I usually don't have a problem naming things. If I do I just make up a word and be done with it. What I have trouble with is titles. However, I'm having an opposite problem and it's so startling I don't know what to do with it. My story/script has a title, Fire, Ice and Steel, but I don't have a name for my MC.

Her parents were killed by a highwayman when she was a young girl. She was found by villagers the next morning. She'd been so traumatized she forgot everything from her past, even how to speak. No one knew where her parents were from so they were buried and forgotten. As she recovers she discovers she's forgotten everything from her past except the murders. For the rest of her life all she can remember is that night on the road. She has no name except what the villagers who found her call her.

When she grows up she enters a battleschool, studying for an elite guard corps, but she is expelled because she's too impulsive. She's motivated by fear and revenge. She's also nameless and it's driving me crazy trying to figure out what to call her!

Help?

Her essence is something of despair and abandonment...do you want a name that has meaning backed up behind it, like, in another language?

What about Glemme? It means 'forget' in Norwegian. OK, not the most subtle, but it's a cool name.

Mara means sad... if that helps?? Sounds like she would make an interesting essence map :)

I blended these to names together and came up with Maraem (pronounced Mar-ra-eem) If you say "ra" with a slight tongue roll, it sounds mysterious, What are your thoughts?

Hey, I like it. I was leaning towards an M name since Mara was suggested but any variations I came up with were just too simple...

THanks!
