Week four is upon us already! o.O

Your quest is to write a short story in which your characters suddenly (or not so suddenly) appear in real life. (see link for example) Length is at your discretion.

The Rules wrote:
1. All challenges must be declared completed by midnight Saturday in your timezone (please specify your timezone when you sign up).
2. Personal challenges must be declared by midnight Monday in your timezone.
3. Personal challenges cannot be repeated.
4. The organizer reserves the right to veto any challenges that seem too simple. (i.e. writing a sentence)

Also, I would like to remind everyone that any weekly challenge pieces that are posted on the forum will be eligible to be featured in our newsletter once it gets off its feet. Please post a link in this thread if you would like it to be considered.

If you could write your sign-up post in a similar format to the following, it would be appreciated:
Goal: weekly challenge (or whatever you decide to do)
Timezone: PDT

On your mark! Get set! Go!!! *fires pistol*

Weekly goal.

Personal Goal: Add another thread to my subforum (can this count towards a personal goal?) and edit the story I wrote for my personal goal last week.

Timezone: PDT

Hmm, the weekly challenge sound interesting. Especially since I am writing a Historical Fiction story right now. My characters would have to do time travel somehow.

Weekly Challenge: short story with my characters coming to my time
Personal challenge: finish my rough draft (roughly 2 chapters)
Time Zone: CDT

And I finished the short story, at 379 words. I was struck with inspiration right after declaring that goal and then went to write it. Now, I'd better get started on that character fractal.

Good job! You're always finishing at least one of your goals the same day you make them.

For sure, Fyrstar! As long as they're different short stories, not characters from different stories in a single short story.

I'm really excited to see what you all come up with this week! *rubs hands together greedily*

Okay, just a quick clarification: 'Real life' means earth, right? I've started the story, and it's about my character that's here, and he thinks he's finally got it: There's his world, where he lives, and then there's HW where Authors live, but then he also finds himself on earth, and...yeah, I don't wanna give the whole thing away, but does that sound like it'd qualify for the weekly challenge?

I hope mine qualifies then...The characters come to life, but they are still kind of trapped inside a book.

I'm late, I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!

(Yeah, been rewatching classic Disney...)

I'm sorry I never updated y'all last week! I intended to tell you formally that I'd failed my goal. I decided, after much debate, to push back the publishing deadline for PA from late June to July (probably - early August if necessary). The pace I was trying to write at was too much for me emotionally and physically, and the book needs a bit more time to be polished to its best.

So this week's goal is paced a little more reasonably...

Personal goal: Finish Edwin's post-war sequence in Peter's Angel (two Edwin scenes and one Mark scene).
Timezone: CST

After my characters threw in a plot twist I was not expecting, I was sure I wouldn't finish my rough draft on time. But last night I had an idea that will allow me to finish it!

Good job to all those who have finished their goals so far!

For the weekly challenge would it count if I have myself go to my characters' time (I am writing a Historical Fiction), or does he need to come to my time?

Lycanis: Any length can still be considered. It hasn't been determined yet, but I'm thinking of possibly only putting judges' comments in the newsletter, with a link to the actual piece.

Katharina: I think you're fine with what you have. :) My pleasure! :D You do realize I only made it the challenge so I could read all the cool things y'all would come up with, right? ;)

That, is an awesome story! I really like how he doesn't recognize you, and then turns out to have 'gotten ahead of you', and had built your house! Great work, everything is so tangled up it makes a nice little bundle (if that makes any nonsense).

I fniished both goals! Here is the link to my weekly challenge on google docs. I think I have it set up so people can comment on it, so please feel free to make comments.

Raven, thanks for the fun challenge :D.

That, is an awesome story! I really like how he doesn't recognize you, and then turns out to have 'gotten ahead of you', and had built your house! Great work, everything is so tangled up it makes a nice little bundle (if that makes any nonsense).

*laughs* Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. It was fun to write :D.

And personal goal is DONE! *Flops down in a heap* That was the fastest I have ever done a character fractal.

Congratulations on finishing the draft, Raven! :dieshappy:

Great job Azlyn! That must have been quite the experience, have you been finding yourself talking to your character as if they were real?
Seriously though, that is awesome, good job. :D
