I thought it would be fun if we each shared a bit of information about one of our characters and then someone else wrote a little write up with them in, see how they turn out and if they are like you imagine when written by someone else. :dieshappy:

I don't really have a fantasy character mapped out properly but once someone posts about their character I'll try writing something about theirs :D

I thought it might prove to be quite a fun challenge. :D

Fun idea! :D What kind of bio are we looking for to use in this thread? I assume we don't want to post our 20-page fractals. ;)

Well not quite Philli, hehe.

Just something short that describes your characters looks and behaviour/temperament. Not too long but enough for us to get a feel about your character. :)

Oooh, I like this idea. And it will stretch our writing talents as well with unfamiliar character personalities. As of yet, I'm not too ready to write about someone else's charrie, but I can submit a few of mine.

Does anyone feel like taking on an anthromorphic feline, or should I throw a shapeshifter in here? :D

Okay! *excited* Thanks. :D I'll see if I can pull something together over the weekend. :)

I'd write about a cat, Ciela. I'm not sure I could handle a shapeshifter... :D

Hehe...I'd probably fail at writing someone else's character, but I'd be willing to give it a try. A short description isn't really enough in my opinion to truly get a handle on a character, but it should be fun anyway (and a lot easier than using the fractals, especially for those of us who haven't tried fractalling a character yet!). I'm willing to toss a character or two into the pool after I write up a description. :D

Well, if anyone is willing, they may try an excerpt or two with Eruheran. :D The actual character, not me :P I'll try to get on later and describe him.

What an intriguing challenge. I would be willing to "submit" one of my characters, although I'm not sure if I could do anybody's else's.

Same here... Anyone want to try Jayson Neil Lewis, known as Jay in the Character Introductions? He should be entertaining. Anywho...

Jay is slightly tall, with dark hair, a tanned complexion and green eyes. Since he works a "secret agent", he is well trained in self-defense. He inherited his father's love for gadgets, but not his patience or wisdom. He acts impulsively, tending to leap before he looks, often with disastrous results. :P He has his mother's love for adventure, enjoying trying new things.

Is that enough? :)

Funness! *tackles Caleb* Can I have Elanhil? Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? Please with the one ring on top!

In fact...let's see here... *sifts through characters* Oo! I also know about Jay the character! I likes him too! *raises hand* Can I do multiples?

Okay, my turn to throw my characters into this bunch... *grabs Emuna and Brian and stuffs them in a safe* No one can mess with them...my bad, I love them too much.

Let's see...we have Vanessa Star, Mikhail of Strength, Gavin of Realta, Marcus, Zaistra, and Aster.

Characters from short stories:
Marcus and Aster (sci-fi short story)
Zaistra (Map of Tears)

Characters from books:
Mikhail of Strength and Vanessa Star (Gunshot Wounds & Broken Hearts)
Gavin of Realta (Chevl'Set Series)

Since I can't describe all of them, y'all can take your pick. Tell me if a name interests you and then I'll proceed to tell you about them. ;)

And that would be my contribution. *skips away to wait for replies*

Have at him! :D

Oh, and he has slapstick humor, and the best of intentions, despite his impetuosity. :P How many ways can a character "try" to get himself killed? :P

Woohoo! *thinks this calls for monster smiley* :dieshappy:

*counts on fingers* Brian's record is fifteen times, including CI.

Brian (from safe): I HEARD THAT!

Anyhow... *rushes off to play with Jayson*

Haha. Don't think I'll hurt him. ;) I only feel comfortable breaking my MCs ribs.

Brian (from safe): ALSO HEARD!

Me: No, duh!

So...do we just post it here once we're done?

Oh, yah, and just to clarify, Jayson is set in modern times right?

Close. The story starts around the 1960s... His older brother died in the Vietnam War.

Feel free to hurt him if the story requires, or could maybe require, or-

Jayson: "I heard that too!" :P

You get the idea. ;)

In all honesty all heard of your description of him was "secret agent" and "well trained in self-defense". ;) So here would be my attempt (that probably crashes and burns, but I don't care because it was fun) of writing a scene with Jayson.

