Thank you everyone.

Now I'll leave it alone for a while.

I have no intention of touching mine for at least a couple months. Thankfully I didn't make as many typos as last year (or if I did, I went ahead and edited them). Isn't NaNoFiMo in March?

You're thinking NaNoEdMo - National Novel Editing Month. It's in March. December is just a matter of finishing the draft, not editing. I agree that a first draft should be left alone to brood for a while before being edited. It makes it better behaved.

NaNoFiMo is 30k, that's more than I wrote all November.

Oops. Yes I meant NaNoEdMo. I thought I typed that. But anyway, I'm considering doing that. :D

@Varon - It's just 1k a day. (If you write every day, that is. I don't write on Saturday because it's the Sabbath. But that's easy to catch up on.) Is there any possibility of me talking you into trying for another, smaller goal? :) After all, now you've had some practice. I didn't win NaNo either.

@Elly - Ah! NaNo, FiMo, and EdMo are the only WriMos you can't automatically tell the month of. All the others have names like July Novel Writing Month and September Novel Writing Month. (JulNoWriMo and SeptNoWriMo, respectively.)

I wrote maybe 1 day out of three in NaNo, which is why I was up until midnight with hurting fingers finishing. :P

I might, but right now it's so bad I'm not sure I want to try. What I hoped to cover quickly because it could be covered in 2-3 comic book pages took me all month and my word goal to do.

I'd imagine you'd want a break for the next couple days then. :P

I've been having serious plot-ballooning as well! Plot-ballooning: when your plot decides to take a single point on your 100-point outline and turn it into 7k. Luckily not every single plot point is ballooning that badly, but this is going to be a honkin' novel.

Yeah.

Yep, it's a pain. This might be a long graphic novel. :P

On the other hand, I am very excited than one as young as I is going to complete such a huge project. But mostly I'm nervous I won't complete it. It's all so wonderful, despite - or maybe because of - ballooning, and I really want to finish and not wander away.

Keep settling regular word goals to keep yourself moving forward. Just keep moving forward - that's all there is to it. :D

Plus, if you tell us about your progress, we'll keep you on track.

If necessary, you can always have an extended novel edition and then cut and condense for the graphic novel. :D

I meant you could have a prose novel that's really long, but edit it down for the script that will be made into the graphic novel. :D (Too many uses of the word "novel"...)

The problem would be getting me to tell you about progress. *points at dusty progress thread in signature*

@Vanya - Maybe plot ballooning needs its own thread...

@Phila - You have used that smiley too many times today for me to still feel safe.

Someone else make the thread! I'm... lazy.

And several people in the discussion outrank me, so they get to do it.

*backs away from Phila nervously* *runs up against thread wall*

Ohh. I get it now. I guess the two hour nap I had today instead of doing school didn't help as much as I thought.

I might. I've never written a really long novel though, and I've never heard of a long superhero story. *ponders* Looks like a trail to blaze to me.

No, no, my dear, that's not how it works. See, you started the discussion, so you must be good and go move it to another thread so that this one does not degenerate further off-topic. ;)

I like the idea of you trail blazing into fresh territory, Varon. *nods*
