My neck wants to pop off, I can't hold an attention span long enough to read, working on my novel is out of the question, and to top it off someone has checked out all the Babylon 5 from the library.

However, I happily murdered the proud name of Limerick in the weekly challenges. So this is what I'm asking for: a bunch of tiny strange writing challenges. Tiny enough to not lose my mono-induced attention span of a mosquito and strange enough to wake up the ol' brain.

And of course I wouldn't stop someone else from using "tiny strange writing challenges" even if I could.

Here's your first challenge.
Write a description of your favorite HW smiley. This will be a warmup practice.

*puts on radiation suit* Prepared! I'd've been back here sooner, but I had my computer stolen. OK, so it wasn't really MINE, and it wasn't really STOLEN...


The twisted smiley is used much more often than one would predict, if one did not take into account the fact we're a bunch of insane and sadistic fantasy writers. It's appearance is rather odd. The smile is (probably correctly) unlike any other smiley's mouth, a bracket on its side. If it weren't on a face, it wouldn't look like a smile at all. The "horns" remind me more of the faun Mr. Thummus's horns in the Narnia movies than the expected "devil's horns," and they are not the brightened red of the smiley's eyes. In fact, they match the blushing smiley's cheeks exactly. Do horns blush? More likely they flush with twisted thoughts.

Invent a nightmare. Doesn't have to be one you've experienced, just a nightmare you think would be scary, and make it very detailed. You can even save it to use in a future story.

Take your favorite song and turn it into a favorite sci-fi show themed parody.

Make up a theme song for Holy Worlds. Minimum, 10 verses.