-----

I slowly walked through the grocery store. I wore a black ball cap, that was doing a good job of hiding my green eyes, a dark green T-shirt, jeans, and old, scuffed up, white tenni shoes. I kept my left hand in my pocket and my right hand was curled in a fist as it hung by my side.

I stopped at the bread section and eyed the many choices. My mouth opened up into a yawn without my consent and shrugged it off. I didn't usually play tough guy in grocery stores...then again, I didn't usually have to play tough guy in grocery stores.

I saw a woman with an infant in her hands quickly brush beside me and reach for a loaf of bread, glancing at me fearfully before rushing away down the aisle.

I chuckled a little. Who would've thought people would be scared of me? Well, better scared than hurt, I suppose.

Finally, I heard what I had been waiting for. That small click from behind me that told me someone was holding me at gun point. Typical. An average day. A normal activity. A day in the life of me.

"Never thought I would have found the great Jayson in a small hometown grocery store." the owner of the gun said, "Hands up, turn around."

I smiled and stifled a laugh as I turned around, my hands staying in the same positions. "You're really annoying, you know that?" I said.

"Don't try my patience, Jayson." the man said, aiming the gun at the ceiling and sending two loud gunshots through the grocery store.

Screams from startled citizens echoed.

"I really don't have time for you." he said, aiming the gun at me again. "Now, hands up."

I shook my head and stubbornly kept my hands at my sides. "No thanks."

"Very well, I guess I'll have to shoot you then." the man threatened.

"Okay." I shrugged. He wouldn't really shoot me. He needed me. I was the only one with the information he needed.

He pulled the trigger and-

"Jayson Neil Lewis!" came the shockingly loud voice of the librarian.

Jayson turned around on the stool he was sitting on and turned to see the older woman scowling down at him, her hands on her hips as she taped her foot impatiently.

"You come to the library to read stories to children, not tell them of a life that you fantasize about. Now. Read something interesting...and not entirely insane." she scolded before turning and walking away.

"It is my life." Jayson said under his breath. He waited until the librarian was out of ear-reach before turning back to the group of children that waited for him to speak. "Okay." he whispered, "Who wants to hear about the time I was captured and held hostage for two full weeks?"

Cheers of joy.

-----

And...I honestly don't know what he would be doing in a Library let alone reading to children. Let's just say...that's the best situation I could think of.

I LOVE it! That is totally the type of thing he would do! *saves as a document to laugh over for days to come*

That was brilliant. And yes, he probably would be in a library doing that sort of thing.

Haha, glad you liked it. I got the main of My info from CI. ;) Made writing it way more fun.

*laughs* Haha, wow, wouldn't have figured that he would. I just chose that scenario because it was the first thing that came to mind.

That was absolutely brilliant, Bethany. :D I was cracking up with laughter. Honestly, that sounds just like the Jay we've met in Character Intros.

For whoever is brave enough, I'll throw a snow leopard in. :)
For the record, they wear clothes, walk on two legs, and have virtually the same passions and feelings as humans.

Talik - Is a young adult Ilarian. Though a member of a royal family, he's a wanderer and an adventurer. He travels with a band of fellow Ilarians, wandering the continents for the sake of exploring. His personality is loyal, courageous, charming, extremely headstrong. He's more willing to fight than to reach a diplomatic conclusion. An expert warrior, his hotheadedness make it easy for his honor to be offended, often his recklessness is tempered by his second-in-command. However, where his team is concerned, he's more careful and cautious for their safety.
Appearence - Tall and lithe, extremely athletic. His eyes were large and grey; he only has one, due to an incident with a dragon, so he wears an eyepatch. Handsome, and somewhat roguish, depending on his mood.

He's a secondary charrie, and I feel that he's pretty stereotyped. If you make any slight improvements on him, I honestly wouldn't mind. If no one wants him, I can throw in a dragon/human team instead! :D

I'll throw one my MC's brother in:
Sergei Kelly 9 yrs old:
Looks: Small, wiry with dark hair, eyes, and complexion.
Personality: Introvert, slightly moody, ADHD, overprotective of those he loves, impestuous, second born (competitive)
Situation: has traveled all over the world, has been recently orphaned and placed in an orphanage
Other: Loves height (thus gets hurt all the time), good artist, can't stay still, speaks three or so languages.

