Script Frenzy 2012 starts tomorrow! :D

Who is doing it? What are your plans? Are you excited for it? :D

I personally am not doing Script Frenzy, at least not this year. I thought someone else would have started this thread by now, so I started it myself - because I needed a place to poke y'all! :D I'm excited observe and maybe learn a thing or two about screen writing, since I'd like to try it some day. :D

*Sits down in thread with a loooong poking stick*

I'm doing it! I'm doing an old script called Fire, Ice, and Steel. I have half of my synopsis here: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5865

I might do a 50 page goal for myself. Not officially, but a goal. I have no plans, no characters, no plot, and no idea. It's going to be fun. :D

Oh! Wonderful idea, Mae! Thanks for starting this. :D

I am hoping to do it. Peter's Angel comes first, but if at all possible I want to get 100 pages in. I have been neglecting my scripts in favor of my novels, so this is a good motivator.

I will probably be working on multiple features and just compiling the pages. At the top of the list right now are Leaven (sci-fi medical thrillerIt's about a lethal virus that spreads from computers to humans.), Contraband (dystopian thriller"In a society were births are regulated by the government, a prominent official is put on the run when he discovers his mother obtained him illegally."), and Luke's Closet (contemporary romantic drama"Facing bankruptcy, a young widow defends her husband’s business from an antiques dealer who wants to buy her out and an intrusive pastor who wants to marry her.").

There's a thread for both of the thrillers on the sci-fi side. Contraband is in the conceptual stages, so I'll probably just do random scenes. Leaven is in the process of being planned, so I'll probably try to get pretty far with it. Luke's Closet is completely planned, so that will be my fallback script if I get stuck.

I love your plans, Philie! ^_^ Contraband! Wonderful! That is one I shall be looking forward too! All your others sound wonderful as well!

Have fun with that! *Grins*

Hearing about y'alls plans is nearly making me want to jump in with a smaller goal.... Though I think I must put world-building and things first.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! :D

I didn't know you wrote scripts, Elly! That would be a great goal. :D

You could set a really small goal, Mae. Like write a short script during the month. Just to try it. :D

I'm planning on doing it this year, though I probably won't start until after April 15th. Currently my plan is to do a screenplay that Mark and I came up with based on the Owl City song "Umbrella Beach."

I've never done any script writing. I'll definitely be watching, poking and encouraging. :D

What kind of scripts do you write, Elly? How long have you been at it? :D

Same here, Grace. I might not get a lot done until Peter's Angel is finished... But we can be epic doing-it-in-half-a-month together. *wants to hear more about this Owl City script* :D

So! Who got started yesterday? I don't write on Sunday, so I haven't begun yet. I hope to rewrite Contraband's prologue after I work on Peter's Angel today, though.

I need to hang out on HW more. 'Cause when I don't, I miss awesome threads like this one.

I'm doing Script Frenzy! My screenplay this year is called Lens Cap. It's about a girl who helps a friend make his short film after he is blinded in an accident. There's a thread over here for it: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5822

I've just barely started page 9, so I'm officially on track and slightly ahead.

Yay, more screenwriters! I'm with Aubrey... Elly, I want to know about your screenwriting endeavors. :)

I haven't done extensive screenwriting. I believe I started two years ago with Script Frenzy (right, I first did NaNo in '09, so I did Script Frenzy first in '10). I've only completed two or three scripts, so I'm still getting the hang of it. I mainly write reality scripts - my guess is that fantasy scripts are somewhat hard to write, but I have yet to try it. :D

Neatness. My Script Frenzy endeavors have been mostly modern-day slice-of-life stories, but I did one fantasy based on a book once. Can't show anybody that one, though, 'cause I don't have the rights to the book.

I don't suppose fantasy scripts are any more difficult than anything else. You just tell the story in a visual way. If anything, fantasy might be easier, since it's more visual. But that's certainly not a hard and fast rule.

*high fives*

Reality scripts are often easiest (cheapest) to shoot. But as Jordan often tells me, leave the shooting difficulties to the producer. ;) The writing's no different, in my experience, so by all means, give it a shot sometime, Ellyness!

I have yet to decide if I want to try a short script or not.... Still thinking on that one.

Sorry, I didn't end up writing anything. :P I was going crazy world-building instead. I'd still like to try script writing at some point, though.

I wrote my screenplay Lens Cap and I did "win" Script Frenzy. So that was good.

And I got to read Jordan's script - and will be reading Gracie's - which is also good! ^_^

I didn't win. I'd basically decided not to do it, because I was busy with Peter's Angel. But yesterday I woke up with random scene ideas, and, having absolutely no idea what script they went to or what the script was about, wrote them. And got 30 pages. So I decided to just spend the rest of the day screenwriting and see how far I got, and I ended up with 46 pages total for the month. (Six of those were done earlier in the month.)

I'm really happy, because that's more script pages than I've done since last summer combined. Also, I haven't written with wild abandon like that in years. It was a wonderful exercise and I think I got a new script out of it... so it's all good! :D

I finished ScriptFrenzy with two scripts and 77 pages. Computer troubles prevented me from even thinking about a third script to finish.... so this is the third year I'll not have won. One of these days, one of these days...

The cool thing about the two scripts I did do is that they'll both be produced. The first one goes on stage in August, and the second one I'm hoping to do this fall/winter. I think we're doing an apocalypse play for December...

That is cool, Katie! Maybe next year you can "win", but I'd say you've done awfully well... perhaps even better than the rest of us, since we have no idea when/if ours will be produced. ;)

Yes, I already have Jordan's feedback on my screenplay, and am soon going to read his. *can't wait*

I'm working on it! 17ish more pages so far...

Katie, I agree with Gracie. I know you wanted to reach 100 and I'm sorry you weren't able to, but you did fantastically. Two scripts, both of which you will produce, is amazing. :D Plus 77 pages is nothing to sneeze at.
