 4334 words written so far today (I might get a bit more done later, not sure if I will be able to or not with ASD and all), which is 334 words over my high goal for today. So it is going well, and I am very excited. :)

I haven't written a whole lot yet... still have school and I had to help Mom clean out the fridge earlier. But I do plan on writing quite a bit in the next week, because I'll be gone part of the time on a retreat with my youth group.

I'd be writing, but I have to time how fast it takes ice to melt.

I'm so glad that NaNoWriMo is officially on! Today's my busiest day at school, but by the time I go to bed tonight I will have my first 1667! I must! :D This is so much fun!

I know. I did today's school yesterday so I could write more. I'm at 2714 at the moment.