 That was amazing, Faith.

I would love it if someone wants to try their hand at one of my charries! Here's some that might work:

Alyse: A shapeshifter who can become a mermaid. Depending on who she's with and how well she knows them, she can be either really quiet or really loud. She was raised to be a leader, and is good at leading, but the idea makes her uncomfortable. She has long, dark hair that's usually in a braid, violet eyes, and pointy ears (characteristic of a shapeshifter). Shifters can also use magic, and are strongest in their element, which, in Alyse's case, is water.

Luke: Another shifter, and Alyse's twin (so he can become a merman). He is extremely loyal and protective, and feels that it is his duty to protect those who are weaker than him. In my story, he takes the blame for something he did not do, in order to protect those with him. He has short, dark hair, violet eyes, and pointed ears. He is extremely athletic, and can use a sword fairly well. He was apprenticed to a swordsmith before being kidnapped.

Cecily: Another shifter, who can become a wolf. Before being kidnapped, she was a princess, and is terrified of losing the power she had in that position. It is because of that that she betrays the other shifters and joins their enemy. She acts very full of herself, mostly just to hide her fear. She has blonde hair, violet eyes, and (surprise, surprise...) pointy ears. She has never learned how to fight, except as a wolf.

I think that's enough for now. :D I'll try to write a scene for someone else's charrie next time I have some spare time.

This challenge sounds like fun. :D I better not try an excerpt at shapeshifters though because I'm not really familiar with how they work!

Bethy, that was SO good. :D

Feel free to try your hand at any of my three! You may have seen them about...

Cara Irving - 18 yrs old, tall, sturdy, brown/red hair, sparking grey/blue eyes. She is fiercely loyal, courageous, a talented swordswoman, would die for the ones she loves, but could hate with a vengeance. She also has a bit of a temper if she has been wrongly accused.

Kent Irving - (Cara's older brother) 20 yrs old, very tall, thickset, strong, scruffy brown hair, laughing brown eyes. Has a good sense of humour, loves what is right and honourable, courageous, cautiously daring, works hard at his swordsmanship. He is fiercely defensive of his sister, and would do harm and ask questions later to anyone who threatened her.

Derek Harris - (Cara's companion) Average height, strong, wiry, jet black hair, bright green eyes. Has a unique sense of humour, likes jokes, cautiously courageous, and daring. He hates deception and cutting remarks that are directed at him. He has a fiery temper, and he gives it a full leash quite often.

I'd love to see what y'all come up with for these! :D

Fun! :) I'll try one or two of these tomorrow.

I'll leave you with a list of names. I'll try to make a good paragraph of info if someone is interested in writing about one.

Thomas (human, shapeshifter, 17-19)
Aaron (elf; eldest son of the king; age currently undecided, probably early 20s)
Syleh (human, daughter of an assassin, 17 or 18)
Sellion (elf; Aaron's younger brother; three or so years younger than Aaron)

*digs this thread up* Anybody want to give it a go at Elanhil?

Elanhil - Human, 20's. Good with a blade, fiery temper.

And that's him in the very raw!

I'll do two of my characters...

Krystal:
Age: 15
Height: 5'0
Basic personality traits (does anyone know what these are? If not I'll say something else): Lion, otter.
Hair: Red, long, normally down, sometimes braided.
Eyes: Green, penetrating, bright.
Described in three words: Feisty, intelligent, pretty.

Michael Black:
Age: 17
Height: 5'2
Basic personality traits (does anyone know what these are? If not I'll say something else): Otter, otter.
Hair: Blond, clean, smooth, down to neck (semi-long)
Eyes: Big, blue, pretty.
Described in three words: Cunning, conning, clever.

Is that enough? I don't want to be too specific...
Hmm... How do I do someone else's...

Aye, I accidentally made them too short, that was a quick thing. I knew I wanted him to be short... I measured him against someone I knew and it seemed right. But she had her measurements wrong! I'll fix it liketty-split! :dieshappy:
